About this house rental
Welcome to Hideaway Haven - tucked away in the peaceful & sought-after area of Lake Gaston, known as Six Pound Creek. This home boasts open water views, glass-like water, and everything lake-living has to offer. You will seriously love this peaceful part of Lake Gaston, as there is minimal boat traffic - making it much safer for swimming, easier to paddleboard, and more tranquil overall. We don't think there's a better spot on the entire lake! If you love the main lake, it's a short boat ride. Also not far from some restaurants on the lake, by boat (ask us about our pontoon and jet ski rentals).
As you enter the front door, you are greeted with bright two-story windows displaying the lake, and an open floorplan large enough for multiple families or groups to gather and enjoy!
A wrap-around sundeck surrounds the main floor living space. Enjoy your morning coffee off the Kitchen with elevated views of the boathouse, and gaze across untouched water to a private island. Maybe even greet the blue herons that walk on the shore. These panoramic views allow for sights of sunrise and sunset. For lunch/dinner, help yourself to the gas grill, as everyone gathers for indoor-outdoor dining.
In the evening, wind down on the covered patio or around the fire pit roasting marshmallows.
Nonstop fun all day in this deep-water cove. Take a morning cruise on a provided tandem kayak or paddleboat; Swim or float off the 2-level boathouse, and even try jumping off the sundeck into 7ft deep water (no diving please). Access to the water is down a tiered boardwalk (2 or 3 steps down at a time to multiple landings) that winds down the gentle grade.
New for 2022!
A full bathroom has been added to the main floor! Also, the master suite bathroom has been fully renovated with all-new plumbing, tile, vanity, fixtures, and a freestanding soaker tub.
Lastly, we installed a brand new water filtration system to help with water quality.
Some amenities include:
2 smart enabled TVs and internet in both family rooms.
1 double Kayak, 1 paddle boat
Foosball table
Pac-Man Arcade Game
If you have your own boat insurance we have 2 rental options:

Pretty house with a beautiful view of the lake! Very peaceful and relaxing weekend. We were a bit disappointed that the hot tub and fireplace were not working since those were a couple of features why we chose this house over some others we considered. We did enjoy the pedal boat! Overall, we had a great weekend!

Had a great time enjoying the view and fire pit. House was perfect for our get together.

Had a lovely time at this rental property - beautiful lake access, view, and accommodations. Loved the kayak and paddle boat options. Would definitely return!

We really did enjoy our trip to this house. Quiet and calm area of the lake, and main floor of the house is beautiful. Dock is nice, and our group had a wonderful time using the space. Would definitely recommend the house.
My only real complaint is that there is no trash service, so having to pack out a weeks worth of trash from 18 people was a pain. The nearby and recommended waste facility wasn’t open for the last few days of the week, so it was a 20 min drive with a lot of smelly trash in a van.

We had a group of 7 NC State Alumni who enjoyed a weekend trip. We had fun jumping off the 2nd floor of the dock, paddling in the kayaks, sitting around the fire, and playing games in the game room.

This was a wonderful stay with friends we haven't seen in many years...at a great time of the year when the crowds have left and the lake is quiet and serene. Hideaway Haven is beautifully furnished in a wooded setting on the lake which provided enriching sun rises and beautiful sunsets . While we spent most of our time touring the area, this property has all of the important amenities to make anyone's stay a memorable experience. Wish we would have had more time to sit around the fire pit and build a fire.....or take in the stars while relaxing in the hot tub.....so I would choose Hideaway Haven to come back again ..... and take advantage of the things this place has to offer. Thanks Chris!!!!

Awesome lake house
We had a fantastic stay at Hideaway Haven! Very clean, lots of amenities, and immediately responsive to any questions we had. The views from the deck and the boathouse were amazing and very relaxing. And the host even gave us a card and bottle of wine because they knew we were celebrating our anniversary. Very thoughtful!

Beautiful home on the lake with a dock that has two levels. The drive way is something that you will always remember.

A beautiful place to be
This was our first experience staying in the Lake Gaston area with family members including our two teenagers. We loved every minute of it. This property is a hidden gem, it provides all the luxuries of home and has everything you need. It was very clean and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could need. It's located in a unique spot on the lake where you have a small cove to yourself but have accessibility to boating out to the larger areas of the lake. Tons of deck space by the house and large dock areas by the water, you never feel like there is not enough room. It is a property that you can totally re-connect as a family. We will be re-booking this property again in June and cannot wait to come here again.

