Lovely room! Nice and clean. Be careful if you have an allergy!

Lovely room, clean and comfy bed.

I explained I was coeliac and couldn’t eat wheat/gluten. My breakfast came with only GF bread. Had a sausage that wasn’t GF etc. Allergies are extremely important so my only advice is this pub needs to invest in some staff training on allergies for both staff front of house and the chef.

Great cosy place to stay in Essex

I loved the cosy room and the also the dinner and the breakfast.

My computer couldn't connect to their wifi, so I couldn't work. But that was not their fault!

Good place but bathroom needs urgent repairs.

perfect location, historical building

the bathroom in the bedroom was tiny and the floor tiles are spongy, literally sinking… you walk towards the toilet or shower and you sink.

Great value for money, welcoming and a wonderful breakfast.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Rooms were cosy and very well appointed - an iron/ironing board, hairdryer, bottles of water, tea/coffee making facilities and really nice 'white room' toiletries. The bar was great to have a drink (we arrived just before 9pm), and the pool/darts room was fun. We had a really great time. The next day, breakfast was outstanding, absolutely huge and delicious.

Nothing! Would definitely go back, would be nice to be in a warmer season so we could take advantage of the lovely outside area as well.

The rooms are a good size, and are clean. There is plenty of parking on site. A nice bar and restaurant on site.

Friendly extremely helpful staff who helped me book a cab, friendly lively pub, nice bed, powerful shower, unfortunately I missed breakfast which I'm sure would have been nice.

Reception was ropey out there, however that's no one's fault and there is WiFi for the rooms.

It is a lovely place to stay and the pub sells great beer with excellent food in the restaurant.

Location is good and the services at the bar and restaurant were good.

I was over charge but was refunded with a very generous discount. I am now a satisfied customer.

Good stop off on our journey. Pleasant enough, clean comfortable. Easy parking. Breakfast was good.

There was a little noise from the pub but not too bad and didn't go on late.

Very pleasant pub stay

Pleasant pub / restaurant, with comfortable room in a separate annex. Good provision of towels, tea and coffee etc. Good dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff. Easy access to Maldon.

Saturday evening so stayed a little noisy outside till later and someone in their room after midnight. Shower refused to go above 38 degrees.

The room was nicely decorated and the shower powerful and hot. Breakfast was really good.

The bed was too soft for us leaving us with sore backs but that's probably more a preference thing. We didn't know there was a tribute act and disco that night which proved a bit noisy but nice and quiet when finished!

Being able to check in on arrival, earlier than the stated time. Friendliness of the staff. Incredibly close base for a wedding at Captain’s Wood Barn. Freshly prepared breakfast. Large car park. Clean rooms.

The bed was a bit hard. There were a few daddy long leg insects, hanging from the ceiling in one of the bedrooms and in the hallway.

Comfortable stay with nice breakfast.

It was a well appointed room in a building which was seperate from the pub/restaurant. There was a small bar area in the pub where we had a drink before bed (we weren't planning to eat here because of our other commitments, but the breakfast was very nice. The room was well appointed and very clean. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

No problems experienced. It was a very quiet on the day we stayed but they had a big dining/function room which might bring a large number of people in from time to time.

My partner is vegan so it would have been nice to have vegan sausages etc

Small beds and not very good lighting for my partner to do her make up.

Nice comfortable pub with friendly staff and above average food

The rooms and restaurant were spotlessly clean and the staff were excellent. They even new how to make a proper Irish coffee which is becoming rare as many expensive restaurants either don’t know how or can’t be bothered!
