Mike and Melissa were wonderful. Their house is beautiful and nicely updated. The upstairs guest room was far enough away from everyone else to feel like a relaxing escape from the rest of the family. The dock toys (floats) were fun and brand new. The space was perfect for our needs. We had an issue with bees and spiders but Mike was quick to get an exterminator.

This was the perfect lake house for my family. The lake was a few feet from the house with a great view. Easy access to the water. Plenty of adult water toys. It was hot and humid but the room air conditioners made us comfortable. We had a fair amount of rain but so many covered areas outside made us happy. We would love to rent this next year.

My family (two adult kids, hubs, his mom and our dog) had an amazing vacation. This is a two-building property on Cayuga Lake with a two-bedroom, one bath house as well as a guesthouse with one bedroom and a half bath on the first floor and a bedroom and full bath on the second floor with separate entrances. There is parking for 4 cars. There's a dock on Cayuga Lake which is lovely for swimming, and the sunsets just couldn't be beat. The kitchen was well-equipped as we cooked nearly all our meals there. Also, we had a few issues, to which Mike was extremely responsive.
Some things to know: It is 3 miles down a single-lane gravel road which has a speed limit of 10 miles an hour and even if you drive 10 miles an hour people will scream at you to slow down. Also, don't even look at people's grass because they get really mad if your dog gets near their grass, or you pull over to avoid an oncoming truck.
There are a lot of wasps, particularly in the late afternoon. Also, there are a crazy number of spiders. It was a lot to keep them at bay in the outdoor areas, and they did find their way into the indoor ones.
I do a lot of walking, and I ruined a pair of sneakers walking on the gravel road. If you travel with your dog, you'll want to be aware of this so she doesn't hurt her paws.
I think that's all the things - it was truly a great vacation. I would've planned a little better knowing these things, so I thought I'd share them.

This was our second time staying at the house and we loved it even more! It's a 15 min drive in on Honoco Rd at 10mph, but it's worth it. Loved the two houses and it was so relaxing and quiet. The glider on the dock was so relaxing and we enjoyed a few dinners outside under the covered patio. House has all up need! Check out Long Point State Park and Long Point Winery, too.

It was great! Comfortable…. Peaceful…..we really enjoyed sitting on the dock/ patio each night for sunset. We were out and about each day…. Wineries, apple festival, and Mac kensie Childs art show…. So coming back to the lake each day was perfect.
Any questions we had Michael answered right away… we definitely look forward to doing it again!

I can't put into words how special our stay here was! The property has everything! Family and friends thoroughly enjoyed the cool, clear, refreshing lake with swimming, relaxing in the tubes and kayaking. Our dog has never been so happy, retrieving a ball in the water from sun-up to sun-down! The grill, covered picnic table and firepit were amazing...and the sunsets on the lake....ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR!
Our family now all wants this to be an annual trip! Thank you Melissa!

This was a family trip for 8 adults and 2 dogs. We had a great time. The property consists of a main house with two bedrooms that is right on the Lake. The guest house is a two story home with bedrooms on each floor.
The hosts were great, No issue checking in. The house was well stocked and they were kind enough to provide recommendations on places to eat and see. The home was clean and had plenty of room for our group.
The only challenge is that the house is near the end of a partially paved road that takes about 20 minutes to get out of the neighborhood so when you run out to the store, make a list to avoid forgetting things.
We spent some time at the brewery and winery when we weren’t enjoying the lake. The hosts provided two kayaks and plenty of tubes to enjoy the water and a small pump to inflate and deflate.
We also rented out a pontoon boat at a nearby and had a great day (reserve early). Lake was not crowded and the water was pretty warm.
Overall we had a great time and would recommend the place!

We had a good stay. It’s a great setup for multiple guests. We loved being on the lake and having inner tubes and kayaks available. We enjoyed the visiting ducks, watching all the activity at the birdhouse & eagles soaring overhead. Beware of tons of spiders in the evening around the picnic table. The long drive into the property is that, long, slow, mostly gravel & a single lane. The main house functions well and had all the modern amenities, but floors were “spongy” feeling near the main entrance, kitchen & one bedroom. If we planned another trip to this area, we would consider returning.

