Excellent breakfast, very helpful staff. Our train was late and so the owner stayed up late to meet us and was there at the door when we arrived.

The person who checked us in,cooked, served and checked us out was an outstanding young man.
Elevator but we could use the excessive and assume it helped with the price

Room 6 had two windows facing the chapel and it was airy.
Last month, I stayed at this property (Hotel-Café-Burg Stahleck) for 2 days. They gave me room 6 on the first floor, with windows facing the chapel.
The room itself is spacious and airy, but after my first night I started itching. I didn't think much of it until the second day when when I visibly developed rashes/welts and everything became incredibly itchy. I reported to the property but they just ignored it after quickly looking at the bed and saying "there's nothing."
I checked out, took the train home, and during the next few hours it flared up everywhere--my face, my back, my arms, my legs, my hands--I couldn't close them into a fist anymore. It was severe. I landed in the hospital and they kept me for 6 days--taking various blood tests and biopsy. The diagnosis is official--cimikose or bed bug bites in german.
I have medical documents and photos of the incident but the property refuses to acknowledge my claims and booking.com is dragging this case and just giving me automated apology letters and a 22.50 EUR voucher.
It's been a month now and I still have scars all over my body. I had to throw out all the clothes and luggage I carried with me on that trip. It has been nothing short of traumatic and I would like to warn anyone who's interested in staying here (Hotel-Café-Burg Stahleck).

We were scheduled to arrive between 7 and 8 pm. We arrived and it was raining hard. The door of the hotel was locked and there was a phone number.
Someone picked up and said there was no availability, but the website said there was a room available, so we booked and called again. No one answered, and we called three times. We had to pay for this hotel and then had to find another hotel.
In the morning, I went back to ask the manager, and asked why he didn't at least call back, when he saw the reservation,
he said he was in the toilet, then the shower, and said we should have waited, although the website specifically said,
no arrivals past 8 pm, which it was.
The manager became very aggravated and grabbed my cell phone, to take it away from me, and then another person pushed me. At that point, I left the hotel in a hurry.
This is deplorable behaviour, and no one should ever give patronage to this hotel.

The attitude and professionalism of the personnel. Felt welcome and taken care of. The location is perfect and the views from the cafe are beautiful. The railway is not really heard here. The beds were good, the breakfast fine. A cozy place. The food was fine as well.
The rooms are maybe not as modern as they could be, and our three person room only had views to another house 3m across -- but it was quiet and the town is otherwise so pretty that this does not matter much.

Room number 7 was very spacious with cool wooden beams dividing the bedroom and windows/a door on 3 sides of a patio squeezed in between two sides of the building. There was a mini fridge and we had two bottles of water in the room (one still and one sparkling) each night. The bathroom was enormous and had a tub, sink, bidet, urinal with lid, toilet, and shower! The space was private and the Wernerkapelle was out the window. The hosts were very polite and respectful. The house is old and not fancy but it felt like it had been lived in in the past. The restaurant serves a wide variety of middle-of-the-road German food, pizza and wine for a reasonable price. The hotel is steps from the path to the Postenturm, and if you descend the trail from the chapel you’ll be delivered right to your front door. The hotel also provides a place to lock bikes in the back.
The only thing they didn’t have was a fan for the hot nights. Fortunately with all the windows we were able to get air into the room. The patio should also be cleaned when the room is cleaned. There is some car noise from the street if that bothers you - the street looks very small but I think it is the main road through the town and up into the mountains.

The location was fantastic! The people were so friendly and accommodating. If you are English speaking you'll be a little challenged but well worth the visit. The food and breakfast are amazing!
Everything was well beyond expectations. Nothing we didn't like.

Breakfast was excellent.
Though breakfast was excellent, it was a little on the pricey side (cost 13.50 euros. Would be better prices at 9-10 euros.)

What a wonderful place to stay! Bacharach is a perfect positioned city to visit castles and other small villages around. The hotel was very clean, comfortable, and friendly. It is run by a lovely couple and we couldn’t not have asked for a better stay. We will be staying here again in the future for sure.
6.0 / 10.0
- The room itself is spacious (except for the bathroom that is the tiniest I have ever seen).
- We had a room looking to the side street so it was very quiet.
- The owners are nice and happy to accommodate the guests.
- The location is really central and thus convenient if you just want to have a walk or you are there without a car.
- The parking that belongs to the hotel is 10-15 minutes walk uphill outside the city walls. For those who come by car the hotel location thus has no benefits as opposed to other accommodations closer to the same parking, on the contrary.
- The bathroom is extremely small and shower is difficult and potentially dangerous to use. Even for thin and short people it is hard to get into the bath to have shower as the sink and toilet are next to it on each side. Furthermore, the bath is extremely slippery and tiny. I would suggest at least providing a mat inside the tub.
- Although it is written that the facilities are non-smoking throughout, occasionally there was a heavy cigarette smoke coming into our closed room (both doors and windows closed) in the evening. We also noticed the cigarette smoke coming from the staff room when passing by.

Friendly owners/taff.
Breakfast was very good.
Our room was a 'family' unit, which meant we had a lot of space. Long flight of stairs to reach it.
Location very good, just some minutes away from the main sights and the docks, which you'll certainly use to take a boat for some tour on the Rhine.
The cafe is open for breakfast thru dinner (19 hs) and is quite good but not pricey.
They have some parking spaces about 10 minutes away, very convenient. The walk there is delicious, and you can go thru a 'painters quarter' (Malerwinkel).

This is a pearl in Bacharach. A small family owned hotel with a restaurant who served great food. Perfect location and lovely staff. We enjoyed it. Highly recommend this place.
