I was booked into Room Number 4 which was billed as a "Superior Lower Deck Double". On entering the room I noticed a small fruit fly, and then another. When I pulled the curtains and put the lights on, I noticed dozens of little flies around the lights. It was a horrible room and not very clean. I complained to receiption and to be fair they moved me to another room pretty quickly, although it wasn't too far away from Number 4. I didn't notice any flies in that room.

Stayed in suite 604, on the 3rd floor, we would definitely stay there again as it felt like a home from home. Very spacious lounge area with kitchenette. The room & bathroom perfect size with Elemis products. Loved all the art work at the hotel.
3.9
Room was incredibly hot and stuffy even with the window open.
3.9
Average hotel, but expensive for what it is. Small rooms and fairly shabby public areas of corridors / lift.

Served a purpose for a one night stay.
Wedding meant no use of bar/restaurant available so felt more of a B&B (but without the breakfast as that would have been extra)
Parking £16 from 4pm - 1030am. Had to show them my card transaction to prove I had already paid for parking at check in. Was told it was another £5 to extend for an hour to allow me to grab a coffee. I declined. Bedroom - basic but served it’s purpose. Was quite hot on top floor so had to keep window open.

I would stay again in a heartbeat. The staff were wonderful and the whole stay was just a great experience!

The staff here are great, would happily stay here again.

There was no room service. It was missing tea/ hot chocolate went to the reception to ask for some and they couldn't give me any. I couldn't get a hot drink from the reception. I have a cancer and needed a relaxing stay and I picked this place for the amenities and felt let down. The attitude wasn't great.
Also there were a few ants in the bathroom.
3.9
Bed was incredibly uncomfortable, the room was tiny and cramped, and the fixtures in the shower did not work.
3.9
Beautiful room, gorgeous bathroom and loved all the small touches like free fruit and loose leaf tea. Very comfortable stay, would 10/10 recommend for anyone coming to the area.
3.9
Great location for walking to the Berkeley campus, and easy BART access. Very comfortable.

My 6th time since 2012. Beautiful tucked away hotel. Brilliant helpful staff. Gorgeous Art Deco features. Every room full of plush furnishings. Wonderful view across the park & Bristol. Lovely bathroom. Complimentary Teas, Coffee, Fruit, Sherry & biscuits - all available for extras during our stay. Very comfortable beds & seats. Very quiet despite being in the town centre. Staff often discount my booking & could not be more accommodating.

Perfect stay

This should be a standout hotel but some basics are missing. Positives are the reception staff (a special thanks to Megan, the assistant manager, who kindly let us swap one of our nights). On the downside, we stayed in one of the Deluxe Suites but It's not made clear on Hotels.com that these are not in the main part of the hotel, they are in fact in a separate, very old building around the corner. Not a big deal but if you've got a lot of luggage be prepared, as our room was up two flights of narrow stairs. The room itself is lovely, high-end fabrics and tasteful decorations, however it was let down by having dirty crockery and surfaces in the room. The welcome note referenced welcome biscuits but they were missing and the complimentary fruit had seen better days. Again, not a big deal but if you've paid the top rate for the best rooms, you expect better. Another issue, which is referenced in other recent reviews, is the lack of access to the hotel bar and restaurant. We wanted to visit both the bar and restaurant on Saturday night, but both were closed for a private event (we also overheard another guest complain the restaurant and bar were out of bounds because of a wedding on the Friday). Both the bar and restaurant were closed for business completely on the Sunday evening. Finally, housekeeping chose 8:45am on Sunday to vacuum the corridor next to our room, it's an old building with paper thin walls and single glazing windows so street noise is an issue.

Very small room , hotel undergoing renovation by looks of it , never got to experience the restaurant or bar as there was a wedding there day I arrived and bar was shut on the Sunday

So welcoming at all times
Clean but the suites are looking tired in places
That said I will not fault suite 2 it was the best comfortable bed I have stayed in
The shower room was great and the lounge was to die for
I will definitely return
The parking was so easy

Tiny room (39)with crumbly walls. I’ve stayed in lots of Bristol hotels this was off the scale appalling value. 143 for this room was outrageous

Lovely hotel, great location staff friendly and helpful, breakfast great. Room dated and in need of update. Would stay again.

What a weirdly wonderful stay at this special place. The chef is amazing, staff, from reception to waiters, all lovely caring people, to all the funny little details, for example the little welcome drink in the room, the combo retro CD/tape player and oldschool phone. Funny and warm. Bathroom could use an upgrade, but I didn’t care about that. Lovely place.

