Wonderful location, beautiful gardens and fascinating history. Staff were friendly and the breakfast choice was great. Very comfortable beds and excellent facilities.
4.0
Staff make the place great very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast tasty and lovely buffet selection.
The facilities are amazing, being able to swim and smack gold balls on the driving range, ample space to walk and explore the grounds.
It would be great if the rooms had air conditioning, besides that there is nothing else to complain about.
4.0
A stunning location, with excellent facilities and charming staff
Our bedroom had no soap, shampoo or conditioner in the shower containers which was annoying since we were there for just one night so didn’t get the chance to call housekeeping to fix. Minor

I like everything about my stay, from the message after making the reservation asking me for whatever special need I have to the hotel helping me get a rose bouquet for my girlfriend {who became my fiancee during the stay ;) } on her birthday. She was given a bottle of wine and a customised birthday card. The receptionist was kind enough to give us late checkout on our departure date. It was an excellent stay, and I will be coming again.
Nothing. I love everything about my stay.
3.5
Beautiful location. Historic building. Friendly and helpful staff.
Room was a bit dated and small. The bathroom was particularly small to the point I couldn’t stand up fully in the shower.
5.0
The rooms were great, very clean and spacious. The hotel staff were incredible, especially Emma on reception who really did go above and beyond for our group. She is an asset to your team!
Nothing.

Absolutely stunning and plenty to do
Nothing I have no complaints

The room, location, and views were amazing. The grounds were well looked after. It's a very old house; the floorboards in the room were very creaky, and the bathroom was quite dated. We had room service, and the food was amazing. The receptionist who checked us in was very rude.
The receptionist who checked us in was super rude, but the other ladies were all smiles. I guess we just got unlucky.
4.5
Breakfast was lovely
Swimming pool was great
Grounds are lovely
Room was a big size
Reception staff friendly and helpful
Unfortunately our room was next to a group who were up late drinking they were laughing and talking really loud when they got to the room around 1am woke us up they continued for a good half hour so wasn’t great
4.5
Clean, quiet and comfortable
Difficult to find your way around inside. Lack of facilities for residents, everything golf orientated. Good food, slow service
1.5
Gorgeous grounds
Hard bed. Cold room. No tea spoon! Disjointed. Complicated layout. Unpleasant smelling chemical Air freshener in bathroom. First room we were given had black mould on the window. But by far the worst part is the bed and pillows. And very thin bedding for a cold room. I expect if you are a golfer these things are less important than a well maintained course.
4.5
The staff were super helpful and could have not done more to ensure my stay was nothing but to the highest standard.
4.0
The history of the property and the setting.
Food was excellent!
Ok the whole the stay was very good and I would stop again however at dinner I had to request for water a further 3 times after originally being asked if I wanted some ( said yes) but then it never came until mid way through the main course ( I had a starter). I also had to ask for mayonnaise for the main twice.
When asked if they were understaffed the answer was no just that a lot of people turned up who hadn’t booked so they weren’t expecting them. We could see the waitress moving quickly to help others who also clearly had issues with drinks orders. The food was excellent and arrived in good time. The issue with drinks however did drop the score down.
3.5
Location is nice and quiet , well maintained landscape and hotel. Breakfast had a great choice of items and staff friendly and efficient
We had a problem with music , my partner had to go down to reception at 1am as we couldn't get to sleep for it . Turns out it was in reception. Luke turned it down for us so was all quiet then
4.5
Great location, fabulous food.
Long walk from room to main hotel. Family rooms at far side of hotel complex.

Overall place was great, and I'm not easily impressed. Staff were great, breakfast in the restaurant was of a high quality. The room was tidy and clean. The spa was good, as was the golf driving range. The building and grounds were maintained to a high standard.
If I was being picky I'd say the "opt out" service fee in the restaurant was sneaky and added £12.50 to the bill. I saw this after tipping the waitress £10 so I opted out!
The spa roof needs a bit of a refresh but nothing bad

The restaurant food was simply ok .

The first day the room was cold upon arrival, the heating was switched off.
The second day it appeared no housekeeping done for the room, it was not cleaned. The heating still being g switched off. Managed to get it working but the heating was not responding to the set temperature. So the room turned too warm.
When checking out, the junior staff at the reception desk mentioned to would pass it on to the manager. But no response received.
All in all quite disappointing, not the service and room quality I was expecting, certainly not for a Marriot brand hotel.
2.5
The property was lovely and the room was clean but the tv cabinet had no back in it presumably because there used to be a fridge in there
Lack of tea and coffee 2 tea bags to last two days ridiculous !! In addition only 4 small pots of milk again to last two days just not acceptable for the price charged.
In addition the room was not cleaned during our stay and I had to ask for extra towels apparently one hand towel and one bath towel each to last the entire stay is normal … outrageous
They will have to lower the prices or up the way they treat a staying guest.
The staff were helpful but they shouldn’t have to keep being asked for things that should be provided as a given.
In addition I have sent two emails asking for an item of property to be returned to me it’s now four weeks since our stay and I have not one reply or response from the hotel !!

The property was lovely! It’s an old building and they are doing very well at bringing it to the modern world.

Comfy beds. Spotless room. Excellent and friendly staff.
Restaurant was too expensive.

We had a very comfortable, freshly painted room overlooking the grounds. The extractor fan in the bathroom did not work, which may need to be fixed.
We made use of the Club bar which had a great atmosphere, enjoyed a spot of lunch and then went onto the Spa for a swim.
We felt it was a little hot in the Spa area, however it was very pleasant and clean. A kind cleaner in the ladies changing room assisted me with how to use the locker!
We also enjoyed a walk through the nature trail.
Breakfast was very satisfying too!
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again.
As mentioned above, the extractor fan needed fixing within the bathroom, room 353.
We paid £169 for the room b&b, would be nice if we came again to find a bit more of a discount.
3.5
Location, staff and facilities. Great breakfast!
Room was very tired, couldn’t see through the window properly as it had blown. Renovation work being done above our room which started at 7.00am with the sound of scraping etc. noise in the corridor after ‘quiet time’
4.5
Very pleasant dining room staff at both dinner and breakfast.
The pool/spa area is a little ‘tired’.

All the staff were excellent, very helpful. Food very tasty. Lovely pint of ale.
The noise from the builders upstairs in the morning.
4.0
The venue and the room we were given for our birthday dinner
Waiting for breakfast and some of the bits of the breakfast were very slow in coming out.
1.5
Location
Noisy guests in corridors
Poor breakfast, all hot food cold and not replenished quickly enough
4.0
Spot on
Bigger sauna, bigger bath, more sun loungers.
2.5
The swimming pool and the grounds were its best features
Thé restaurant.
It was highly over priced and the food was overrated and we had to wait to long for our food. We had been waiting for about 40 minutes when we finally asked and it came out about 5 minutes afterward. £35 for a steak with no sides is disgusting and it was tough.
