Location is perfect if you plan to experience historic Centro. I stayed a week, slept well even though my room was next to the busy street, used the kitchen and terrace, and had breakfast in the lobby cafe. Overall, since the hotel is simple and traditional, I felt like I was part of the city, not just a visitor
Previous guest’s forgotten clothing still in a drawer. Missing light bulb. Overall, needs more attention to detail

- Irene and her staff were lovely. They were welcoming and hospitable, and always happy to help out.
- The hotel is charming and definitely value for money. The kitchen is stocked with all the essentials and jugs of water are provided through the day/night.
- We stayed in a quadruple room. It was a last minute booking. The room was clean and comfortable (and cleaned regularly). The showers had hot water. No complaints.
- The location is perfect. It is just off the main city centre. Walking distance from everything without being all the way in the middle of the madness.
All in all, you're getting what you pay for (and probably more)
- As some visitors have pointed out, room 9 (the one we stayed in) faces the street. We were worried this was going to be a big issue. But in reality this isn't really a problem at night because the hotel is a little distance away from the main bars/restaurant zone. However the noise of traffic in the morning can be a bit disturbing if you're a light sleeper.

I had a great stay at the Real Santa Domingo. Irene was professional, kind and very helpful throughout my stay. My room and the hotel in general, was clean, comfortable, and charming. The location is excellent for exploring Oaxaca Centro. Old hotel gives a nice flavor of the city.
A little noisy as it is a busy corner with traffic but gets very quiet in the middle of the night

The hotel is beautiful, everything was very comfortable and clean and the staff are so wonderful and helpful. The location is perfect.

The staff at Real Santo Domingo is one of the nicest we've ever encountered in our travels, Irene is so kind, helpful and warm, I would recommend everyone to stay here simply for that reason! Also, great location, great value, lovely rooftop terrace and indoor common room.
Some of rooms which don't have double windows/doors are quite noisy, the hotel being located in a very central neighborhood.

We really liked the house, the size of the room as well as the rooftop terrace. The owner has been absolutely lovely. She is sich a gem, so helpful and sweet. We’ve even been able to use the bathroom in one of the not occupied rooms before we went on the night bus.
The location is nothing for a light sleeper, though it seems that all streets in the historical center of Oaxaca are main roads anyways. It’s been fairly loud due to traffic if you’re sleeping on the ground floor.

The owner and staff were great. Really made us feel welcome. The hotel was great, too.
Needs better wifi.

The only thing I liked about this property is the location.
The pictures and description on your website does not reflect the deteriorated conditions on the building. On Booking it indicated the I booked a hotel not a hostel. The premises didn’t have a person on their lobby, the furniture In the building was old and uncomfortable. The “Hotel” was super hot and didn’t have AC. I also noticed some
hazardous issues such as uncovered wires on the rooftop that could potentially harm a person. I can keep going listing all the issues, however, I will not as I am on vacation and I don’t want to wast much time writing about my absorbámonos there.

The owner was attentive and friendly. The room was very big with private balconies. The bathroom was clean and the shower good. They provided me with a bowl for my pet to drink out of. There was an upstairs patio where you could BBQ and share a drink
All good

Everything was fine. The staff was very nice, we got a room for the packages until we could book our own room and they were at our disposal for everything!
The location is close to transportation (ADO) as well as downtown. Both the room and the hotel were very clean and pleasant.
There is a small kitchen where you can make coffee or tea and buy water for free.
They were cleaned and linen changed every day!
The roof terrace is also great!

The only minus was noise from the street even at night and early morning

The place is beautiful very cozy and well located in the downtown area. Because of the pandemic, everything was coordinated for don't have any type of unnecessary contact, the access to the place is with a coded lock on the front door that they sent to you with additional information previous to your arrive, I like that.
My room was very noisy, I was located in the first floor in the room number 9 which has two balconies. This because of the hotel location in the corner of two of the main streets of Oaxaca city (which helps because every interesting place in town is closer), but lots of street noises all day and night. Also there is no cable in the TV. If this is not an issue for you then the hotel it is an excellent option.

The location was good. The ambiance, as you enter, is nice. Some of the rooms are rather nicely decorated and are spacious enough. My second room, upstairs, had a little juliette balcony--at least I could open a door/window to let in some air. One of the cleaning ladies was helpful in helping me move my bags from one room to another.
The posting wasn't accurate, so proceed with caution. I booked a single room, which evidently came with a "patio", "terrace" and "balcony". I wasn't sure what to make of a room having all 3 of these, but in any case, mine had none. And the one "window" opened onto a small courtyard, with no breeze, so it was not even possible to get any air into the room. It was otherwise windowless, so dark and airless. I guess the courtyard was meant to be the "terrace", but there was a kitchen table on it, so it wasn't like in some places, where your room has an actual terrace/patio for your use. This apparently simply meant--your room is accessed from an inner courtyard, which you can't actually use yourself. So don't imagine a patio, where you can sit around, enjoying the ambiance. I had to call booking.com to deal with the misrepresentation on the site; they managed to get me switched to another room, which was much nicer, and was actually less expensive than the tiny, main floor, airless room I was originally in. Note that still, what they call a balcony is not actually a balcony that you can sit on and take in the view, but a tiny space where you could put a potted plant if you had one. Also note (this was not clear from the posting) that there is no reception, no check in, no staff on site to help you or check you in, besides the cleaning lady who's there from about 9 to about 1-2 pm. I was arriving cold, never having been to Oaxaca, late at night, and presumed that because check-in was listed as being "until midnight", that there would actually be humans there until that hour to check me in and answer any questions, etc. Not so. So generally, buyer beware: the listing is misrepresentative of what you get.

Had a few misgivings because of the low price, but any misgivings were completely unfounded. The hotel is in a prime location of Centro, very residential, well lit and very safe. The room (#2) was large, spotless and comfortable. I had a king bed with a very comfy mattress. No TV, which suited me fine. Free wifi, fast enough to download Netflix and podcasts. Best of all, one block from the Llano Park for my little dog. Park abounds with joggers, roller skaters, kids, dogs, Zumba classes. Just the very best! And no extra charges for the dog. I give it 4.9 stars!!
The only thing I would like to see is an interior lock added to the rooms. As a solo woman traveller, I am very safety conscious and an extra lock would have given me that peace of mind.

Perfect location in a beautiful, terraced building with a lovely, culturally inspired atmosphere.
Bed was quite “pokey” and uncomfortable.

Big room with double doors so I got lots of natural light and air. Nice old Colonial building. Nice rooftop terrace.
Busy street so a lot of traffic noise. Kitchen is small and no coffee maker and no coffee offered by hotel.

Comfortable small hotel in the center. Walking distance to everything. It is an older property very simple and basic. It ain’t the Ritz.. There is no AC but I had a nice room with a big window overlooking the street. At night there was a cool breeze. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were soft. The shower was wonderful. But the best part was the very accommodating staff. Thank you May. See you again soon.
Like most places in Mexico the Wi-Fi was sketchy. Don’t plan on doing work or watching Netflix.
