historic house with charm. liked the fire burning stove. really kept the house warm! Nice to have a common area and a front porch.Water was always hot.
could really use updating. even if it's just the bathrooms or the walls. also the lighting is dim some areas. Was dirty in the pull out bed. had peanuts in it. TV screen was burning out a little. the Parking can be confusing but the staff was able to direct us in a friendly matter.

Charming old home close but not right in the middle of Harper’s Ferry.
Steep spiral stair case and having to cut through one bedroom to get to the other but it’s an old house so it’s expected.

Great location. Very clean. Loved the decor and antique furniture. The air conditioning worked great, it was in the 90s and both floors of the house stayed nice and cool.
The driveway is very tight when getting onto the road. But not really a big deal at all if you take it slow.

It is a beautiful, charming, clean property. Check-in with code is smooth. Location is walking distance into downtown Harpers Ferry. Air conditioning is working and vital to the stay in July. Outdoor patio is an additional bonus. Price is absolutely fair.
There is an odd tension between a 'check-out' checklist and a request for tips for the cleaning people. Guests are told to strip beds, load and start the dishwasher, empty the garbage, etc. That is all fine, but the repeated references to a tip envelope just seem a bit tasteless in combination with that. We were worried about being charged extra for 'failing' this checklist, and it absolutely ruined our last hour on the property. As we drove away, we still worried about whether we left a fan on, or whether we took everything from the refrigerator. We did not leave a tip, and as people who typically do that, we felt guilty.
I want to emphasize that this is a fabulous place, but the messaging or policy about check-out can be improved.

It had some character.
1. Massively under-air conditioned.
2. No A/C in middle bedroom upstairs.
3. Incredibly hard to get the address and entry information. When I called 30 days out to retrieve I was told to call back within 48 hours. When I called back day of I was told to go to some booking.com app by the host. I asked her for the address and she spoke so fast I could not capture it. I asked her again and she was annoyed with me. I asked her how to get into the unit and she again referred me to "emails sent to you by booking.com" for which I had no emails and I was driving. When I asked her for the code again to help me she was again very annoyed. Finally she texted me the door code but that text didn't have the address. Then I get another text with address but not door code. Chaos.
4. Mean, angry, rude host expressing constant annoyance when I ask simple questions like "what is the address?" and "what is the door code to get in?". Instead of telling me, she goes into a big rigamarole about some booking.com app to make me feel stupid and incompetent. I've never heard I needed to use that app and have zero emails from booking.com other than original confirmaton, which DOES NOT HAVE the door code and I was driving, so could not read the invoice. Why make customers feel bad? Why not just give them the address and door code *without* running them around?
5. Top bedroom bed had an odd mattress that you could feel a line/ridge across it.
6. Unit wants YOU the paying guest to strip the beds and help with that part of housekeeping.

The location was convenient to restaurants and shopping. The outside of the home had character.
On one of the coldest nights of the year, we entered the home to find there was no central heat only a wood stove and a few space heaters. It was so cold there was ice frozen in the toilet! The lighter left at the house didn’t work so we had to go back to the store to buy a lighter before we could even start a fire.
The steps were extremely steep and the bed was not comfortable at all.

Great location
No heat except for two small space heaters to heat whole house. It was not a comfortable place or felt safe seeing electric socket taped to wall. Dirty rags were stuffed around the window air conditioner to insulate. It had very windy stairs to upstairs bedrooms (not good for older folks or small kids). The main bedroom was up steps and you had to walk through the other bedroom to access bathroom so probably not best set up for multiple people.

Charming, historic home. Lovely!
There is no heat so be prepared when visiting Oct-April. The coffee maker did not work well.

House and location were good and parking was a plus.
The pet fee was unclear at booking. 35 is a bit high and the cash payment was not see on email so we had run to get that at a charge. Don’t say pet fee MAY apply. Say 35$ dollars and cash payment required! I couldn’t find any info on any reservation sites.
The stairs were fine for us but you really need to give heads up to people aren’t as nimble. They are not easy.

Great location! Easy to walk downtown and close to a nice bakery, restaurant, and bar.
The only suggestion would be to give more specific instructions for entering at the back of the property and not the front. We arrived at night and it took a little time to figure out how to enter the property.
A new hairdryer would be great!
