About this cottage rental
Located in Cromford near Matlock in the Peak District, the cottage dates from 1765 and offers a relaxing and tranquil holiday setting away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Steeped in history and part of the Derwent Valley world heritage site this beautiful cottage was once a local lead miners home. It became known as Tinsmiths Cottage because later occupants made pots and pans for the village.
Please note: A full refund will be given if guests are prevented from taking their holiday due to Covid restrictions. Last minute short stays are welcome.
The cottage accommodates up to 6 people, has a spacious oak beamed lounge, dining room, two toilets and well equipped kitchen.
The ground floor houses the kitchen and dining room with a large table and six chairs, and a highchair for those who require it. You will find the shower room with downstairs toilet leading off this room. Up the gentle staircase the large family bedroom, with its double and two single beds, is just right for a family where the children prefer to share a room. The double bedroom is great for those who want more privacy or just a cosier room. Both rooms have wardrobes and chests of drawers so that guests can feel at home during their stay. There is a toilet with a sink on this floor, too. The comfortable lounge has two settees and a large armchair providing plenty of seating for everyone, with a coffee table, a TV, a DVD player and a selection of family films. Books and board games are available during normal (non-pandemic) stays.

Everything was great. We wanted for nothing.
The are was amazing. Full of 18th century history including the cottage.
We walked to the Mills, along the canals. Infact we walked everywhere

Cottage really nice and homely only thing we think is kitchen and dining room could do with a bit off a decorating and for dark nights a bulk head outside light to light court yard up apart from that a beautiful cottage to stay

Just what we wanted

Lots of history and room to move inside. No secure garden for pets. Main Cromford road is noisy and busy. Lots of interesting buildings and walks. We managed to get lost twice! All part of the fun and challenge.

Booked last minute. Really nice place. Beds are lovely. Great location. Parking was ok, but limited so not sure what we’d do if unavailable. Will book again.

Cromford is something of a road hub, so expect lots of traffic on the main roads. Parking is ok but tricky in the centre. The village has a number of little shops and restaurants, with the Greyhound a stand out for eating. The cottage is period, with the expected quirkiness of layout. The kitchen needs updating although is adequately equipped and fine for a short stay. The shower enclosure needs replacing with proper safety glass. The living room is a good size and comfortable. The dining room is fine for up to six people. I’d avoid the cottage in cold weather as it’s likely to be a bit chilly. The cottage is well located for walks along the lovely Cromford canal and exploring the historical mills and industrial heritage. Overall, this is a place I’d recommend for a good value short stay although it’s a bit short of the luxury and comforts of many other Vrbo properties.

This is a lovely cottage, decorated really well and has everything you could need. Village busy at weekends and cottage is handy for the shop which is well stocked and 3 pubs handy.
We hoped it would rain so that we could see the Bear Pit with a lot of water in it but it stayed fine.
Only disadvantage was having to go downstairs for a shower but apart from that it is fine.

We loved this property. It was the perfect size for 5 of us (3 teenagers!) and in a great area. There are loads of walks locally and so much to do within short drives. The cottage was super warm and comfortable and the hosts very responsive to all enquiries.

What a lovely cottage with almost everything you would need to make your stay comfortable. I would highly recommend this place for small groups or families. Just a stones throw away from the highstreet and the convenience store on the corner it was a perfect place for us but not much noise from the road, which was great. There is a lovely little play area for the kids just around the corner and a few lovely crafty shops, cafes and eateries.

We stayed here for Christmas weekend and had a lovely time.
The cottage is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, we even made a full Christmas dinner.
The cottage is in a lovely location, a few minutes walk to the mill, 3 local pubs a lovely little hide away cafe straight opposite the cottage, only 10 minutes walk to matlock bath.
The cottage was lovely and clean and very warm for a old building.
We loved our Christmas/ welcome presents as well, what a lovely thing to do.
Thank you for a fabulous stay

Check in process very straight forward. If you're looking for character this cottage has it. The shower lacked pressure but we managed fine. The lounge was upstairs and extremely cozy. I think the owners have tried to think of everything but have also kept it traditional and in keeping with the age of the property.
It's location is good giving option of being in walking distance to Cromford Canal, Black Rocks and Matlock Bath.
We visited the Boat Inn and ate at The Greyhound that served excellent food, although a tad expensive. A nice selection of beers and wine.
Would certainly return to the area and property.

This is a very nice cosy cottage in the heart of Cromford. It had everything we needed for a short stay. The bedrooms are good-sized and the kitchen is well equipped. The only two comments I can make are that tall people (over 6ft 1in) will be challenged by some of the doors and the shower and the wifi is a bit spotty away from the living room. Otherwise, I can wholeheartedly recommend this as a good base for exploring the Peak District.

A charming cottage with interesting history which was a good size for a family of 4. Kitchen well equipped and comfortable sitting room, breakfast/dining room and bedrooms. Double bed is small after being used to a king sized, but we knew beforehand of the bed arrangements and it did not spoil our stay in this lovely cottage. Lovely walks from the cottage and plenty to do, we would highly recommend. Thank you for welcome pack which was gratefully received after long car journey.

The cottage was beautiful and in a great location. Warning, the doorways are low and the downstairs bathroom unusable if you are over 6 foot.
The interior is comfortable enough, not too fancy but was a great starting point for our explorations.

Lovely traditional comfortable cottage
Very welcoming cottage, comfortable beds, plenty space. Only thing that wasn’t great was the parking as was very busy and quite difficult to find a space around the narrow streets. Really enjoyed our stay in a lovely cottage and beautiful location thankyou!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Tinsmiths cottage ... lovely location ....a great base for exploring the Peak district.

Lovely historic cottage
The cottage was quaint and quirky. Very comfortable and ideal for our needs. The only down side was the traffic on the main road was very noisy with lorries thundering down it, mainly at rush hour times. Cromford is steeped in history and the walks from the property were wonderful. So easy to pop into The Boat Inn for lunch which was excellent and the convenience of Arkwright store was great. On the whole a wonderful holiday home.

Lovely old stone cottage
We really enjoyed our stay. A really interesting historical location and lots of places to visit nearby.

Not for anyone who has mobility issues. I
Cromford is a great place to stay. However, on arrival, we had to go to the shops for kitchen roll, toilet paper and antibacterial spray (not a problem, but we expect these things to be in the house.) We then discovered a pair of dirty knickers and sweet wrappers under one of the single beds. This led us to believe that the house had not been cleaned to a good standard. Other than that, the accommodation was good.

Everything seems to have been thought of, and lots of nice little touches. Location unexpectedly steeped in history.

Cosy Cottage
A quirky cottage in a great area.
Good directions as it is tucked away round the back. Easy check in and the cottage is spotless. Needs some updating but everything you need is provided and the beds are very comfortable. A great place for access to local walks and other places of historical interest to visit.

Good place
The cottage is in a great location, just off the Cromford main road and within 2 mins of everything you need. The facilities were ample with plenty of space for a small group. Good connections for visiting other local towns and sites. We had a great time!

Cute little cottage.
Cute fully equipt little cottage in a good location. Good walking base. Parking is a bit tight by we managed. Only minor thing is the windows, very few of them open and so it was rather stuffy especially the living room and double bedroom. Overall, a great holiday home.

Long Weekend in the Peaks
Quaint cottage in historical area. Tinsmith's. Very relaxing, a bit quirky but ideal for access to local sites.
Clean, well maintained, comfortable. Cromford, a must is breakfast at Parky's.
Instructions for unloading your car should be updated to use the lane behind the cottage. Access is then only 20 metres, very convenient.
Overall a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Thank you.