Home Away From Home
We visited Hideaway Haven last Summer, and we'll be back again this coming Summer, but we had to return recently to see all the renovations. The new bathrooms are amazing! The biggest improvement was having a completely new bathroom on the main floor. Some of our kids sleep upstairs and now, while before they had to share the Master Bathroom with us, they have their own full bathroom - and ours is completely private to us in the Master Bedroom. I don't know how y'all pulled this off, but it completely transforms the house! Also last Summer it wasn't a major draw to have a large corner tub in the Master Bathroom, but the smaller freestanding tub is so luxurious, and we noticed a major improvement in the water quality. Very well done!
Lastly, thank you so much for getting the hot tub running! We didn't really miss it last Summer, as we were in the Lake so much, but in the Winter (and I imagine on either side of the hot season) the hot tub is a very nice touch, and a great hangout. We noticed the switch on the wall that turns on the accent lighting, and it felt like we were alone in the universe :)
We truly feel like we are at our second home every time we return, and the best part is that every time we see major improvements without us doing a thing - it's like a magic home makeover, haha!
Thank you to the Owners, and we cannot wait to return this Summer...

Could have been better
The house looks exactly like the pictures. There were few issues.. the first was the check in since the box died we had to find the spare keys to enter the property. The listing said no dogs but there were dog 's hair everywhere, later found out the owner came the week prior with his dog.
The hot tub wasn't working 😫 which would have been nice to have taken off the listing since it was one of the main reason we wanted to get the house.
The owner was nice enough to call and apologized for the few mishaps

Amazing view!
Was a pleasant stay with lots of amenities. You can see that they’re working hard to make the place as nice as possible.
Having to drop off the trash was a bit of a pain but still a great experience. Thank you!

Wonderful place with gorgeous view
We had a beautiful view of the Lake and if feels very private when you're sitting on your choice of the many spacious decks or sitting by your campfire. The manager and owners are very friendly and helpful. There are nice decks which we enjoyed sitting on the lounge chairs reading a magazine or book. The grandchildren ages 3-7 loved catching fish off the dock, jumping from the docks, riding on the paddle boat and kayak. The paddle boat and kayak were available at no extra charge and you also have a dock to tie your boat to with your lakefront rental. Overall this was a beautiful place and we had a great time! We also loved the fact that we could spend half the day on the boat and it was close enough to run back in for lunch and naps before going back out on the boat for the remainder of the day.

Great Stay on the Lake
Over the 4th of July holiday 10 of us stayed 5 days on this property on Lake Gaston. July is usually hot, but we enjoyed mild high temperatures in the 80s. Our party consisted of three generations, grand mother, grandfather, their son and his wife and their two children, grand mothers sister and her husband (myself), her daughter and husband.
Fun was had paddling the kayak and paddle boat, sunning on top of the boat deck and fishing off the boat deck. Grandfather caught a large mouth bass and several large catfish. Store bought fireworks were set off between the shore and fire pit but the real entertainment was watching a half hour display of mortar launched fireworks from across the lake.
The house had 5 bedrooms and plenty of beds for everyone. Temperature was set at 68 at night and 77 during the day and we were quite comfortable. The house on the first floor had an open floor plan with kitchen, dinning and living room, all facing the lake. A large wooden deck faced the lake with a gas grill, rocking chairs and other seating. The basement floor had its our couch and TV along with a sink and extra refrigerator which come in handy with overflow from the frig on the main floor. Out side was a porch with plenty of seating adjacent to a fire pit with surrounding chairs. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of cups , dishes , pots and pans.
There was one problem in using the clothes washer; on first use some white clothes come out with rust colored stains, perhaps using a Clorox type additive would resolve this problem but we choose not to wash any more clothes. As to the water; I had no problem drinking from the faucet, others drank bottled water.
Overall, its was a great stay on this property on Lake Gaston

Lovely getaway
We arrived on Sunday and left on Friday, June 2021. I can say that we enjoyed our stay here at Hideaway Haven, relaxing at the lake. Memories were made sitting on the deck and dock. Kids playing in the lake - we were able to do just what we came for. While we didn't use the firepit, the updates were spectacular, and we even left some firewood for the next family to enjoy. The only opportunity for the host is to ensure the house is cleaned and wiped down. Kitchen cabinet doors and handles were visibly dirty and there were several condiments left in fridge and food in freezer (we had a big family and needed all the space). I would also inform guest to wash clothes at their own risk, as the water will change light/white colors to a rusty brown shade. Lastly, the linens (that were rented) some were on the bed and some weren't (they were supposed to be placed on the mattress and beds not made for cleanliness/sanitization matters). Overall, I'd come back here and relax again. The living room was lovely, from the bench to the floor cushions....it was ah-mazing! The bedrooms made a great use of space and the basement was top-notch. Oh, and one more thing, the outside upgrades made to the property made the home some inviting. Thank you for creating such a great spot!

Excellent Relaxation Vacation
We had a seamless check-in and great communication with the owners. The house has stunning views of the lake and a gorgeous lakeside dock for sunning and soaking. It was very clean and welcoming. We so enjoyed kayaking on the lake and finished up the evening with a cozy fire. 10/10 would recommend and would for sure stay here again if it's available!
