The cottage was on the edge of a quiet village and was very roomy. It had all we needed for our stay and was warm and comfortable.

Set in a lovely quiet village
No local facilities for evening meal / drink out

We booked this alongside the carriage house for part of a big family group for a local wedding and it was just perfect - it meant everyone could stay together in one site. The rooms were lovely and there was a little breakfast pack provided. The owners were incredibly friendly too!

Very thoughtful
Maybe the heating downstairs could of been better, it was lovely and warm upstairs

Really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was extremely comfortable and clean.

Great location for park and ride to York. Breakfast package was good - varied and generous. Cosy Cottage great to have 2 en-suites and a downstairs toilet. Kitchen well equipped.
No space in the kitchen to store own non - fridge food. No grab rail in the walk-in shower for elderly visitors. Down stair cloakroom sink leaking and downstairs toilet seat needs replacing!

The breakfast hamper was a nice touch, plenty of choice

Lovely quiet location
It could do with a little TLC concerning decoration, log burner and pillows
4.8
Nicely positioned and appointed. Rooms good size
Slight stale smoke smell. No bread for breakfast delivered although we didn’t need it as out of the property early

The location was excellent, cottage clean and comfortable. We would recommend this property to family and friends.
Only a minor, the shower in the main room could be better.
4.8
Comfortable and quiet with lots of thoughtful extras made the accommodation an excellent choice for us

Unfortunately we did not stay at Piper cottage because of a flood but the lovely hosts put up in coach house number one which was very nice.

Cozy cottage, 2 en-suite bedrooms, 5 mins drive from centre of York. Free Breakfast provisions and honesty bar really lovely touch.
Shower in double needs replacing. Towels were a bit mean for the money to rent the cottage. Noisy celebrating neighbours in next rental … though host had kindly supplied ear plugs!

I met host/cleaner by chance to collect keys. Excellent travel and local information, quick responses.. Very helpful and frendly host.
More teabags please, only one set of keys. We were grandparents, parents, children and find key safes difficut late at night.

Lovely property in a really nice quiet village. Had everything you need, comfortable beds and nice little outdoor seating area. Really friendly and helpful hosts.

Good quiet location. Close to York. Handy for the P&R. The breakfast box was a lovely touch.

We really enjoyed our stay at Piper Cottage, comfortable, clean and it had everything we needed. Perfect location for attending a wedding at The Normans nearby and also close to York city centre.

The breakfast was good and what was provided was enough for two days.
We had been advised that the Pub in the village was closed so we went to the Nags Head in Askham Bryan and had a super meal.
Nothing.

Lovely location.
Double bed seemed very small and was very soft. Would prefer a larger bed, and a bit firmer mattress. Would probably not stay here again for this reason but appreciate this comes down to personal preference.

A lovely quiet location with easy check in. I chose it mainly so my children could sleep well and it was great for that. Also, we wanted it to be accessible to York and we found the Askam park and ride 7 minutes drive away was very good and much better value than parking in the city. The house was comfortable and had all the things you would want in a holiday house. My son enjoyed playing football in the garden.
My children found the toilet door of the twin room difficult to shut properly or lock.

Quiet location.
Friendly people.

It had everything you needed away from home. A lot of thought had gone into making the cottage extremely comfortable and welcoming
Absolutely nothing

Lovely place to stay with everything provided.
We wanted for nothing. Everything had been thought of.
Spotlessly clean.
Within walking distant to a fantastic village pub serving excellent value, quality food.
The only thing we would suggest would be more outside lights. One of our party is partially sighted and struggled on the drive going across to the hot tub and down the drive.

The personal touches such as the Christmas decorations, the chocolates on the pillows and the superb complimentary breakfast bits were wonderful.
The cottage is beautiful, traditional and cosy and the location is excellent being only a few minutes drive from York's Park and ride.
Jackie and Richard's informative emails and information pack at the cottage were really useful too.
Very difficult to find any fault at all.

Good communication and lovely house

Beautiful 2 bed cottage. Was perfect for me and my two children. Loved that it had a bath. Really pretty location
Nothing, it was all very lovely
4.8
Great place to stay as it is close to York with the park and ride being close. Very peaceful village.😌

Just about everything. The facilities and equipment were excellent. Dedicated off street parking for our car. Quiet location. Very nice hosts. A great nearby public house and restaurant. Easy access to Park & Ride when visiting York.
May I suggest privacy locks be added to bathrooms doors and that the main curtains be re-hung. The blind to kitchen was unfortunately not operative. A lady would need to be suitably dressed when using interior lighting. And we were concerned that we were charged for cleaning £15.00 per day which was not described in the original booking details. We stayed for three nights and did not have or expect daily cleaning changes etc. No bedding or bathroom supplies needed changing and we ensured all kitchen utensils used were cleaned and returned to cupboards and drawers ourselves.

Was only there for a short time after a wedding in the nearby Norman’s. Comfortable bed and nice breakfast included. The village and surrounding area looked lovely it was just a shame we had to get back for the kids!

Enjoyed the short stay.
Had to ask someone where the property was. Could do with better signage - possibly a larger sign.

Gorgeous cottage and amazing location. The amenities where excellent and the hosts where attentive. Great gem tucked away just outside York city centre.
Everything was perfect.

Great stay in this beautiful cottage. Everything you need is there and the beds are very comfortable. The honesty hamper is a nice touch. The underfloor heating and the wood-burning stove mean that it is lovely and warm. Nice little area to sit outside the cottage for morning coffee and big lawned area nearby. Parking is right next to the cottage, off-road. Great village pub and really easy access to York and the A1. Hosts are lovely and very helpful without being intrusive, thanks Jackie and Richard. Will be returning!
