The Ryder hotel was in a great location, super walkable to all main "attractions" of Charleston. Also loved renting the bikes and riding around the charming neighborhoods. The pool / bar area was really nice to, and we enjoyed getting a drink at the bar and lounging on the daybeds.
Our room was pretty dark (not really any natural light at all) but luckily not a major issue since we didn't spend much time in the room. Also one of the days we were there, they were setting up for an event and therefore had to take all the pool area furniture away (which wasn't ideal given there was no notice of that happening).

The hotel was in a prime location for walking in Charleston, the room was beautiful, and the beds were comfortable. We also enjoyed the adjoining restaurant and coffee shop, as well as the bar and pool area for relaxing in the morning and evenings. The staff were very helpful and tried to accommodate our requests. The rooms were lovely and we enjoyed our stay.
We booked a king room and based on the listing photos thought that the room would have a stand-alone bathtub, which was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel and room style. Our room only had a shower, so the staff was able to move us to a shower/tub room for the next night, but we had really wanted the nice bathtub and had requested that when booking if possible. Parking was overpriced at the hotel - we were able to park in a lot less than a block away for half the price. We also were hoping for a little more resort style amenities in the room such as a robe and slippers, but it was pretty much a standard hotel room offering.

Great location beautiful decor
The staff was not knowledgeable to where our room was. We walked around for 20 minutes, looking for an elevator to the fourth floor. There was construction in the room right underneath us. We could not sleep when we wanted to take a rest during the day. The hotel was not full and they could’ve put us in a different room, I was disappointed with our room location

Great location, friendly front staff. Was able to get early check in which was huge. Good quality hotel. Very trendy, hip design. King room is very spacious. Nice bar/restaurant and pool is a great feature. Go early to get your lounger. Love that you can sign out bikes, skate boards, coolers, beach chairs, etc. That’s a great amenity! Great coffee shop in front lobby. Also, in check in area, coffee/tea set up in the morning is nice and day of check in there is a free cocktail hour.
Absolutely horrible wifi. Barely worked and could barely get onto internet/apps. Had some work to do and had to leave hotel. If going to the pool, you had to walk all around the building to access it when in reality, there was a door directly to the pool very close to the room. But since that door didn’t have a key pad it was always locked. Hotel should install and keypad door to make it convenient on guests. Also, there’s no view from most of the rooms, and the pool, restaurant and lounge is kinda loud until 10pm or so at night. There were also ants in my room.

The only negative we experienced when we ordered a nice red wine to our room it came in plastic latte cups which was very strange. I did mention to reception on departure and they seemed quite shocked so doesn’t sound like that it’s a common problem.

I was initially traveling alone and became nervous. A friend ended up joining me but your hotel gave me the comfort to know I could have and will travel alone!
Everything was amazing! Location, accessibility, staff, food, pool, drink, coffee… all of it!
All the accommodations. Cleanliness and comfort as well. I will stay again and recommend for sure!
I think our first night we were hungry at 11:00 and just wanted to hit a vending machine for a snack. I know a vending machine doesn’t fit into the decor so we just made sure we had snacks the rest of the time we were there!

Rugs were filthy in hall ways. there were mosquito's in the room. The room smelled musty. The walls are paper thin and people in the hallway sound like they are in the room with you

The facility fee is a joke. They have four bikes which were unsafe to ride. They have four Polaroid cameras with no film. Not enough beach chairs or towels or amenities to satisfy 10 guests and charge everyone. It’s a scam.
The place operates as a giant bar masquerading as a hotel.
5.0
I loved the ambience, decor and comfortability.
The staff who worked in other parts of the facilities (The Little Palm) weren’t knowledgeable about other areas of the hotel facilities, and could be dismissive when asked for information. As if they aren’t working as a part of the hotel.

Location and the bed was very comfortable. Pet friendly.
Pool was always very busy

Cute Vide. Good location. Definitely pay for the king size bed. The larger room is definitely worth the upgrade cost.
Service at the pool was a bit week.

The location and amenities- especially the pool and restaurants are super great. The rooms are quiet. The customer service here is phenomenal. It was really handy having the yoga mat in the room.
The room wasn’t as clean as expected and the linens were stained (but clean). The pillows are kind of useless and completely flat.

The location, facilities & vibe were all amazing. The staff were all very nice & quick to help when needed but not in our faces. The coffee stand, access to bikes, lounge areas & food were all fantastic.
That I had to leave....

great location.
Rude staff, not willing to help. Not knowledgeable about the area, One of the staff said he doesnt like the city and doesn’t get paid enough (not motivating for guests to hear that)
food and drinks was poor quality and overpriced for what you get. The complementary cocktail was tasteless, the coffee in the mornings was poorly made. For the price of the room they didn’t even give a snacks or crossing for breakfast, No hand soap in main bathroom, asked them maybe 3 times, they said we will refill, a few hours later no change, at night still no soap, they finally said they don’t have enough cleaning staff
the rooms were cheaply redone (broken door handles, peeling paint, dirty carpets, cheap furniture, rooms are overpriced for what do you get. Low pressure in shower, shower didn’t stop dripping ( mentioned multiple times to hotel staff, they didn’t send someone multiple times and never fixed it), dressing gown ( shown in many Instagram photo) was poor condition and dirty (didn’t look like it had been cleaned). No duvet cover or mattress cover (gross) Tried to move rooms based on very loud music, after they weren’t nice about it, they moved us next to the garbage bin. No iron or steamer in room. Asked to have them bring one up, took 1 hour to bring up.. the towel rack in bathroom fell off as we walked into bathroom. Poor quality

Clean, unique, vibey
The room was loud during the day, proximity to the bar. We weren’t in the room much so this really wasn’t an issue
4.0
The location and cleanliness
Our room backed up to the courtyard so privacy was limited.
4.5
Quiet and convenient location.
No coffee maker or mini fridge in room.

