Lovely location, staff very accommodating and friendly
4.6
It was close to where we needed to be, room was spacious
The bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly, hairs in the bath and under the lid of the toilet and dirty water in the loo. Marks on sink. Had to clean bathroom myself before we could use it. Didn't bother going back down to speak to the staff as they didn't really seemed bothered with us as they were too busy setting up for a function that had in that evening. When we arrived they didn't even really seem to be aware of us coming, and initially took is to the wrong room until I found the confirmation and confirmed which room we were suppose to be in

We chose The Cheney Arms as it was close to Ragdale Hall Spa. This was a perfect end to a lovely day. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.
The food in the restaurant was excellent
Nothing it was perfect

Very cosy and great food
Bedroom light a little dull and full length mirror would be useful

The whole experience was great from start to finish. The staff are incredibly helpful.

Very clean .
Dinner on Friday evening very good and reasonably priced.
Shower was slow.
Curtains in bedroom thin and did not keep out the light which meant sleep disturbed in the early hours of the morning.

Friendly welcome, comfy room, ample car parking, quiet country location yet within reach of main roads, excellent breakfast, high attention to detail and a bath!!
Nothing comes to mind, it was a great weekend hotel

Breakfast a bit expensive and wifi not so good.

Breakfast was lovely

The quintessential English pub in a quintessential village. Food was fantastic; hosts excellent; rooms were lovely; bed comfy and all the facilities working well. Worth the slightly higher cost for the overall experience.
English shower plumbing always intrigues, and commonly defeats us Aussies!

A very warm and friendly welcome from the owners...beautifully decorated, warm, clean, comfortable with an excellent selection of teas/coffee and biscuits.
We ate in the pub in the evening - its was 'pie night' and we possibly had the best pies we've ever eaten. There was an excellent choice of wines and the staff were lovely.
Thank you for such a great stay :)
Nothing - would definitely recommend and would stay again if we were in that area

This place is an absolute gem! We were sent a message in advance to warn us that there would be no evening meal available on the day we arrived (midweek in January), but the lass on duty apologised and found a characterful local alternative venue (and booked a table for us) where we were well looked after and excellently fed.
Our room (Room 1) at the back was spacious, comfortable and very quiet. Decor and furnishings throughout were immaculate - way better than one might expect in a village pub. Breakfast (charged extra, but money well spent) was outstanding - choice of cereals, fruit juices, and cooked breakfasts. The cooked meal was delicious - eggs cooked how you like them, really good meaty sausages, lovely sweet tomatoes (where does anyone find such things in January?), and generous rashers of lean bacon. I'm sure the other items on offer would have been equally good. All served with a friendly smile. These people certainly deserve every success!
I can't think how this could have been improved upon.

A very pleasant welcome on arrival after 3hrs on a m/bike on a very hot August day. Safe place provided to leave my bike.
Shown to our gorgeous room (room 2) with a FAN & on suite. It was a country pub, but the room was huge and really nicely set out. Much much better than you would expect.
We had needed use of an iron etc as we were attending a wedding and had clothes crammed in a m/cycle pannier. I was aware one didnt come with this booking after texting the owner. However the owners surprised us. They purchased a new iron and board for the room so we didn't have a problem. The room probably now comes with this facility.
At dinner I mentioned liking something that wasnt on the menu. I was surprised with it being provided at no extra charge.
Beer was great. Lots of choice. White wine was lovely & cold (day was a scorcher - 36% outside). Bar staff were extremely nice and made us feel very welcome in a pub that was bustling with locals.
10/10. Would have been 11/10 but for
4pm book in, 10am book out!
I understand the reasns a business may want them, but I do tend to look for 3pn and 11am as the norm. when booking.
.... as an aside, if we were in the room earlier I would have probably spent a further £20-30 on your lovely drinks!

Breakfast was freshly cooked to order. Mark and his wife were very attentive. Very welcoming. Dinner was EXCELLENT cooked fresh. Rooms SPOTLESSLY clean, and bath rooms. Came with husband.
And in the king sized room, mum and dad stayed there. Visiting Melton Mowbray. Really enjoyable weekend away! Would DEFINITELY come back again, without hesitation. In fact going to book shortly and bring my daughter for a visit.
There was NOTHING I think they could improve on!
