Pub very well located for the centre of town and close to the river. Ideal for an overnight stop on the way to Pembrokeshire. Though it has no parking of its own, next door to the more than ample Castle Dell Car Park, which for us was important, as this car park has EV chargers (22kw 3 phase). Breakfast was very good and staff very friendly.
We were put in the pet friendly disability access room (though I should point out that we didn't need the disability, just the pet friendly). For those booking this room, be aware of the following.
Room opens directly onto the street outside, so there is traffic driving past your window, and while it does quieten down at night, the speed of drivers down the 20mph road is scary. As pointed out we did not need the disability access, but would question at how well this room meets this requirement, as the bathroom is not access friendly and the space either side of the bed is very limited as well. Additionally, the bed is very low and extremely soft and it gave me a bad back. Also the access the the beer cellar is on the outside at the back of this room, so we had to put up with the noise of what I think was the beer chiller all night, and then in the morning there was a beer delivery at about 6.30 in the morning, and so was woken by the sound of the barrels being moved around.

The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was fabulous! And the staff were all incredibly friendly. Would definitely stay here again, if I’m back in this area.

Absolutely fantastic breakfast.
Would have been good to have a small fridge.

The location of the Inn was great for us.
It was good value for money but would have liked a bedroom upstairs with a better view of Chepstow Castle. I would good there again

Found the place, ncp right next door ! Bonuscas pouring with rain ! Pub was full bing a Friday afternoon. Booking in stress free and taken to room. Proper older wordle with separate full bathroom proper old school. All centuries old wood and stone panelling, really quirky which we both love. View of Chepstow Castle from garden. Definitely worth a stay as Chepstow Town lots if bespoke shops etc and Racecourse 10 mins by vehicle.
Did not really not like anything about the place, very quirky and old fashioned which we both enjoy. We missed a trick with the breakfast as I had to work, but it did look fantastic and I believe is already included in the price.

Excellent breakfast and staff were great.
Room was quite small but warm. Bed unfortunately was too small and en suite was clean but tiny.

A lovely friendly pub. Warm and welcoming staff on all occasions. Breakfast was hot,, tasty and plentiful.
We stayed on a Sunday night,, there was a band on in the early evening who happened to be great: an added bonus.
The room and en-suite bathroom were a bit too quirky for my personal taste ( very rustic: rough uneven floorboards, an antique bed that was very low to the ground, heavy wooden toilet seat etc) so I did not find it a relaxing environmen and the room somehow felt dirty because of it ( in reality it was a bit dusty that's all)
If we stayed again I would ask for a different room.

Breakfast excellent. Really set me up for the day. The staff were really helpful. Just what I needed after finishing Offas Dyke
Nothing. Highly recommended.

Staff were great, and got in touch even after the pub had shut (I arrived very late after being stuck in traffic, and couldn't get in initially).
Breakfast was nice, and the room had everything I could have needed. Definitely recommended.

Very close to our work for the week.
Staff were very friendly.
Plenty of alcohol options and a large scenic garden to drink in.
Decent breakfast.
Some super weirdos drink there and pester you in the garden.
Can’t complain too much about locals. We all have them.

Breakfast and location were good.
We were not mentally prepared for the “rustic” character of this lodging. I would not recommend it for elderly folks - the doors are heavy, difficult to manage; the floors and room fittings are very uneven.

Evening food would be good!

the courtyard was so inviting and it was definitely a meeting place in the community.

Staff helpful, breakfast good, good location
Old furniture, not as clean as hoped, people passing by the window could look in, it was very close to the road. All felt cheap.

Good to stay in a place with history. Interesting mix of hotel, pub and venue for music. Excellent breakfasts. Meal served lunchtime but not in evenings but excellent Italian restaurant nearby.

Nothing, all perfect. Thank you

The only saving grace was the Shower was hot.
The door to the room (#4) was right off the road outside the building.
The room key was difficult to get in the lock from outside.
The chairs were upright, hard and uncomfortable.
There were holes in the ceiling.
I could hear the people walking around in the room above.
The bathroom had a gale blowing through it, very cold.
The heating shut off the next morning so they had to provide space heaters for night 2.
All in all thoroughly dissappointed.

Good location, friendly staff, comfortable room, amazing breakfast and a fantastic price, me and my wife were up in Chepstow for the Welsh grand national, and stayed the 27/12/22.
Would definitely stay again.

The breakfast was stunning loved the old style of the beams. Bedroom was gorgeous with our own bathroom. Staff very friendly and we loved the corner by the log burner.

The location was fantastic. On the edge of town about a 2 min walk into town if needed. The pub was next to the castle and adjacent to a reasonably priced car park. We arrived around 3.30 pm on a Friday and left Sunday morning and paid £1.90 to park the car. The pub itself was always busy and everyone, staff and customers alike were friendly. The sausage rolls on the bar were nice too. Breakfast both mornings was great, cooked the bacon just how I like it 👌 The room was oldie worldie with wonky wooden creaky floorboards. It all added to the charm of the building.
There was no noise insulation from the bar below so you could hear conversations between customers and staff at all times of the day.
There was a band playing on Saturday evening which sounded like they were in the room with you. They do mention this though so if I thought this was going to be a problem I wouldn't have booked. They did not play late though so all was good.
