We loved staying here and would have loved to stay longer. The view of the Pacific is stunning, and the house is incredibly unique with its design and indoor/open air layout. The wildlife is amazing with the house being located in the middle of the jungle; we saw cool lizards and a dozen or more monkeys! Highly recommend!

This was a wonderful property—great views and very peaceful. We were thankful for the earlier reviews the recommended a 4-wheel-drive vehicle. That was a lifesaver.
We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Dominical.

Amazing home nestled atop a mountain. Beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean from all rooms! Definitely want a 4 wheel drive vehicle to make it up the steep drive but it's worth it. Close to restaurants in dominical and many attractions are within a 30 min - 45 min drive from the home.

Located in Paradise Breezes-deceiving becasue it's not managed by them.
Visual and sensorial wonderland-its beautiful because its in a lush hillside, buy lots of construction going on. Also adds another entrance/exit road which is not gated, anyone can go in and out.
Laser security and motion detector system- NON EXISTING on house.
Mosquito misting system- Present but non functional. We dealt with major swarms of bugs.
Indoor kitchen- toaster did not work, filter water in fridge did not work, faucet water only.
Outdoor kitchen seating- could not sit at due to large swarm of bugs. Bought bug spray to spray daily the seating table area and bathroom vanity cabinet with large nest from the swarming bugs.
Local service mobile phone- NON EXISTENCE
Easy communication with your concierge- had to contact from our personal phone, she would take hours if not days to respond, and even then gave no resolution to our problems.
Shared bathroom between guest rooms- preclogged from previous people. Again, Paradise Breezes does NOT service this home, had to wait for guys from a not so close location to arrive to fix.
House entry gate- lockable with key, but you can walk around the sides of the house to get to any part of the house which makes the gate pointless. In fact, our concierge did exactly that to let us in.
Multiple wall minisplits-concierge told us to keep resetting the breakers back on because the local power trips them off. Condensors completely clogged, I had to clean

The place was gorgeous, clean, with amazing views. The only problem is that it’s on a hill and requires a 4x4 and that was never communicated to us. After we reached the place, the host tells us there is no way we can drive our van to the house. Being a Holy Week there, there were no other options available including rental cars (which we were willing to pay out of pocket). We were given an option to use a taxi service with $30 one way for a 3 min ride each way every day (paid for by us). And then on the last day the taxi guy never showed up despite several messages from us. We almost missed our tour because of that. No accountability or apologies from the property manager. We ended up forking few hundred dollars more because of the lack of communication.

Our recent stay at this property was enjoyable, offering a unique blend of indoor and outdoor living spaces. The house, while intriguing, may require some adjustment due to its unconventional layout. Notably, the front door provides security, but the accessibility of the stairs from the side of the house adds an interesting dynamic. The interior features a living room and kitchen enclosed within the same area, boasting floor-to-ceiling windows and sliders that afford stunning views of the pool and ocean. The amenities provided were great, ensuring a comfortable stay. However, it's worth noting that the design may not suit everyone's preferences.Ascending the staircase from the living room leads to spacious bedrooms connected by a hall/catwalk. While this layout offers privacy, the shared bathroom between two spare bedrooms may inconvenience some guests, as it requires accessing it from the main hall.
Situated in a secure neighborhood atop a hill, the property offers a sense of safety and tranquility. However, the indoor/outdoor living experience exposes guests to a variety of bugs and lizards, which may not appeal to everyone, but part of the CR experience. Throughout our stay, Josue and Amanda, the property hosts and concierge, provided attentive service, enhancing our overall experience. Their professionalism and hospitality were great!

Pictures do not do the view justice. Tucked in up on the mountain but quick easy drives to the surrounding towns. Definitely need a 4x4 to get up driveway. Toucans and parrots every morning. Lizards hanging by the pool. Absolutely stunning view at sunset. Never had issues with mosquitoes or no see ums at dark. We stayed with 4 kids ages 2-11 and the pool was perfect for them! Would highly recommend.

