About this house rental

Launch your vacation from this centrally-located cottage in the heart of OBX, located just south of Mile Post 9 in Kill Devil Hills! You will enjoy the comforts of home and then some all within a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk to beach access and tons of restaurants for the foodie in you!

There are 3 bedrooms (two queen rooms and a double twin bunk room), 2 full baths, a covered front porch with bistro table and chairs, and a downstairs ping pong table and laundry area. The large driveway has parking for four vehicles and is long enough for just about any boat and trailer. You will enjoy all the comforts of home and then some, including high-speed internet, ample seating in living and dining rooms, central AC/heat, ceiling fans, washer and dryer, full kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, and the necessary full pot/K-Cup combo coffee maker.

Location-wise, it doesn't get much better! It's walking distance to loads of restaurants to include Mama Kwans (a locals favorite!), Woo Casa, Food Dudes, Kill Devil Grill, JKs, 3 Tequilas, Pigmans BBQ, Daredevil Pizza, Millers, American Pie, Stack Em High Pancakes, Country Deli, and Booty Treats. Swells'a Brewing, just opened less than a mile from the house & it perfectly accommodates both adults and kids.

Much more shopping is a short drive away, including Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Publix, Walgreens, and tons of specialty beach shops. Like to pack heavy for the beach? There are public beach accesses with parking lots at both Martin and Atlantic Streets (5 minute walk or just a 2 minute drive!). Access to The Nature Conservancy's Nags Head Woods Preserve is just a few streets away and Jockeys Ridge State Park + the Wright Brothers Memorial are just a short car or bike ride away (we highly recommend all three!). Want to interact with some awesome sea turtles? The NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island is just 25 minutes away! There are also numerous water sports rental businesses within a short drive with jet skis, kayaks, boats, and other fun water toys. Is fishing your thing? Both the Nags Head & Oregon Inlet Fishing Centers are just a short trek to the south.

To keep our rates low, we do not provide linens but if you cannot bring yours, we will be happy to provide a list of nearby businesses that rent linens and other vacation needs (beach chairs, baby needs, etc.) by the week.

We have the following extra items for your enjoyment around the cottage and at the beach: 4-burner gas grill with propane provided, bicycles, and corn hole boards.

*** Dog lovers are welcome!!! Up to two dogs allowed but must be kennel (crate) kept if left home alone. One large and one medium kennel provided - if you bring two large dogs you will need to bring a 2nd large kennel. The back yard is fenced to give your dog (or your kids!) a safe place to play. ***

We really enjoyed our stay and everything about the house was exactly what we wanted it to be. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. The neighborhood locals were very nice and welcoming. As someone who doesn’t typically vacations with their pets, this was the PERFECT rental. The fenced-in backyard was a great perk. The house was very clean and is accurate to the listing. We absolutely loved our stay and highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the OBX. Not to mention, you are a prime location for great restaurants.

Everything was excellent- from the host herself to their incredibly clean and comfortable home! It was a perfect stay for us to be close to family and celebrate mom’s 88th birthday. Even the dogs had a great time playing in the fenced backyard! We hope to return soon! Thanks so much for a great stay!

The property is exactly as described. We had our 2 dogs with us and they loved having the back yard to run around and play ball as well as monitoring the neighborhood from the front balcony! The house is very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. Once we figured out the quickest route to the beach, we had fun walking the never ending beach! We’d recommend this house to all of our friends and family! A bonus feature was the neighbor, who was very friendly!

My family and I came to the OBX for a quick weekend getaway to visit family. The house was the perfect location for us, as it was in the same neighborhood as my sister’s home. The house was clean and well organized. It was a very comfortable home away from home and with young kids that is ideal! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect home for the weekend. We will definitely be making another trip soon and can’t wait to stay in this house again. Thank you Ginny for being so accommodating!

Clean, just like the pictures. Kitchen had everything we needed. Cleaning supplies were easy to find and useful for vacuuming up sand. Spacious enough for me, my boyf and our 9 month old puppy who loved the back yard and the quick ride to the beach. Dog crate was included in house which was awesome since we didn't want to haul his in the car. Lots of other dogs on the beach this time of year. This house would be perfect for just eat, sleep, beach in the summer. Host was very quick to respond. Also there are beach chairs included in the house so we brought our own but didn't need to.

Ginny was wonderful to work with. Home was super clean. I was able to walk around barefoot and my feet didn’t get dirty. The home is well stocked and maintained. Games were available to play on rainy days. Master bed is so comfortable. Location is perfect. Can walk to beach, restaurants and shopping.

This property is an amazing place to stay. The location is a very short commute to anything we wanted to see, do and eat. My wife, my dogs and myself thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of the neighborhood when we wanted to wind down. The neighbors are very friendly as well. I will absolutely be returning to this property for another amazing vacation!!!

We only were here two nights as a hold over between two other family stays, but this place was perfect for what we needed. Check-in was easy, the owner was responsive to questions during check in, everything was clean and the house is located next to a ton of things, quick beach access, harris teeter two minutes away, fast food, restaurants, etc. For being so close to the main road the house was also very quiet, neighbors were great.

We had a wonderful time! The kitchen had everything we needed. The porch was a relaxing place to drink coffee in the morning and breathe the sea air. The house was really clean and the backyard was perfect for our dogs. The owners provide beach chairs and bikes to renters. Restaurants, markets and beach were minutes away. I highly recommend, especially for small families.

We loved this house on our trip. The manager responded immediately from booking to check-out, and was a joy to work with. The property itself was very close to the beach, wildlife preserve, and all the other things OBX has to offer. We loved the beach chairs, coolers, bikes, table tennis, tvs in every room, and all the other amenities it had to offer. Would definitely stay here again!

I stayed here and could not have been happier with all the tools and resources throughout the house it has been cleaned out before and had cleaning supplies for the kitchen and a fresh sponge which was very nice considering Covid. I would book again and it being so close you can ride a bike to near by places which we did a lot. 10/10

If you're looking for the perfect house to rent that's central to all the fun, look no further. Great deck on front of the house to catch the morning breeze and a fenced back yard that makes doggy breaks easy! Even better - the neighbors are super friendly! Four bikes? Beach chairs and umbrellas? A newish gas grill with a partial tank and full spare? Who does that? The kitchen had everything, including a great pair of scissors and candy thermometer..... If it's something remotely useful, chances are the Pyles have already thought of it and you'll find it waiting in a cubby/drawer/cabinet/closet. This was our first time using VRBO and it was a terrific experience. The site was easy to navigate and the owners responded to every question quickly (which was super helpful when initially whittling down the properties and making my selection). Take a chance on the Pyles - you won't be sorry. Don't forget to say hello to the neighbor's super friendly dog Albis (his happy disposition made my dogs instantly comfortable in their well-separated back yard).

Owner was responsive to all inquiries. House was in great condition and clean. We brought our dog and it was a perfect stay with tile floors throughout, and nicely fenced in backyard. Had washer and dryer which was convenient. View out front deck was only minor downside. It looked out across street to a business which was not kept. The home has a garage space underneath which was great because there were high winds several days. Beaches nearby were fantastic. Great place to stay in the area.

My wife and I took our two dogs with us when we stayed at this property. We were please to see the deck had a locked gate so that the dogs could roam free on the balcony deck. The fenced in yard is one of the reasons we chose this property. We loved the available bikes, beach chairs, BBQ etc it was a well stocked and wonderful home to vacation in.
