A slightly quirky hotel that we found comfortable and accessible
The hotel is situated in the high street between shops and possibly was an old traveller’s hostel. It is a real old hotel with nice staircase access to the rooms, just a pity there was no lift for our heavy case, although the receptionist offered to take our case upstairs. Our room was rather small at the rear of the hotel, although it had been refurbished to a good standard, was very clean and tidy and was therefore quite comfortable. There is continuing work on the exterior and scaffolding is in place outside, not that the view at the back is good. There is adequate parking at the rear, but if you are there after 6pm, the parking restrictions in the high street lapse until 9am next day, so plus the two hour parking you can get parking right outside the main door. The restaurant is quite nice, with a good menu and it was noticeable that there were quite a few locals in there. As Baillieborough is very much an Irish Country town, the hotel presumably acts as a community centre in terms of events for the residents. The food was nice and hot and the service was good with quietly efficient waitresses. Breakfast next morning was taken in the, I think, ball room. The range of buffet items available was not extensive, but was totally adequate and hot food was available to order. In any case it is always a mistake to overeat at breakfast, when the cost is included in the room rate. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and fulfilled our needs adequately.
Not much really a lift would have been helpful

Affordable, Friendly, perfect location
Had a lovely stay here last weekend. Friendly staff, good hearty breakfast menu and a lovely bar with good Guinness which also had a fab evening food menu. Saturday evening was busier than the Sunday we are, so do book ahead for a table if that is something you need. Very affordable hotel also so Would definitely rebook. Thanks everyone for a comfortable, friendly experience 😊