This was the perfect place to stay for a wedding we went to. Plenty of bathroom area for 6 adults. I’d definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful stay! Thanks to our great hosts for a fantastic Memorial Day weekend.
- This is the most well-stocked vacation rental I've ever stayed in! Aside from the food you'll need to bring, it has everything you need, from towels, to soap, to board games and coffee, to cooking utensils and filtered water, it's got it.
- Honoco Road is a tight, one-lane, 10 mph road, with the house about 3 miles (20 mins) in. Observe the speed limit, look ahead for incoming cars and pull over, and wave at your neighbors for the stay.
- Long Point State Park is about 5 minutes from the start of Honoco Road and perfect for enjoying the day and/or stowing a boat or launching a boat during your stay.
- Have a boat? Sheldrake Winery & Thirsty Owl are right across the lake, and Lakeshore Winery & Goose Watch are across the lake, a little ways up and to the right. All allow you to dock your boat.
- Don't have a boat? Check out Aurora Brewing and Long Point Winery within minutes of leaving Honoco Road, and Brightleaf Vineyards and Treleavan are also just a few minutes further.
- Need groceries/gas? Stop at the Ithaca Mall on your way up, or head about 30 mins from the house to Union Springs for a gas station and small supermarket. Try to bring what you need and make sure you have a full tank of gas.
- The house and guest house: Comfortable and exactly as pictured. The guest house was cute and perfect for my parents during our stay.

The rental smells of sewer gases. As a builder I can't believe this property is up to code. Unsafe decking, dock, and no railings along concrete upper walls. The neighborhood is terrible. Never again. Property needs alot of work. I had to make repairs while there. I kept the power going, because breakers kept popping.

We loved our stay at Mike and Melissa’s place. The house and guest house are cozy, spacious, and have great amenities. The views from the balcony and outside deck area are breathtaking.
Mike and Melissa were incredibly accommodating and generous with us and our requests. It was our wedding weekend, and they left us a thoughtful card and chocolates to celebrate us. They made the weekend easier for us with their prompt communication, warmth, and understanding. Our friends and family who got ready with us were amazed by the beautiful property. It is also amazing to be able to jump right into the lake—which we did on our wedding morning! Highly recommend to any future guests considering a stay in the Finger Lakes.

Very comfortable cottage on the water with stunning sunsets- a great deal for a family vacation on the lake. We were 7 adults, extended family with 2 Golden retriever puppies. Beds were all very comfortable. Well equipped kitchen. Decor is somewhat dated but all quite functional. Lake water is very clear. Bring water shoes as lake bottom is rocky. Note that there is no gradual water entry and winds cause waves that may make it less than ideal for young children (or pets). Recommend this property for affordable lakefront family cottage vacation.
10.0 / 10.0
We had 3 family members in each house. My brother-in-law also brought along a dog. Great time was had by all, utilizing the easy access to the Lake via stairs. The water was cool, but very clear. We did utilize the inflatable tube, easy to fill via supplied compressor. We did bring in most of our food, grilling etc. We did go to Aurora to the 1833 restaurant, very nice. Great hosts, answered any questions very quickly. Highly recommend by all family members.
10.0 / 10.0
This house is right on the water. Plenty of space for the family with the four bedrooms, two of them in the guest house. The house was clean, and Mike and Melissa were very easy to communicate with. The only area of opportunity I saw was the decking needs to be updated, pretty worn. But overall it was a great stay and I would book again!
10.0 / 10.0
We loved the entire place..especially being right on the water and seeing the sunsets. My husband and I arrived first and picked the upstairs apt in the guest house which worked perfectly for us...lots of space and a private bath. Our grown kids all used the bath in the main house, though we offered ours. The kitchen seriously has EVERYTHING you need to cook meals, except the food! I brought a few pieces I thought I would need, but that wasn't necessary. The kayaks and inner tubes were great. We rented a pontoon boat one day and loaded it from the dock....worked perfectly. The "kids" played video games with their player that they brought..and it all worked smoothly.
The location is a little out of the way, but if you want your family to just be together and not off on their own, it's perfect. At first, we thought the 10 mph drive would be a problem, but it was actually fun to look at all of the lake living along the way. The lake itself, was pretty empty of traffic and most places seem to be used only on the weekends. We only left the rental for dinner at Fargo in Aurora, a hike at Robert Treman State Park (and an Aurora Brewery stop) and then to visit two nearby wineries (Treleaven and Long Point) on a rainy afternoon.
Melissa was very responsive and helpful every time we had a question...beforehand or while we were there. Would love to stay here again!

