CATHEDRAL VIEW HOUSE - IN MORE DETAIL
Cathedral View House is in the heart of the city within easy walking distance to all tourist attractions, huge choice of excellent shops, the famous Norwich market square, restaurants and bars.
If you don't already know Norwich then you will soon see this as an idyllic historic city with it's medieval city wall still on view, fabulous city walks, a huge variety of great things to do, hidden passages, river boat trips, lots of churches, history and plenty to do in the evening.
On top of this you can be in the countryside within minutes or on the beach in 30 minutes as Norfolk boasts some of the most picturesque coastal vistas and traditional resorts that the UK can offer.
CATHEDRAL STREET - is just off the main strip and next to everything you need to make your stay perfect. 30 yards away from Norwich Cathedral Close, food stores, bars and restaurants and a 5 minute walk from the main station. We are confident you will have a wonderful stay - all our many satisfied guests agree. On the odd occasion the busy streets can be a bit noisy but it is a city so I am assuming that a central location is just what you need.
Cathedral View House was built in the 1850's - 170 years ago and counting - with it's wonderful charms comes the wonderful original features that history brings - wooden sash windows that are single glazed, a quirky hallway, a steepish stairway (with an essential hand-rail), period features, a shower (sorry - not a bath), a door onto the street, a courtyard area and all the wonderful charms of a modern house. There is a small outside area which is shared with other houses - it is secluded and private with chairs and a table - there to enjoy a drink during the warmer months.
Please note that the stairs are a little steeper than average and therefore the house is unsuitable for guests who will struggle with stairs. Due to hygiene reasons we have been advised to ask parents to bring their own travel cots for infants who need them.
THE HOUSE - We guarantee the house will be pristinely presented and clean for the start of your stay. You will enjoy the cosy settings of a country styled self contained house whilst only being minutes from all the action that Norwich has to offer.
There are two good sized double bedrooms with cosy double beds (1 bedroom can have a single bed added on requested/if needed so we can accommodate 5 guests - 2 adults with 3 children), and we have a double or single air bed in the living room (on request too and you will pleased to know that it comes with an electric pump) so we can accommodate 6 guests, free unlimited Sky broadband and Wi-fi, 100 or so channels on FreeView TV.
There is a traditional style but still modern shower room and a kitchen which is fully equipped with all you need for self catering (electric ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave etc) and a tumble dryer, washing machine and dish washer to make life easy during your stay. We also have some choice novels/books/guides, some DVDs and board games for you during those down times.
We love to provide all our guests with as much information about the house and what to do as we can. We have collected a great selection of what's on guide, tourist leaflets and art/culture guides and calendars. We also provide a top tips guide to where to eat, where to go and places to see - we hope this is a great help to you. The info file also has lots of info about the house, which we also hope is useful. One thing to note - this house is a house which is purposely designed to cater for the holiday maker and is not where we live - Cathedral View House is presented to the highest level possible and we are sure you will have an excellent stay.
THE SHORT WALK FROM THE MAIN NORWICH TRAIN STATION - which links to all major UK routes - Is only a short walk (about 500 metres or so) up Prince of Wales Rd on the right hand side - Crossing the River over a bridge, passing places like The Compleat Angler pub, Kwik fit Tyres, Mercy Nightclub on your right until you come to Cathedral Street on your right - walk to the end and you will find Cathedral House at the end of the street (Black gloss painted door and grey brick exterior).
Please note - Cathedral View House is 170 years old. We have prepared it to allow it's vintage period charm to shine through. There are no carpet as all floors are painted and the doors are all stripped pine. There windows are original sash windows and are the usual charming style. The house has all the modern features you would hope for so that your stay is as comfortable as possible. Please expect the odd creaky floorboard or door or wind through the window - it adds to the charm.
For the few coming by bus or coach the main bus station is only about 1km away/15 mins walk.
CAR PARKING - is not free but very cheap.
There are options so please contact me for more details. There are some free on street parking about 1 mile away which do prove to be popular if you are on a budget. CASTLE MALL SHOPPING - 300 metres from the house with all the usual shops you would expect including Boots the Chemist.