The communication could use a lot of improvement. We could not get directions until we were already on our way to the house. When we got there the gentleman helping us was very nice. The house looked great and there was even a welcome package, which was thoughtful.
There were a few issues. The laundry was broken. It wasn’t convenient to have the people supervising the house do it because the communication was not great. The things we had washed didn’t smell very clean and the clothes and towels returned were still damp. We had to hand wash a lot of our clothes. There were not many towels available so that was frustrating being as the washer didn’t work.
Another issue was trash. We like to cook and when the trash got full we asked if it could get picked up, but no one came so we ended up having to put trash bags in the laundry room.
There was a large- very large- flying insect nest that was under the sink in the bathroom that was downstairs. It ended up hatching two days before we left and we were then unable to use the downstairs bathroom. This is something someone should have noticed when they cleaned.
There were two separate nights (two different renters) of really loud renters next door that went into really late hours. This is something maybe the owner should address with the owner next door in the future to make it nicer for people renting this property. They did reach out to the owner the first time and the second time we just yelled over the next rental group.

The house was as it looked in the photos and we had a great stay! There were a couple of little things that came up we had a quick response and the items were quickly taken care of. The views are breathtaking and we enjoyed the flora and fauna. Within an easy drive to so many beaches and activities, waterfalls, ziplining, nature trails and Manuel Antonio Park. This is our second time staying in this gated community and I would highly recommend it.

Incredible! We have visited Dominical 3 times and this was by far the best place we've ever stayed. First and foremost, the pool is WARM! This is the only time we've encountered a pool that you can stay in all day long and the view of the ocean is impossible to beat.
The home is clean and modern. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook and the BBQ outside is also a great option. There is ample room for eating and lounging both inside and out. I am very fair-skinned and the outdoor eating area provided enough shade for me to hideout during peak sun hours.
The beds and pillows are comfortable and have nice linens. The showers could use a little TLC, but I'm pretty picky and they didn't bother me at all. Each bedroom and the living room have AC units that are very effective. (Be sure to find the "light" button on the remote to turn off the blinding readout on the unit so you can sleep).
The house is up a steep road - definitely need 4x4. It is just north of town by about 10 minutes, close to anything you'll want to do in the area.
In Dominical/Uvita you are likely to hear noise from the main road no matter how high up you are. You may hear some, but it is very minimal. There is a rental property right next door that you cannot physically see though you will hear them if they're loud, or vise versa.
Josue is incredibly professional and responsive!
We will stay here again!!

We had a great time in Dominical! The property was well taken cared, and the views were amazing.

Owned by property manager unclear in listing. Concierge is local who is amazing and very good response time. Was provided gate key that didn’t work, ice machine didn’t work, pool timer goes off often and gets very dirty. One of the pool seats was broken and torn. Speaker didn’t work, water machine on fridge didn’t work, missing knobs on faucet. Beautiful property but a lot wrong with it and no contact with owner at all. Would find a new property with similar views with better working facilities.

Would stay here again.
Beautiful, well used house in a gorgeous location for an off the beaten path type family. Ownership recently changed with a new property manager who took personal interest in our enjoyment.
It’s not perfect and hopefully the new situation will include a refresh of some of the ‘touchables’ inside. Housekeeping overlooked sheet stains before checkin requiring a bedding change by us, for instance, and the bath towel racks need remounted. A day or two of house TLC would make for a 5 star experience.
The kitchen was pretty well stocked and we loved having the excellent chef service on arrival night after a long travel day. I wouldn’t recommend the grocery stocking offer as they tacked on a service charge & taxi fee for a handful of items, eventually subtracted upon questioning.
We loved the pool and the unending Costa Rica flora & fauna. That’s what we came for and it didn’t disappoint.

180 degree oceab views, pool and wildlife
This is definitely for people who want to experience Costa Rica and the wildlife up close. We arrived and there was a sloth (that my kids named Jenny) in a tree five feet from the stairs. The kitchen and family room are in one closed area of the house and the bedrooms and bathrooms are also enclosed. Everything else is open to the Costa Rica experience. The kitchen was well appointed and we enjoyed the grill. The pool was nice and occupied by Basalisk lizards in the morning. The kids enjoyed seeing them run across the water. The house is concrete so can get a tad slippery on the stairs. Also given it's proximity to the jungle and openness, expect to see many of the insects of Costa Rica. I assume the house was treated as many were dead but you need to be prepared to see some cool insects....and wear shoes. The house is on septic and presumably some sort if well. We ran out of water when we tried filling the pool....so don't do that and you are great. They did have pool guys come regularly and the housekeeper came every Wednesday. Finally, no garbage disposal in the sink. Other than that everything was ad advertised and the house was well appointed.

