Buxton's beauty is a popular choice for weddings, the house is in walking distance of the Palace Hotel, Old Hall Hotel, Crescent Hotel, Devonshire Dome and Pavilion Gardens, all popular reception venues. We have had brides leave from our door for their big day, families delighted to have a venue where they can relax informally together without the constraints of a hotel.
As a resident since childhood I am an enthusiast of my beautiful town, the specialist shops within the Cavendish arcade the former spa bathing area, the extensive choice of places to sample the local gastronomic delights, the wonderful Opera house and the stunning Pooles cavern which is rated as England's finest show cavern are just a few of the highlights. The beautifully kept 23 acre Pavilion gardens is a wonderful place for all ages to enjoy a fun filled time.

This is an excellent property. The house is outstanding and complemented by an excellent location in easy walking distance of Buxton Town Centre. This was a special holiday for us celebrating, a golden wedding and a 70th birthday during the year. A rare chance to get most of the family together to mark this special year spanning three generations from 74yrs to 5 months it was perfect. Thank you Susan.

What a lovely property - it did exactly what it said on the tin! There was loads of room for everyone to be together or doing different things - the games room and conservatory were particular favourites. The house was spotless and extremely well equipped - the kitchen had absolutely everything that we needed. The host was really friendly and helpful and on hand if we had any problems. It was definitely the right place for a multi age multi family break - thank you.

The property was very spacious with plenty of room down and upstairs. The location was ideal for exploring the surrounding area. The garden area was nice. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything that was needed and the dining room was large enough to seat us all together, which was great.

We stayed in the house for a week with 6 kids aged 10 months to 12 years. The house itself was amazing with loads of space and activities for the whole family.
The house is situated in a perfect location, close enough to walk into the town centre to take advantage of local parks, shops and bars/restaurants as well as being in the heart of the Peak District.
For large families looking for a great place to get away together, I would strongly recommend this house.

I visited with a group of girlfriends for my sisters birthday. We had everything we needed for cooking big meals and staying so warm and cosy during our winter stay!
We found a path up into the Peaks right behind the house and it’s a short walk into town for visiting the cute pubs!
Susan was very responsive and helpful throughout!

Overall, very good and we had a very pleasant stay. The house is well equipped and furnished. Parking wasn't a problem. It's an easy walk into Buxton centre.

Well equipped house within walking distance (steep walk back) of Buxton. Garden was a bit smaller than anticpated and garden furniture could do with a lick of paint.. House was well equipped especially the kitchen, could do with another bathroom but that can't be helped!
All in all we had a great time! Some rather strict rules and were surprised to have to strip all beds and empty bedroom bins on checking out as we would have thought that was the cleaner's job but it did not affect our enjoyment of catching up with family.

We had a fantastic time in Buxton at Susan’s place. We used all of the bedrooms, which are comfortable and spacious, the living areas and kitchen are huge, so we had lots of space to hang out and socialise. Having three/four bathrooms also helped! The kitchen is extremely well equipped for a group visit too. Buxton is a gorgeous town and only a ten minute walk away, as is the train station. I’d highly recommend Susan’s place to anyone wanting to organise a gathering for friends and/or family!

The house was lovely and was well equipped. It was quite a difficult climb to the house for me with C. O. P. D and I think this should be mentioned in the description

Family fun times in Buxton
We enjoyed a fabulous week in Buxton staying at Wellwood Lodge. The house was perfectly located to access all that the Peak District has to offer and was very well equipped and super comfortable for those days where we were less active and just wanted to chill.

Perfect for group gatherings.
10 of our family stayed at the property, ranging from ages 16 to 80. It was a great place to base ourselves to catch up and explore a beautiful part of the country. Buxton itself is lovely and the centre is only a 10 minute walk away if you take the short cut through the cul de sac. The house was well equipped and presented. The welcome basket was much appreciated.
We had a fantastic stay despite the appalling weather.

A perfect setting for a large family gathering
Our family of 14 gathered for an 80th birthday celebration at Wellwood Lodge. The property was perfect for all our needs with ages ranging from 13 to 83. Wellwood Lodge is a great location for both walking into Buxton and walking into the peaks. Less than 30min drive to Chatsworth House. We also walked to Solomon's Temple with 360 degree views across Buxton. All rooms are spacious, comfortable and the kitchen and dining room are extremely well stocked enabling home-from-home cooking and dining. Games room was great fun and the conservatory and garage terrace was nice for breakfast. All in all a very relaxing stay at Wellwood Lodge for everyone. Thank-you Susan for your hospitality. We will certainly recommend Wellwood Lodge for friends planning on visiting the Peak District.

Holiday in Buxton with 12 German ladies
The accomodation and reception were optimal. I, as the only male in the party and a Debyshire lad, wished to show a German gymnastics group (age 55-75), my old home in the Peak District. The weather was optimal and they really had a great weekend (May 10thg - May 14th 2019). Everyone enjoyed the beautiful Victorian house wuth its modern facilities and as a group of 13, there was enough room for all. Bedrooms, showers, kitchen etc. optimal. Thank you Susan!

Lovely large house for a 50th birthday celebration
We had a weekend break at Wellwood Lodge to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. We comprised of 3 families totalling 13 people with the youngest being 8 years old and the oldest 55. Without a shadow of doubt all of us agreed its been one of the nicest places we've stayed.
We were welcomed with freshly baked bread and Susan, the owner, popped round to say hello and give us a few tips. The kids loved the games room. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked and the bedrooms very comfortable. We thought the square dinning table was great, encouraging us all to converse. The living room was large but cosy with plenty of seating for all of us. It was warm even though it was a very cold weekend and my son ruefully commented that it was warmer than our own home on our return!
All in all, a wonderful way to celebrate my wife's 50th

Wonderful property - highly recommended
We had a fabulous stay in this beautiful house. Very spacious, gorgeous comfortable beds, and everything we could need for a wonderful celebration. Kitchen really well equipped, dining table perfect for large parties, and lounge and conservatory wonderful as well.
We had 2 great meals out as well, in Rumours for lunch and then St. Moritz for dinner.
Great walking either into town if you turn right, or over the hills if you turn left out of the property.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house and Susan was wonderful throughout, from first enquiry to post-departure. We will definitely return.

The house was spotless with plenty of room. The owner had thought of everything we may need to have a great break.
We arrived to a warm house with the smell of bread cooking.
The beds were very comfortable. It was great to all sit round a large square dinning table.
The weather wasn't that good to us but the cellar games room, gave us a lot of fun while we waited for the rain to stop.
It was a short walk into Buxton.(10minutes) We managed a walk to Solomon's temple and a short walk behind the house.
We all ate at St Moritz - An Italian restaurant in the town (very good and efficient service)
We saw a show at the lovely ornate Opera House .
The owner was very helpful , responding to email mails quickly with useful information on walks and restaurants to eat at.
Lovely long weekend even though it rained