Main shopping areas are mostly pedestrianised so head for Tombland which is a 4 min walk and onto Queens St and London St and you are there.
St Benedicts and the Lanes of Pottergate - my favourite part where lots of local shops will give you one of the most eclectic and diverse shopping experiences.
CLOSE BY - there are 20 restaurants and great pubs within 5 mins walk of the house and over 100 within 10 mins walk from the house.
Norwich enjoys a mass of cultural attractions, excellent restaurants, several theatres, a castle, a 900 year old Cathedral which is literally on your doorstep and is set in the largest and most amazing Cathedral Closes' in the UK and not to mention one of the best shopping centres in Britain. If it's shopping then Norwich has a huge pedestrianised centre which includes the big chains but a wonderful selection of independent shops with a hugely eclectic air which caters for all tastes.
Norwich is famous for its huge number of beautiful churches which attract visitors from all over the country and world. Norwich Castle and it's wonderful museum is also only minutes away and we are certain a visit here will be perfect for those rainy days.
Let's not forget the amazing Norfolk Broads and famous traditional coastal resorts that spread along the East Anglian coast - you can be there by car in 25 minutes or more.

Fantastic location and excellent communication with the property manager. Would stay here again 😊

Nice place to stay easy walk to the city center and Riverside.
Might be difficult for people with mobility issues as stairs are very steep
Overall a very good experience/place to stay.

Lovely house, everything you need. Here to visit family. Visit to Norwich cathedral which is beautiful. Lovely Riverside walks. All the shops and places eat in city centre.

This property was very comfortable and great location. The stairs are very steep and could be a problem for some people. The instructions for access could be better as there is a wooden door to the courtyard that you have to go through first in order to get to the side kitchen door, which is the door to access. We buzzed a neighbor and she showed us. She said this happens repeatedly and it is not great to be bothering the neighbors.. It was never easy to contact the owner as we had to go through VRBO and that required a new code each time. Would have preferred direct access via text/phone. We ran into problems with the washing machine and our clothes got locked into the machine. Owner was unavailable to assist and this caused some stress as he said he wouldn't be able to help us for 24 hours. That was a problem Finally got them out by unplugging the machine but he could have been more helpful. I don't think he knew how to operate the washing machine himself. Otherwise, after that crisis, it was fine and we were happy with it.

We enjoyed our stay and the location midway between the rail station and the city center. Only issue was an occasional smell of sewer but we noticed there was street work so maybe that. Stairs are extremely steep, if you have any mobility issues this isn't for you. Pub at the corner was concerning, a rough crowd that I'd avoid day or night. Bedrooms need blinds.

Very charming and adorable. It’s close enough to walk to pretty much everything and 2-3 mini marts very close to get food. We had 2 issues but nothing that could have been helped. 1-close to a bit of a party street and at night it got very loud til after 4am. 2-no a/c and it got pretty warm in the house… having to sleep with the windows partly open to get so air made the noises from street harder to sleep. I did finally ask for a fan and we got 1 but had 2 rooms. We should have asked for fan(s) sooner. We did very much enjoy our stay overall, we walked from train station to the flat, were able to cook, do laundry and having a view of cathedral from both bedrooms was great!

A near perfect visit to Norwich
The house and decor is charming, we discovered walking back one evening the surrounding area to be a little uncomfortable. This was easily remedied by taking an alternative route via the Cathedral area. The house on the surface was very well presented but the floor in the kitchen, and part of the bottom of the cooker looked like it needed a deep clean.
Great spot if you are catching the train into Norwich.
That said we loved the house, it’s location and Norwich.

Lovely home on Cathedral St
A nicely renovated terraced house, 2 rooms down and up, happily the bath is upstairs next to bedrooms. Very well taken care of, great shower and toasty warm when the temperatures dipped. The hosts were very responsive- would stay there again !!