We would not stay here again.
A few things to know before you book:
1. This is not a gated community. We stayed for 7 days and the property manager told us a secondary route to get to and from the property without having to use the gates. We never went through the security gates.
2. Housecleaning is not every other day. They came just once in a 7 day stay.
3. The home is in a rainforest. While we expected various native creatures, we did not expect coachroaches in the kitchen and bedrooms. Even after having the property fumigated, we still woke up to hissing cockroaches.
4. Every bedroom opens to the outside, so not a location with those who have small children as you have to lock each bedroom nightly (see #1).
5. There is a fair amount of deferred maintenance that should be completed- photos of the property don’t depict the actual condition (fan and light above oven don’t work, shower drains need cleaned - 2nd bathroom shower has been leaking for some time given ceiling stains in the living room - the shower leaks were leaking into light fixtures so we never used that shower again due to electrocution concerns, stains on every couch cushion, mosquito misting system not in operation, current railing on stairs and balcony don’t meet current safety standards - especially if you have younger children).
5. We never received a house phone for emergencies. We downloaded the what’s app but it took 12-24 hours for the property manager to get back to us. The first aid kit provided no longer has any supplies - it was just rubber gloves - no band aids or bandages.
6. We had reserved a car through the property manager with an all in price with the slogan no hidden fees, and when we checked in, we ended up with an Avis car and the demand for an extra $2,000 a rental fee deposit, which we had to pay otherwise we were told there were no other cars available.
7. A photo id sheet of dangerous native creatures would be helpful. We were on an excursion and our guide pointed out a poisonous frog. We had a visit from that same type of frog on the patio that evening. As a parent with kids who like to catch frogs, we were lucky to have had the frog pointed out to us earlier in the day. If we hadn’t been on that excursion we wouldn’t have had a clue that this colorful frog was so dangerous.

Need some renovations
We stayed at Casa Azur villa from May 22nd to 27th, this villa by far is not what showed on the pictures definitely needs some adjustments, first thing we noticed that the pool literally looked like it was abandoned the water was very cloudy and it had a lot of leaves and bugs in it, so we tried to contact the manager to see if they are willing to do something and at first they said just take the pool skimmer that is over-there and try to clean it yourself which wasn’t a big deal for us so we took the pool skimmer and found out that net was damaged and it was useless, but anyways trash wasn’t the main problem it was the pool itself that had to be fully drained clean up very good and new water put in, so basically we did not use their pool because water didn’t look safe for our health to be in it. All the concrete next to the pool needs some attention too, and pool chairs also. Next thing we noticed it was sofa in the living room that had plenty of stains and spots, it needs a very good clean up and don’t really understand why it hasn’t been done yet. Next is in one of the bathrooms upstairs lights over the mirror are very rusted out and hanging unevenly, and both bathrooms shower doors had to be cleaned up also they were very very foggy, and a lot of road noise coming from the highway 34 that is below the villa especially early mornings when you in the bedroom it can be heard a lot. So I would rate this villa 3 out of 5 because of these issues I addressed other than that we enjoyed out stay since Costa Rica is a great country and there is a lot to see.
Pura Vida !!!

Property is very nice
The views are incredible. The local area is alot of fun. We had trouble getting a hold of the property manager when the gates would not open, and the cooking class was more of a cooking demonstration. Having the chef cook at the house was very cool otherwise. The couples massage was excellent. It was a very memorable trip and I would stay again.

From beginning to end, I have to give a special recognition to Nancy for assisting with Birthday planning from the moment my group and I arrived. I would recommend round trip transportation if you are not comfortable with driving on mountains. Overall, the stay and experience in CR was blissful and am grateful we were surrounded by nothing but angelic people.
Thank you !

Wonderful family vacation
My family [2 grandparents, 2 parents, 8- and 5-year old] had an amazing vacation at Casa Azur. The views from the house are stunning, and we loved waking up to the sounds of the rainforest each morning. Our concierge, Amanda, was an excellent resource and made our stay so enjoyable.
Highlights of the trip were: seeing toucans and monkeys at the house; taking surfing lessons in Dominical; ziplining outside of Quepos; chefs dinners at the house; and visiting Manual Antonio and Marino Balleno National Parks. The surrounding areas were beautiful and provided plenty for both adventurers and beach-goers.
As many have mentioned, the drive up the house is treacherous, and you really need a 4x4 vehicle and someone to show you the way the first time [especially in the dark] - the shuttle service from the airport to the house was great for that.
We highly recommend staying at Casa Azur. Thank you Greg for providing such an amazing house.

