Very cosy and old English style. Breakfast mediocre but that's what it's like at most hotels. And I have visited a lot of hotels in Europe.

Good value stopover for a shopping trip on the way home from a weekend away. Good central location within walking distance of everything.

Pleasant hotel and good central location for Baskingstoke. Friendly staff and everything we needed for our short stay in town for work. Happy to recommend and would stay again when the occasion arises. Great to have free parking too!

Specifically called twice to request a walk in shower, before I booked and after, even upgraded the rooms to be told on arrival that the rooms did not have a walk in showers. Which meant my calls and upgrades were both pointless.

Hotel was perfect for a one night stay. Free parking in the centre of town, with restaurants, pubs, theatre all in walking distance. The hotel was fine, our bathroom was clean and spacious with bath and shower, bedroom decor was nice with comfy bed, the carpet in room needed a clean but everything else was fine. We didn’t eat or drink in the hotel so can’t comment on that, would stay again for one night.

Great area. Lots of charity shops. Found great deals! Staff was helpful, but ringer in phone was off. Made my taxi. Lovely people. Clean around heated towel rack, especially the feet area and the Silver area next to the toilet it always needs to be wiped down and disinfected. Thank you for the heads up about the party you had. It ended at 11 PM like they said it would

Lovely hotel room and in a convenient location, in the middle of Basingstoke town centre. Only issue was a leak from the bath tub.

This 'hotel' is tired and in need of some renovation or at least a little TLC.
The room wasn't dirty but felt dusty and there was a build up of dust behind furniture. The carpet looked like it was rescued from a Wetherspoons and I was reluctant to remove any footwear. Light bulbs in lamps were broken or missing. The room was on the cool side and on inspection the original sash window was open by a few centimetres and was covered with some secondary glazing. On attempting to close the window it seemed that it was stuck open and I was worried that using too much force would rip it from the frame. Hence the secondary glazing I suppose. It wasn't too bad for my stay but I would imagine it would be drafty and cold later in the year.
The bathroom was OK but again the shower over the bath was quite old and not the best and there were some signs of discoloured grout and tiles.
There were signs of peeling paint and dark, grubby marks on the walls and this along with the poor state of carpet and repair was also visible throughout the corridors.
The staff that I met were great. Very friendly and helpful. I didn't make use of the restaurant and bar but from a quick glance they seemed reasonable.
I would very much question how this establishment has achieved an 8.2/10 rating as for me, even without the issues I found in my room, I couldn't say it was more than 5/10.
All in all a rather disappointing experience.

I stay here regularly and have never had a problem. The location is great, within walking distance of the town and shopping centre. The price is always reasonable. The staff are friendly. The breakfast is good. I can't comment on evening meals as I have never had one there due to the proximity of local restaurants and takeaways.

The hotel itself is of a very good standard - no frills, but this feels 'environmentally' sensible in this day and age. But good, simple accommodation and friendly, efficient staff at the welcome desk. We've dropped some stars in a couple of areas though. Firstly, the access gate leading to the pedestrianised street was not lit on the Saturday night of our stay - it was totally dark, but you could hear people loitering there. Secondly, the smoking area directly under our window seemed a regular gathering place for 'non-residents', who could be heard asking for alcohol whenever a hotel guest came out from the bar for a smoke. Our window was open, on account of the heat, and this was quite a racket around midnight. We feel that the night porter should have moved these people on - after all, the hotel does advertise as having quite rooms. But we did enjoy our two-night stay, and will certainly use this hotel again, as it is very conveniently situated for the town centre, and well-priced, too.