Utterly delightful one night stay here. Staff were helpful and friendly, room was perfect for a single traveller and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Very friendly helpful staff. Nice hotel in a quiet area but not far from centre.

We have enjoyed a stay at this hotel before but not in one of the suites, so when we received a suite on this occasion we were really pleased at how well appointed, clean and comfortable it was. The staff are always great at this hotel and the rooms and food good but the suite was at a totally better experience.
3.9
A reliable and comfy place to stay. Each room has all necessary facilities, though the plugs are few and far between. I always have a good night's sleep here!
3.9
Very disappointed in the hotel and I'm surprised it is categorised as a 4 star!
The bedroom needs refurbishing as it has stained textiles, faulty heating, tired bathroom fittings, carpet marks, a blocked extractor fan and ceiling damp (see photos).
The friendly receptionist was the only positive and he did his best to fix the heating (which was locked on high), but I ended up having to 'sleep' with the windows fully open to get some cooler air into the room.
I stay in Bristol almose every week and wanted to try this hotel, but I will not be going back sorry.

I was excited as we had booked a "superior double room" the only things that could be considered superior were the bath and the fact they have elemis products in the bathroom along with mini prosecco and brandy.
The room was tiny, the smallest room I've ever stayed in. The pillows on the bed were lumpy floppy and yellow. There was a smashed picture on the wall. There was dust on the woodwork at the side of the bed and also on the towel rail. The toilet brush was disgusting and under the basin of the sink needed cleaning. They had a notice in reception that they were having a refurb, so maybe that room hadn't been done yet. Maybe advertising it as superior is a bit of a stretch. If it was advertised as a basic double and the prices reflected I wouldn't have been so disappointed. I don't want this to be a moan I'm just highlighting areas that were lacking in my opinion. The dining area looked beautiful and I appreciated the decorations that they had put up outside and in reception.

This may have been 4* 20 years ago but nothing has been spent maintaining it. Mildew on silicon, no control of n heating and generally feeling run down

Recently stayed check in was good room not so good bath and toilet was dirty on arrival room needed decorating, curtains did not close properly also noisy what was nice was the complimentary items which I enjoyed
Also when room was cleaned while I was out I got back to find that all my toiletries that were on the shelf above the sink had all been moved and put in my toilet bag instead of leaving on the shelf

I selected this hotel as I liked the unique style of the hotel / room . Very professional staff and extremely helpful with good customer care skills and good problem solving … I shall re visit Bristol and I’ll certainly be staying here again 🤗

Positives - Overall Great, got a room upgrade to a suite, very comfortable and overall, clean. Nice bed and all the facilities you could want. The concierge/reception was great and good customer service. I didnt eat there.
Negatives, £18 a bit steep for breakfast... couple of hairs on the shower head... and not much insulation on the old windows, so when the binmen came at 5am it woke me up as it was loud and lasted forever.
3.9
The rooms were very dusty, with there being layers of dust under the bed along with various trash items. I was told this was due to people calling out sick, which I understand, but the amount of dust under the beds seemed to be from more than a few days. In my first room there was also a lot of misc trash items under the bed, like a rogue pill. There was also mold on the ceiling and around the bath.
I asked if this could be vacuumed and I was given a room swap, the new room was better on the mold front, however there was still a grey layer of dust under the bed. The shower in the new room leaked and got water all over the floor when used.

I recently stayed in the Berkeley Square Hotel for one night and ate in the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. My room was well equipped and cosy. My only issue was a stone cold shower - it would not get close to warm despite being on full temperature.
3.9
Pleasant room, pleasant safe convenient location, nice staff dedicated to this hotel, good value.
Only let down by hairs left in bathroom and bath ,bed not particularly comfortable .. would I stay again, yes I would.
3.9
Felt that choice of food in restaurant was not great. Very pricey.
3.9
Very nice hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and tidy and had some nice complimentary touches.
Good position in City centre with lots of good bars and eateries within close proximity.
3.9
The single room was worn and shabby. The tap and toilet flush were both broken. Bath, and supplied chipped and in need of re grouting. And the whole thing was in desperate need of a refurbishment. Not an enjoyable stay.
3.9
Great reception team. Both friendly and helpful.
Good choice for breakfast in a lovely dining room overlooking the square.
Room was clean and tidy. Good shower if somewhat small bath tub.
Good value for money. Quiet location within walking distance of the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