Incredible Views (Ocean and Jungle), Unique Home, 'almost' perfect
We our flight to San Jose arrived much later than expected and we experienced a tire blowout on the drive down (meaning we weren't able to do a proper check-in). There was a major rainstorm prior to arrival that knocked out power to the property. The road, even when dry, requires a 4x4 and when wet is even more challenging. So arriving late, wet, and in darkness isnt an ideal start. In addition, when the rain comes down it drops leaves, insects, and random jungle debris everywhere. Just know that this property is in a jungle environment so it won't always be perfectly clean. That said, the views are incredible, the home is perfect for a family or 2 couples, and it is close to many great locations.

Excellent stay in Dominical
We had an amazing adventure in Costa Rica! The property was beautiful, the location was great, and the concierge staff was outstanding. They helped us book a private chef dinner, ATV tour waterfall tour, Ziplining, Catamaran trip, and guided tour of Manuel Antonio park. They were easily available to help with any question! Thank you for sharing such a magical place with us!

Stunning adventure
Fabulous rental with excellent communication. As advertised if not better. Stunningly designed perched in the edge of the jungle above the ocean…it goes for miles. Hard to leave the house. Beautifully cleaned and prepped for us. Well stocked kitchen. Saw two very active sloth in the tree at the end of the pool. Extraordinary. And the biggest iguana I’ve ever seen. 5 foot? Toucans, moneys, coatis all kinds of birds. The sound was magical. Could hear the road below but soon got over it. Really appreciated the double gated community it’s. Amanda and Nancy were immediately responsive and helpful. Mama toucans had wonderful produce, organic, gluten free items. And the smoothies!! Dominican beach fun but try the others further south. I mean stunning sand and waves and not a creature in the water :). Fabulous. Would return.

Awesome view
The house was just as in the pictures and the view is amazing. The architecture and layout is very cool. It does require a bit of tolerance for the critters that can come and visit. We saw toads, frogs, lizards and an assortment of insects. None bothered us and it made for a fun jungle experience. We didn’t see any mosquitoes.
The location was good being about 10minutes to Dominical. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The kitchen was very well equipped.
The pool was nice although because it was dry season the afternoon breeze did deposit some leaves and debris from trees and required constant cleaning.
A 4x4 is a must for the steep dirt driveway but is also a good idea for getting to various places in this part of the country.

Jungle Paradise
Casa Azur is a Jungle Paradise. We stayed for two weeks. We saw Toucans, Macaws, Capuchin monkeys, Coatis, Tayra, butterflies and a lot of interesting insects, just from our lounge chairs by the pool. We spent many afternoons in the beautiful pool. The kitchen has new appliances and a gas stove. We made many meals and had them at the beautiful dinning table outside. The master suite is large and has a view of the jungle and the ocean. The en suite bathroom has plenty of room. The shower has one screened in wall for a feeling of an outdoor shower. The other two bedrooms are small and share a bathroom. The second bathroom has no air conditioner and is need of an update. They need new linens, bath towels and beach towels. The every other day Maid service is only once a week. The road to the villa is an adventure. You will need a 4X4, not only to get to the property but to also explore the area. Dominical is only about 10 minute and Uvita about 25. The management team Amanda and Nancy are awesome. Anything you need they are quick to respond.

I cannot say enough amazing things about the property, the owner, and the concierge service. The quick responses, flexibility, and overall helpfulness of both Greg and the concierge service (Amanda and Richard are wonderful) made planning our trip and through the entire time we were there, perfect. The excursions were so much fun, the pool side massages and private chef really made it a vacation we will never forget. We will be back. :)

First time in Costa Rica
The process and communication were excellent. Property was as described. Everything you needed was included. Luckily we brought a small speaker with us because the one in the house we couldn’t use. That was a bummer. We did a lot of communicating with the concierge, they were helpful considering it was our first time in Costa Rica. Next time we will be better prepared on our end because we know what to expect now. I would suggest that the owner purchase new towels and facecloths periodically. Please be mindful that you are on the mountain and it requires 4x4 transportation. Also ask about the curfews. I was skeptical of the pool at night because the lightening around the pool is very minimal. I like to see I guess I should say. There was a light in the lawn but it didn’t come on at night so it was dark but nice. Sorta on the romantic side. Lol. We did do some cooking and all of the utensils you needed were provided. Shot glasses and all! It is a really nice property and I would definitely stay again.

