I really enjoyed my short stay at The Fisherman’s. I only stayed 2 nights due to train issues, but the cancellation of the third night was very straightforward.
The room was very clean and comfortable. My only issue was creaky floorboards. I woke at 6.30 one morning to the noise of creaky floorboards and it was as if someone was outside my room. I’m sure they weren’t, but it spooked me a little bit. I realise that the property is very old and little can be done about these things, but I thought it worth mentioning.
The breakfasts were excellent.
Thank you to Tracy and her team.

If you’re searching for a hidden gem that perfectly blends seclusion with convenience, this is the place to stay. Nestled just off the beaten path, yet within easy walking distance to the heart of the village, this charming pub is everything you could dream of—and more.
The moment we arrived, we were enveloped by an ambience that exceeded our expectations. This isn’t just a place to stay; it’s an experience—a cozy, vibrant pub that exudes character and warmth. It’s exactly what anyone from the USA envisions when they think of a quintessential Scottish pub.
From the outset, we were welcomed like old friends. Millie, with her infectious warmth, went above and beyond, effortlessly lugging our suitcases upstairs and ensuring we were equipped with all the information we needed for a perfect stay. After settling in, we couldn’t resist heading downstairs to soak in the atmosphere over a local beer and a glass of wine. Tom, ever the gracious host, even took it upon himself to expertly parallel park our rental car, a gesture that perfectly captures the level of care and service here.
Inside, we were introduced to Jo, Tom’s incredible partner, whose warmth and hospitality made us feel instantly at home. She introduced us to a wonderful cast of characters—Craig, Derek, Jack, & many others—who all contributed to the unforgettable atmosphere of this magical place.
If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the true essence of an authentic pub experience, this is where you need to stay.

This is a good hotel for the price. The staff was friendly. The rooms reminded me of a dorm room in uni. But everything was clean and comfortable. Having the restaurant right below was a bonus as we were able to get food/drink almost on demand. It’s busy though so make a reservation for your dinner. Parking is very challenging — you literally drive around until you find something and then hope it’s close enough to the hotel. Everyone was friendly and, for the price, I’d definitely stay here again.

Great pub, excellent location. The room we had was very small.it was too small for 2 people.it really was a squeeze with our suitcases.
We had room 7 it was very hot, the out side temperature wasnt hot, about 17, but the room was very hot.,too hot
At the end of the stay they said they had a fan in the office we could have used ..
but it should have been in the room.
The pub food was great and the bar was excellent

Well looked after from arrival to departure, including finding us a new room as we had ended our stay too early. Great breakfast and friendly bar service in this ideally situated hotel in Broughty Ferry, for a 1 week golf trip around Carnoustie!
I would stay there again - no hesitation!

Nice ambiance at the Pub. Good tasty food.
Superbe room.
Little remark concerning the breakfast in the morning, we were apparently disturbing the person in charge of too many tasks (rooms, breakfast, check out, ...)

Convenient location, limited free parking, thin walls, and staff not friendly or helpful. Food at bar was good. Patrons of the bar were friendly and more helpful than staff.

We felt so welcomed, especially rolling in at 11pm. So welcomed in fact, that I couldn't resist a few pints and a few interesting conversations! My daughter has accepted at St Andrews so we will definitely be coming back !
Cheers!

I had a wonderful seafood risotto. I have never had so much seafood included in such a dish. My husband had macaroni cheese with haggis topping which he thoroughly enjoyed. The panaccota was delightful.
Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The place has a lovely friendly atmosphere. I would certainly recommend it.
