The situation of the hotel is perfect!
The only thing that we could comment on here was that we had a broken window in our room. It had obviously been made safe but it was a shame.
3.5
Bed was really comfortable location was good
The shower made need some TLC not enough power from the shower head

Location is central to everything, the rooms were lovely and clean, the bathroom was spotless, bed was very comfy, shower was lovely and hot !
Outside doesn’t do the inside any justice at all, when I pulled up outside I honestly wasn’t going to stay but checked the room before making my decision to stay or leave, the place needs a massive revamp

I was a bit nervous because the walkways and stairs were very grubby looking. Check in took a while but they were busy with food orders. However the room was very clean with hotel cotton sheets, towels for each person and a mini shower gel & shampoo. Tea tray & biscuits more than adequate. We asked for a top up of loo roll & we got new tea cups & tea bags as well as straightening up the beds. Very spacious with a table & 4 chairs & quite a bit of storage for clothes. £50 dog deposit on arrival which actually made me appreciate that they cared about the state of the rooms. They just do a quick check before you leave & then you get your money back. Breakfast was nice, a bargain and lovely to be able to order what you wanted instead of a standard stuffy b&b. Everything was cooked well. WiFi is free to use. Door key for outside from 10pm provided. Location in town is excellent. Parking isn't available but the church over the road always seemed to have spots. If you park your car there it's very unlikely you'd need to move it. So many places to go!
The layout of our room could've been better because there were no bedside tables and the wardrobe was against the bed and I kept touching it in the night. If I'm being super picky the main light had to be switched off near the door.
The room was up 5 sets of stairs, it can't be helped. A lack of plugs or phone holding locations for charging.

Good size room & good location
In need of a big refurb! Very dated. Safety of windows?! 🙁 They need safety catches. Windows falling apart!

Food was amazing
All the stairs lol

Nice cosy rooms, super friendly staff. Dog friendly
The amount of stairs. However for someone with a gammy knee. The stairs are surprisingly easy to navigate. Being deep but short steps. Make getting up and down, luggage and dog in tow now too bad.

It doesn’t look much from the outside or just in reception so I was a bit apprehensive but I believe they are revamping this area.
However when I opened the door to my room I was really pleased. It was immaculate. Very well presented and nothing to moan about. The staff were friendly and happy to greet you with a smile. The location is super convenient also. I didn’t opt for breakfast.
My room was very quiet except for the couple next door having intercourse. However this only lasted five minutes. Lucky for me but not for her. Obviously this is not the hotels fault and I would have no hesitation in staying here again.
The lack of a lift didn’t bother me at all and to be fair the website clearly states there isn’t one.
Thank you to all at the New Alexandra.
The reception area is being revamped so currently it’s a little off putting.

Lovely hospitality and so polite nice breakfast beds are comfy
Tbh not alot maybe just a upgrade to a TV with netflix built in other than that it was a decent place to stop

Nice room, spacious and really tidy with thoughtful touches and everything you could need to hand. Shower was also nice and hot, good pressure. Bed really comfortable. Really close to the train station and decent local pubs. Staff were very friendly on check in.
Nothing at all, it is a cool place and would definitely stay again.

The only thing this property has that’s good is the location.
It was run down. The bedroom was filthy to the point we didn’t even stay we left. There was stains on the chairs up the walls down the bed.
2.5
A really comfortable bed - I slept well. Very good location. Pat, the receptionist/bartender had to contend with a lot of problems including room keys that weren't right, and having to run up and down stairs, managed to work through the problems managed to maintain a polite demeanour.
The place is in need of some TLC. The shower temperature fluctuated from cold to scolding. Lots of stairs to contend with after a knee replacement operation.
3.5
It's pretty basic but clean, friendly and very cheap for the middle of town

Location was good, plesent staff. Good pint in the bar.
Rundown and dated, lots of stairs. No lift. Soft matress.
If you have any mobility issues I suggest a different hotel.
Hotel smelt of Old chip fat fryer grease.

Room comfortable
Had to go upstairs 2 flights to reach room with my suitcase. There was also a problem with hot water on the 2nd morning when I had to leave by Sunday 10 am. The manager was NOT available for me to complasin about that. I've kept my breakfast receipt for £11 in case I reclaim from them.

Sam the owner was genuinely interested in getting to know you. He has built up and redone the Alex since 2018. You will get to meet Kath who is happy go lucky and very friendly.Little things impressed me. Ironing board and iron on every floor. Fan in room. Heater in room. Really friendly staff. Double bed comfy. Nice hot shower. Highly recommend it. I'm going back in December for great walks and good conversation.Sam the owner is a 🌳 mendous cook as well with very fair prices. 👌
A complainer might find something but I loved it.

Great location very near amenities close to sea front
Been on top floor was difficult due to disability
3.5
The room was small, but as advertised.
It was warm but the windows opened fully to allow ventilation.
The shower worked fine.
The bed was very comfortable.
Good wi-fi
Despite being below a pub the room was surprisingly very quiet.
The only issue was the door lock to the room was a nightmare to use.
It took several random twists and turns to get it to lock.

Where it was situated in town close to everything
The bed was a very small suppose double bed nearly fell out of it pillows hard shower well if I was alone I couldn’t have turned it on very hard to turn on and off my husband struggled drain pipe was dripping all night my husband said it’s blocked up and carpet wasn’t very clean .
1.5
Not a lot really but location really good, staff nice & helpful, room was clean & tidy.
No wardrobe or second bedside cabinet in the room as too small to accommodate! No towel rail or hangers for towels in the bathroom! Bar OK but very sport orientated & piped outside also (not good). Disappointed that the bar was not open until 11pm it closed at 10pm & 9pm on Sunday. Room 1 (where we were)should be listed as a single room- outlook dire, window cracked with tape holding together. So all in all we will not be staying here again. We were also informed in the blurb that we could park in Trinity Square with no time restrictions & to cap it all we had a parking fine.