Great house in the centre of Norwich
Great little place almost in the grounds of Norwich Cathedral. We used it mainly as a base for days out in Norfolk and Suffolk but also had a lovely wander around Norwich with the kids on a rainy day, visiting the Cathedral, food market and and shops. The property itself is clean, nicely decorated and well equipped with everything a family would need, including a reliable, high speed internet connection, washer, dryer etc. It is a typical smaller Victorian house with a steep and fairly narrow central staircase, but it was perfectly fine for two adults and three under tens. Less mobile visitors might struggle with getting up and down the stairs though. Being city centre, parking is restricted directly outside of the property however there is a multi storey 2-3 mins walk which cost us about £6 a day and always had plenty of spaces available. There's a Tesco Metro and Budgens just round the corner and a variety of other places to eat out. All in all, highly recommended either for a couple of days visiting Norwich or longer periods as a base for exploring further afield.

Great location
Great location - a couple of minutes walk to the area round the cathedral. The house is small but comfortable and makes the perfect base to explore Norwich. Parking at the nearby Rose Lane car park was convenient. Norwich itself is lovely and has a wide range of excellent restaurants.

Perfect base and well located
We had a lovely stay in this property. It was very clean, well equipped and clear, helpful and good communication with the owners. It is perfectly located to explore Norwich and as a base to do day trips around Norfolk and Suffolk.

Lovely base for a family break
We had a great stay at Cathedral House. The property was perhaps slightly smaller than we were expecting but that wasn't a problem - the main thing was that it was very clean and suited our needs perfectly as two adults and a toddler. The owners made sure there was a highchair and stairgate available at the property which was helpful. The parking at the Rose Lane is nearby and very convenient. There's a lot of takeaway food places at the top of the street and a Tesco Express, with a Morrisons only a very short drive away too for getting supplies. Norwich city centre is only about a 10 minute walk up the hill and we spent the day at the coast which was only a 35 minute drive away. Thanks for a great stay!

Cathedral House
Renting process good, no problems.
On arrival didn't see any parking/unloading permit for 4 hours as stated in the details.
Some of the crockery and cutlery we dirty.
But apart from these two minor issues, the stay was good. Location good for access to the city.
Property was good, clean and comfortable although a bit chilly at times.
All in all a good stay.

This was a well furnished and comfortable cottage in the central of Norwich. Close to everything.
Graeme and Collette were great, and very helpful. The house was comfortable and we'll laid out. The location was good for us, but the area was very noisy on Friday and Saturday night, due to the close proximity to the club district. The bedrooms could do with blackout blinds

Great location and cosy home
Lovely property in a lovely city. We were very pleased with our stay, great interior design I commend your taste.
Only two negatives. Mattress ready for renewing and needs a bigger couch in the living room, it would not be a cosy room if four adults were to stay. If it hadn’t rained so much we would not have spent as much time in as we did and probably wouldn’t have made the couch comment.

Lovely house
Had a great long weekend, clean, well equipped and with warm comfortable beds. Central to everything, plenty of restaurants and pubs/wine bars to choose from. Can highly recommend and hope to stay again

Comfortable and well- decorated and looked after house in a great location
Lovely and well- equipped home in a great location with a short and pleasant walk into central Norwich . Graham and Collette were very helpful before and during our stay . Car parking was easy with a secure multi-storey car park nearby .

Pretty little house....
....but the week was a disaster: the house was not clean upon arrival, there was an attempt to unlock the door after I had settled in; the heating dident work, because the WIFI dident work and it took good Graham three days to organise the latter.
The little house is near the station and the neighbourhood favoured by students, thus maybe if that had been known in advance it would not have come as such a surprise, that as of 6pm the house next door seems to serve as a discotheque with endless booming hard disco sound, endless and always the same beat; and poor Graham tried to solve that one too.
In short, not an experience one would wish to repeat, despite an owner who tried to solve each and every one of the disasters.

Super accommodation in a lovely city
The house was lovely, very stylishly decorated and had everything we required. It was also very handy for access to the town with a Tesco Express- just a few minutes away.

A perfect house for visiting Norwich
I had a great time with my family in this beautiful house! The owners are really kind, always helpful and asking all our enquiries at any time. The house has been totally renewed a few months ago, so it is very comfortable and everything works perfectly. It is also very well located and you can walk easily to visit the centre town. There is a parking nearby cheap and safe. So, I would recommend absolutely this house for staying in Norwich!

Great property in a central location
Short stay visiting family. Lovely decor throughout, central location made it easy to venture out. Parking is a bit of a pain due to council restrictions outside the property. Owners were very helpful and friendly
