In the middle of nowhere on the other side of Mabalingwe which is nice to see the other side of the mountain range, very quiet.
I always love going to Mabalingwe game reserve and spending time searching for animals, the game drives, relaxing next to the pool and the dinners at the restaurant.
Read the reviews, have an SUV and thought it would be fine. Part of the road you really do need 4x4 esp. if it is raining. I found I had to plan a day out or away from the accommodation in the bush due to the time taken to travel and get up earlier to get to the game drives and drive in the dark on unknown roads after dinner at the restaurant. Pool water gave a very strange rash every time climbed out the water. No TV (rainy days) No aircon (hot hot days) one fan to carry from area to area. Very cloak and dagger/ hush-hush about the accommodation’s location which is very strange and suspicious. Still don’t understand why the honest location can’t be disclosed before booking. Very hard to find location even with pin drop cos it doesn’t take you to actual cottage and it’s only sent when you are at the entrance gate …..? Felt a bit like I was in someone else’s space even though no one else was in sight, but I was watched. Thought it needed a shower door.

The apartment was nice, clean, and well equipped; overall we had a pleasant stay. You are remote and it takes some work to get there, but if you plan to come and stay at the lodge and not go in and out a lot, or if you don't mind the 30 minute drive to everything, it's a great location.
As other reviews noted, it's a 30 minute drive to the reception area, and the last 10 minutes of it is a dirt road - some parts of it are a bit dodgy if you're not in a high rise. Also, the wifi doesn't really reach the apartment; fortunately we had MTN service out there pretty good.
Also, actually finding the place wasn't hard, per se, but also wasn't super easy. We never did get a pin to the actual house, so the last 10 minutes on the dirt road was a bit confusing where it actually was. The host gave us directions, but they weren't 100% clear if you've never been there before. And when we finally got to the property gate, there was no one to meet us and another guest had to let us in. So, could definitely improve in the check-in department.

The restaurant had good food
The quietness in the accommodation
cleanness of the pool
Restaurant was far from the accommodation area, probably more than 20minutes drive.
The road to the accommodation had no signs ,had to ask people on the way.
Please do not go there when it is dark, you will definitely get lost and there is no network signal for GPS.

The pool and fireplace facilities were absolutely great. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Would love to come back

The staff member that we saw was friendly and we loved the old dog.
The location is terrible and an uncomfortable distance away from the main restaurants and pools, the road to get to the property is bad and if you dont have a high rised vehicle you stand a good chance of damaging your vehicle, this should be indicated on the property info. Power was off for 90% of our stay, even outside of loadshedding times. Excesive amount of moths in the property. No daily cleaning service included as one should expect from a "lodge" stay. No tv and no wifi as indicated.

There was no breakfast. Actually I regret going there.
There is no reception and things that are on the add like coffee and tea in the room are not available and there is no one to ask or a place to inquire/reception.

The directions to get there once you are in the reserve is very bad.

The tranquility was lovely. Beautiful cottage and comfortable living spaces.
The steps was difficult to navigate.