Property was absolutely beautiful. The private road coming in can be a bit challenging but within a couple of days we got the hang of it. The two houses on the property were great for a large family. Kitchen/bathrooms were fully stocked. Owners responded quickly with questions. The water toys were great. Absolutely stunning views!! The kids caught fish right off the dock. I would highly recommend this wonderful property for vacation!!!!

Nice Place, All the Amenities
We arrived shortly before 3:00pm. We had a little problem getting in the main house as the combination lock didn't seem to work. We had no problem with the guest house.
A quick call to Mike got it straightened out. As it turns out the instructions were written on little cards hanging just behind the door. When followed, the lock works without any problems. In the future I expect the owners to leave those hanging on the door knob. The trip down Honoco rd is a challenge because it's a 3.1 mile drive at 10MPH on a single lane road. If anyone is coming the other way you have to find a spot to get out of the way. Not bad during the week but on a weekend there's a lot more traffic and a lot less places to get over. On one occasion someone was pouring concrete and a cement mixer blocked the way. Quite a challenge when you're driving a full sized van. The property has lots of room and plenty of bathrooms. The toilets all work which is saying something. The sunsets are first rate. The property includes nice decorations and many nice touches including USB chargers, ceiling fans, a decent living room, A/C in each bedroom and every appliance you would expect to find. The guest house is perfect for in-laws, guests or in our case, teenagers. The couch and love seat are dated but functional. One thing we should note is the musty smell when we entered the place. We found that it subsided for the most part as long as you maintained adequate ventilation. It was cool enough to open the two doors with the screens claosed and get a cross draft. The owner says he is working on it. This is also a pet friendly property which is rare and appreciated. Fishing was very good right off the dock. I will note that the stairs leading to the dock were "spongy" and the last part of the dock rocked a little. I would recommend being careful on that part. Still you could catch as many perch as you like simply with a small hook and some worms. A child who never caught a fish is almost guaranteed to catch a few. I even hooked but didn't land a small pike. A boat and down riggers can get you some serious trout. We caught 5 lake trout the largest being at least 8 pounds. Overall this is a very nice property, the owners are very courteous and cordial, the amenities, ambiance and view are first rate and with just a few touches could be one of the best cottages to rent on the Finger Lakes.

Great property!
We had an awesome time here—loved getting in the lake! The house is even cuter than it looks in the online pictures and you wouldn’t believe the sunsets. Recommended!

Away and Relaxed
What a great property, lake, sunsets, relaxation. We rented the whole property for graduation weekend. Four bedrooms were perfect. Three are basically ground floor, great for the oldest knees in our group. We brought groceries, gathered, cooked, relaxed. Kitchen had everything we needed/ wanted, even cookie sheets.
- Be aware the property is an hour drive from dt Ithaca. Half of which is the cute little lake front road of 10mph and lots of waving friendly neighbors. So it is a property to be away from town and cook and eat together. Also get your car gas filled in town :).
Sunset over the lake and a graduating student and a family together are so so worth the drive.

Perfect Lake Property Rental!!
A group of five of us stayed at the property 5/18-5/22/22. This property exceeded our expectations. For our group, the set up with the main house and guest house was ideal so that we all had room to spread out!! The house and guest house were spotless and nicely decorated.
House/guest house was well equipped with everything needed for our group. Only needed to bring groceries and cooking spices/seasonings!
Property sits right on the east side of Lake Cayuga and offered spectacular, unencumbered views of the lake and awesome sunsets!!!!
Drive from main road to house definitely takes 20 minutes but was no problem and every one we passed was friendly and waved! Neighborhood seemed quiet when we were there!
Location of home also made it easy to get to Ithaca, state parks and wineries. Looks like downtown Aurora is quite quaint but we did not do anything there. We did eat dinner one night at the Wheelhouse Restaurant in the Hibiscus Harbor Marina in Union Springs and give it high marks!
Be sure to check out Aurora Brewing Company, Treleaven winery, Cornell Bird Lab and Taughannock Falls!!!
Hosts responded quickly to all of my questions prior to booking and I am sure would have been just as quick to respond to any need while we were there but house had every thing we needed so we had no need to contact them!!!
Perfect lake rental….would stay here again!!
