Beautiful property, kept as authentic as possible without compromising comfort. Ralph is incredibly friendly and a great host. The breakfast spread had great variety and was fresh and delicious!
4.5
Ralph was a fantastic host, the hotel was beautifully renovated and central. Everything was walking distance. Continental breakfast was fresh, varied and a great start to the day.
4.5
Very quiet, comfortable, clean and a great location. Host was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
We loved it. The hotel is a very old heritage listed building in remote Tasmania that is being restored to its former grandeur. As long as you keep that in mind and don’t expect a 5 star city hotel you will too.
4.5
This hotel (whole building) is registered as an Australian heritage. Exterior and interior are so classic but it doesn’t mean bad. Honestly it’s pretty good and nice.
4.5
Old Heritage Hotel turned into a B&B. Quirky, nice and had some fantastic history.
Ensuite bathroom was across the hall. The owner did explain that the heritage listing prevented them doing otherwise.
4.5
Great location and heritage listed building from 1898. Ralph has done a great job refurbishing and running the place, and he is extremely friendly and shared many old stories and historic photographs of the hotel.
Room was clean and made up very well, and breakfast was generous.
Occasionally you could hear cars passing by the main street if you stay in one of the street facing rooms.
4.5
Heritage building with a modern and spacious bathroom. Clean, comfortable and a substantial continental breakfast. The host Ralph was very welcoming and gave us a great run down of the history of the town and hotel.

Spacious comfortable room. Our host was very friendly and helpful. Admittedly we were a little worried when we first arrived as from the outside it looks a bit rough but was very nice once inside. Great location, close to the train station and local pub for dinner. Very nice breakfast spread timed to suit our early departure.
On street parking only.
Bed was a bit small but still comfortable.

It's a charming hotel located in the heart of Queenstown, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. The hotel offers comfortable accommodations with a touch of Georgian rustic charm. You'll enjoy warm hospitality, free continental breakfast, and a cozy atmosphere. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind after exploring the scenic wonders of Tasmania.

Wonderfully restored old place with lots of stories from the owner about the excitement and challenges of taking this place on. Breakfast was amazing.
Bathroom was not ensuite, but was very conveniently located across the corridor and was for our sole use. Lighting in room a bit dim, perhaps?

Lovely historic hotel. Quiet room looking out over balcony & main road. Very comfortable bed. Rolf? was extremely friendly & knowledgeable & provided a good, varied breakfast.
Slightly dark room even with lights on.

Very central location, with a simple but very tasty breakfast.
Host was very forthcoming with information on other sites we could see in and around the Queenstown area
Nothing we didn't like about Queenstown

Loved how the owners have spent so much time renovating the hotel back to its former glory

Renata was lovely providing a lovely balanced breakfast with some good conversations about the local area and life in general. Bed was very comfy with a warm electric fireplace for the cold night. Bathroom was very maintained. When we got back from our day trip we also found the kettle replenished, truly going the extra mile in my book.

Ralph was a fantastic host, full of knowledge and history about many things. The rooms were comfortable and well presented, with little extras - like chocolates. This was a lovely place to stay and very clean, well. Maintained.

The wonderful old building expertly restored.
Lack of parking, something the local council should allow the operator to address.

The attention to detail in the entire property was amazing. To see how much effort has gone in to maintaining the history of the building was wonderful. The owners were extremely accommodating and more than happy to share the history of the building, and to show us around. Highly recommend staying here.

I think our hosts' names were Ralph and Renate. They were lovely people. They were very helpful and accommodating. After getting the heater controls sorted out, our room was toasty warm for the two nights we stayed. We loved the hospitality, and oldie worldie charm of the Hotel. It was old, and a step back in time. Our room and bed was GREAT. The NEW bathroom was BIG, and very good, although cold. We suggested (to Ralph) that a heater in the bathroom would be a good addition. The breakfast was FIRST CLASS, linen table cloth etc and plenty of nice food. Ralph & Renate have done a great job so far with the rejuvenation of the once, grand hotel. GOOD VALUE for money. Ralph & Renate still have a lot of work ahead of them renovating the building, but I congratulate them on their achievements so far. It was a wonderful opportunity to imagine staying and being inside the hotel in its hay day!
The reality that can't be avoided is that outside of the building is tired. It is old, and initial thoughts ... not the best, but the room and our hosts and the old architecture won us over very quickly. It is different ... if guests don't admire old buildings that have a story to tell, they wouldn't like it.

Breakfast was a big buffet. Lots of choice and good knowledge of the area by our host. Great chat with Ralph. Parking is easy and town is quiet.
It is a bit cool in winter :-)

We had a lovely stay at Hunters Hotel. The heater was on in the room when we arrived. We especially loved the comfortable warm bed on a very chilly night in the middle of winter. The private bathroom across the hall was bright and spacious. The buffet breakfast downstairs in the bar was very good with a selection of breads for toasting, cereals, fruit, ham, cheese, tomato, avocado, yogurt and spreads. Centrally located only a few minutes walk to restaurants, the Wilderness Railway station and art galleries, etc. The owners are very friendly and helpful and have worked hard to restore this wonderful old hotel which is a work in progress.

The heating in the room is very good. The breakfast was good too. Ralph and his wife are very lovely people who tend to our requirement.
Private bathroom access is via the hallway.

The host was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the area. The renovation works being done in the hotel are saving some historical details that help tell the building's story. Great stay.

Loved the historical content of the location and Ralph was an engaging and entertaining host, sharing insights on the town and the history of the property. The bedrooms were quiet and warm, the atmosphere was very relaxing.
Bathroom was newly renovated but could do with a heater to also warm the room in the mornings.

This is a charming, renovated historic hotel with alot of character. The room was beautiful with vintage decor. The owner, Ralph, is a warm, kind person and prepared us a great breakfast. We will be returning there on our next visit to Tasmania!
Possibly adding a small bar fridge in the room to keep perishables.
