Our family recently had the pleasure of staying at the Castle, and it was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the castle's historic charm and stunning surroundings.
Accommodation: The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, combining classic elegance with modern comfort. Each room offered breathtaking views of the estate, making our mornings truly special. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring restful nights for all of us.
Amenities: The castle is well-equipped with amenities that cater to us all. We especially loved the sauna and the wood fired hot tub, as well as just sitting out and enjoying the views of the grounds.
Service: The owners were exceptional. They were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. From ensuring we had all we needed to providing history of this amazing place.
Dining: The dining experience was another highlight of our stay. Going back in time with the ancient stove and enjoying the historical kitchen amenities and dining room was nothing short of glorious..
Simply cannot say enough about this wonderful place. We will be back in the future for another stay.

We loved everything about this property. Staying in a castle in a Scotland was EPIC! From the warm welcome with a castle tour and exploring the grounds it was like stepping back in time. The property was the perfect place for the 12 of us to enjoy relaxing on the patio enjoying the garden views and the castle had many rooms to enjoy with a large group for visiting. There is also a vast number of rooms to choose from with spacious rooms and plenty of privacy as well. The castle is in a great location for home base as we went on many excursions to the coast and to many castles nearby. The grocery and fish market are close so we were able to cook some meals together and there are several restaurants within 10 minutes. We would definately highly recommend and we hope to return someday.

Our family group had a wonderful stay at Colliston Castle. The accommodations were beautiful, each and every room so pretty and cozy, despite the castle's size, and the hosts (John and Sue) couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. They were kind enough to allow us an early check-in and greet our first arrivals with delicious cake and coffee. They also looked in on us periodically to make sure we had everything we needed. The castle is perfectly located near the quaint seaside town of Arbroath, a short drive to the grocery, and not far from other interesting locales. We took a day trip to Loch Ness (marvelous boat tour!) and Inverness, with some of our crew visiting St. Andrew's, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Stirling, and a nearby whiskey distillery. All of us did the Arbroath cliff walk--breathtaking! WiFi worked great in the kitchen and breakfast areas, where we mostly used it, and the showers ran nice and hot. Not a spec of dust in the vast place and the grounds were absolutely lovely. We came from North Carolina, Virginia, and New York USA, and had a fantastic family reunion--our first since COVID. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did. Watch out for the pheasants driving in. :)

The space is excellent for 16+, inside and out. Superbly arranged bathrooms and a real adventure feel with generously equipped kitchen as well as crockery for special occasions. All levels are relatively easily accessible even for people with mobility problems. Whereas the adults enjoyed the walks around the castle, our children (2-10) enjoyed the well attended gardens and lawns with football goals and toys/footballs. Host John was extremely helpful and generous with wood fuel, information and any sort of help. I cannot fault anything in our stay except it was too short.

Colliston Castle was just perfect for our family holiday. Loads of room inside and out. Charming, comfortable and surprisingly cosy. AGA was great for warming croissants and pastries for breakfast. The hot tub and sauna were both used well. We've rebooked and looking forward to next year already

A unique venue. Fabulous amenities and accommodation. Just right for our group celebrating a 50th birthday. John and Sue have a fantastic castle. The owners are a joy to deal with. The castle is steeped in history and gives an almost magical impression, set in stunning grounds - what is not to like? It is larger than life and does not disappoint. My advice? - just book it!

Great location for our family gathering. Quiet, spacious, historic and entertaining. The local bunnies and the two robots helped us smile and get a laugh or two. Our hosts were most gracious and the gardens and grounds are extensive and beautiful. Kitchen is well outfitted and stocked with utensils and cooking needs. It has a delightful AGA to cook along with two traditional ovens and a ceramic top Hob. Highly recommended.

Had a great week at Colliston castle. John and Sue were very welcoming. Everything was clean and the kitchen well equipped. Having two dishwasher was a bonus. There was plenty of space to play and the grandchildren enjoyed playing hide and seek in the garden. We were lucky having mainly dry weather but if it had been wet there were games and books in the library and room to get a bit of piece and quiet if needed. Lovely beaches nearby. I would recommend a stay here.