The perfect trip
My son and 3 of his friends stayed for 8 days, 7 nights, and if it weren't for the flight delays coming into San Jose, there would have been no issues at all. Once you book the house you will get an email from the owners welcoming you as well as giving you all the information for the concierge for the home. This was the main reason we picked this home. Being in a foreign country, a concierge seemed a logical choice. I can say without any hesitations at all that had it not been for Amanda, our concierge, the boys wouldn't have even made it through the first 24 hours. The plane was delayed 12 hours creating so much chaos getting into San Jose that I was on the phone (from the USA) with Amanda for almost 24 hours straight. Not only was she absolutely instrumental in getting all 4 boys to the house safely, she did this through out the night and then again early the next morning. There was never a time that I tried to contact her that she wasn't available. She found them a hotel after midnight, on the fly, rearranged the missed shuttles (San Jose airport is 3+ hours from the house) and even found lost luggage. She also arranged for the boys to have a private chef each night, made sure their refrigerator was full (and kept full through out the stay), procured a car for the stay as well as helped make reservations for all the excursions. The house itself was absolutely lovely as well a the weather. It sits way up in the mountains (you will need 4x4 car) with breathtaking views. (Another reason I picked this house was the privacy it afforded everyone.) It's a short drive down the mountain to the ocean where you can surf as well as visit the small town. Beautiful waterfalls and mile high views are everywhere. (Try the ATV tour) I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about the trip - minus the flight issues - from start to finish, it was the perfect trip. We plan to go back next year to enjoy it again - well as long as Amanda is there to guide us!

Delightful stay in Dominical
We enjoyed a beautiful six nights at Casa Azur, most of it in the outdoor kitchen area overlooking the ocean. The bedroom arrangement worked perfectly for us... a master bedroom with master bath in one wing (grandparents). The other wing, with a king room and queen room, allowed the little ones (7,5 and 3) to be close to their parents. The living space is relatively small, a kitchen and living area combined, surrounded by nearly invisible screen doors that slide back. The house is designed to live outside and enjoy the view, the wildlife and the pool. Even when it rained, we could sit at the big table under the roof and enjoy card games with the kids and meals.
The concierge staff was extremely helpful and responsive, particularly Amanda and Richard. They helped us resolve an issue with the rental car and quickly addressed a leak from the upstairs shower.
The indoor kitchen was well-stocked with all we needed to prepare meals -- and the outdoor kitchen had everything we needed to grill outside. Even a special refrigerator for red and white win.
The sunsets were breathtaking. We also got out to the beaches and to a wildlife refuge to see animals. The beaches near Dominical are beautiful -- especially Ventana Beach, with beautiful caves for the children to explore.
We marveled at the beautiful architecture of the house -- truly a labor of love. We wondered how it was even possible to get all of that concrete up the mountainside. Thanks, Greg Decker, for sharing it with us.

After about a year in Costa Rica and after staying in a few dozen special and designed homes, we were happy that we could still be surprised.Greg's house served us as a home away from home for about three weeks. Everything in the pictures does take place in reality, the service we were given was fast and caring, the property managers went out of their way to provide excellent service and were interested in us and in our needs. The house is equipped with all the necessary accessories, the view is breathtaking, the weather was perfect (some evenings even felt like cool European nights), the location is wonderful - remote enough to maintain privacy and quiet (we were mostly working) and still close enough to restaurants, shops and supermarkets. The beaches in the area are wonderful, and the distance is quite reasonable. It is advisable to arrive by car for maximum convenience, but in coordination with the property managers, you can get a shuttle service to anywhere in the area.If we come to this area again, we will always be happy to re-book the property and feel at home. Thank you!!

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay. The concierge team is responsive and very helpful. The home was furnished with the necessary items for a weeks stay.

Secluded rainforest villa
After Arenal/Monteverde/Bajos del Toro/Jacó, Casa Azur in Dominical was a nice change of pace. We enjoyed the private pool, lack of neighbors, expansive view, and surrounding nature. All were happy with their own bedroom and balcony. Maybe an update to the furnishings could only enhance the experience; more Tupperware/bowls would be helpful, too. We enjoyed the A/C throughout. The openness of the house made the forest come alive right before us! The Dominical concierge staff, especially Amanda, were helpful, accommodating and attentive communicators, making planning excursions seamless. We highly recommend Casa Azur and can’t wait to return!

delightful
we loved our stay! we enjoyed the color-changing lights in the pool, spotting all sorts of insects and birds around the property. Such beautiful sunset views. Soft sheets and fluffy towels/ Excellent master bathroom shower! We loved running down to the del mar taco shop- and to bagel time in uvita for ciannmon rolls-- a perfect way to wind down our two weeks in Cpsta rica!