The location and room were great. We walked all the main attractions and the staff were very helpful with ideas for restaurants and cocktails. The pool bar was our favorite nightcap place.
Nothing to really say here.

Loved the overall aesthtic, the welcome cocktail, the decor, the pillows were the best, the robes, the location, the access to beach chairs, towesl etc. loved the bar and the pool area- overall was a really wonderful boutique hotel right in the middle of charelston- would 100% go back!

the valet and front desk person were very welcoming. the hotel is a manageable size. they have coffee available in the morning and if you want something fancier they have an in-hotel coffee bar. They are close to a lot of the hot spots. very easy to walk everywhere (which is why we chose them). it was very quiet except the dumpster on Saturday a.m. (our room overlooked it) but VERY clean. and the room service was a pleasant surprise.
VERY expensive. We were there for a conference (SEWE) and expected to pay but got nothing really worth the extras. and our room looked over the back alley garage. beware the taxes in Charleston are very extensive (already knew this) but on top of that and the $50/day parking fee was the $29/day fee to use their bikes/skateboards/towels etc. NOT applicable for us and not really appreciated. the restaurant was ok. too cold for the little pool. So it met our needs but in no way exceeded. Oh, and if you want a mini-fridge they don't keep them in the room. you have to ask.

Location, cleanliness, pool. check in was of ease. cleanliness.
We did not like the constant club music playing in the courtyard all the time. At least it shut down by 10-11pm, but annoying it was loud even in our room.
4.5
Creative design, fun amenities, and a great staff!
There is no gym or fitness center but there is agreement with a nearby gym

Great location, and great staff
Carpet in the hallways and in the room were filthy. Very low water pressure in the shower that got even worse when the room next door used theirs, sink was very slow to drain.

The pool and pool bar are beautiful.
great drinks and amazing atmosphere.
The hotel smells lovely & was very clean.
The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful.
ROoms were super cute and very comfy.

the location for my purposes was great. Renovations making front desk accessible only by stairs was inconvenient but do-able. Staff could have been more attentive to helping with luggage.
long hallways and inability to contact front desk by phone in room was a bit disconcerting. In case of emergency or fire or simply poorly acting guests could have created a problem.

The Ryder Hotel is one of the BEST boutique hotels I’ve ever been to. It’s absolutely adorable, the signature scent is amazing and the staff is so friendly. 10/10 would recommend them!

Free bike rentals were amazing! The bikes are super cute and easy to rent out, they give you locks as well. No time limits you can rent them all day. The beds are super comfy and I have sensitive skin so I appreciated the luxury bedsheets. House keeping comes everyday and cleans up, it was nice to have fresh linens and towels everyday especially after a beach day. They also rent out free coolers and beach games if you head to beach but they go quickly so wake up early!
The pool is stunning!!!!!
Room's do not face the pool or street in my experience, instead facing a parking lot.

Great decoration and large rooms, the pool area is very nice
The building is partly in renovation, so it was quite noisy and I could not access the outside of the room

The location was great.
We found out after we arrived that the hotel was under construction. Loud drilling and pounding could be heard all day long. Upon booking, nowhere did it say on their website that there was active construction taking place. The construction crew was right outside our window which was very uncomfortable for three females. We couldn’t even change in our room or open our blinds the entire stay. We had to take turns changing in the bathroom. Next, our room was dirty upon check in. There was food and the previous guests makeup in the dresser. Some of the staff members were very helpful as others were very rude. Not one person emptied the trash from our room. I had to ask for trash bags and take it down to the front desk myself. We were extremely disappointed with our stay!

Pool/Bar
Construction … my room had zero view- I was looking at a wall and loud construction
2.0
Good size rooms and comfortable bed, steamer and umbrella were handy. The staff including valet were very friendly and helpful.
We were not advised that the hotel had construction ongoing prior to travel. The pool was always packed because they allow guests that do not stay at the hotel to use the facilities. The cleaning crew missed a few things like the tissue in the bathroom, we left the empty box right on the sink counter so they could see it was empty, it was there when we came back. Body wash bottle in the shower was empty, front desk had to come to replace it.

Super cool and retro hotel
3.5
Room not as clean as I would hope. Stylish. Construction limited the views, an easier entrance and added noise. Pool was too small and too in demand. Overpriced.
4.5
Location was amazing as was the staff. The facility was undergoing renovations, which will be completed shortly was the only slight negative,