Amazing stay at Colliston Castle!
We enjoyed every minute of our three nights at Colliston. The castle is wonderful, even better than we had imagined. Communication with owners was excellent and they kept us up to date with changes relating to covid and household restrictions throughout. We'd definitely love to return!

Fabulous weekend retreat
We had a fantastic weekend at Colliston Castle. John and Sue gave us a tour on arrival and gave us some history of the castle which was very interesting. The bedrooms were beautiful and very comfortable. We had everything we needed, especially in the kitchen where we catered for 14 of us with no trouble at all. We loved the public rooms with plenty of space for everyone to get together. The dining room was stunning too. There are plenty options for casual and formal dining and we made good use of these. The grounds are beautiful and you are not far from the town if you need anything. Everyone in our party loved the castle. Our little one who is 3 spent the whole weekend dressed accordingly as a princess with armour!!! Our elderly relatives made good use of the stairlift and could access all the amenities. John and Sue were excellent hosts, going above and beyond when I had some car trouble when leaving. Thanks so much for that! All in one. we loved our stay. We can highly recommend this property to others and we really hope to return in the future! First class!

We booked this venue as someplace we could have our wedding. We wanted it to be intimate with only a few guests who could stay over if they wanted. The castle was perfect for what we wanted and the owners couldnāt have been more helpful.Plenty of space for everyone, comfortable beds in spacious rooms, lots of outside space for the kids and dogs to run around. Kitchen facilities were good with plenty of fridge/freezer space and large coolers. Couldnāt have asked for a better venue for our wedding and would wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone looking to do the same.

Camerons' Review
Very impressive, more than adequate facilities, all spotlessly clean with all necessities provided for a party of 15, including a welcome food package.
Beautiful location providing peace and quiet, with lots of outside space for adults and children as well as 6 dogs.
The childrens' toys provided, including bikes and scooters, were very well received.
The only slight criticism was that the hot tub provided was hardly in an ideal location, and should have had some attention after a couple of days.

Colliston Castle - Our Special Place
From the moment I found Colliston Castle through HomeAway, I knew it was my dream come true. My family consumes anything historical- not just names and dates but the stories. We found it all here! Itās a place most of us can only dream about, but for 10 days, it was real. When we arrived, John and Sue greeted us personally, made us feel welcome and John gave a tour of the home. Complete, easy instructions were provided as well as a history of the castle. To live for a short while within the walls containing hundreds of years of history was surreal. While reading through the history of the castle, we enjoyed the delicious homemade tea cake Sue baked for us. The grounds are exceptional, peaceful and serene. I found myself drawn to them, just to absorb the peace and tranquility they offered. We all found ourselves strolling around at different times, rain or shine.
Inside, the furnishings are beautiful and so appropriate that we felt at home. All 12-14 of us loved the kitchen, taking turns cooking. We loved the AGA!
The many and varied books in the libraries throughout the castle are a treasure. We turned on the tele only once for a few minutes. Instead, we found ourselves drawn to the libraries.
One rainy night, we sat near the fireplace and shared stories. The sensitive sensor lights in the hallways only added to the ambience of the place. The bedrooms are perfectly furnished and the beds extremely comfortable. They were most welcoming after days of exploring and visiting nearby sites. The castle is in a perfect setting, yet perfect for day trips to almost anywhere!
A perfect holiday, thanks to our hosts. They were nearby only if needed. The only thing I noticed as we left, we all wished their dog had come to visit more often!

Magic holiday
Much anticipated holiday in a castle did not disappoint. Fourteen of us - three generations- loved the romanticism, the space and the comfort. It was always warm, the beds were exceptionally comfortable, and with multiple cookers, dishwashers and fridges, plus oodles of cutlery and crockery, catering was a breeze. We also loved the garden and grounds, with its huge drifts of daffodils and stately trees.

Another fabulous family weekend at the Castle.
This is the third time we have been to the Castle - itās becoming an annual event in our family. The property is spacious, comfortable and perfect for a family gathering. Plenty of large rooms for everyone to gather in but also lots of places to retreat to if someone wants a bit of peace and quiet. Sue and John are lovely hosts and couldnāt be more welcoming and helpful. We are already planning our next visit!
