Booked this stay as we were working away. The pub looked nice although we didn’t have any drinks or food in there as they were doing a burger night in the Malthouse. The b and b has a shared bathroom that is down the end of the corridor and through a squeaky door that everyone can hear when it’s opened.
The room was very basic. There was also dog mess that a worker stepped into which was at the bottom of the outside stairs before entering or exiting the premises. The landlady also told us to F off which isn’t professional at all.
Can’t say that we will use this again which is a shame as it looked to be a nice place. Maybe it was just a bad day for them.

Great food, good breakfast. Friendly staff. Lovely resident dog.
Bathrooms very tired with rust and mould. Odd stuff left on stairs and landngs.. sheets and pillows were awful.

pleasant staff and warm welcome. because I was leaving before breakfast they packed me a lunch which was very thoughtful
due to the type of building there isn’t on suites and although there were tea making facilities in the room I had no spoon to stir my drink

Off site parking, unfortunately not much they can do about this though.

Not much
No en suite bathroom. Had to share. Breakfast very old fashioned. Just fried.

Location. Beds. Historical charm. Friendly staff.
Stair carpet was very dirty. The staff had a habit of leaving things on the stairs
- hoover, provisions, large German Shepherd. Charming but hazardous.
It may be a good idea to leave bottles of water in the room - having to go downstairs for water from the bathroom was not great.

Owners were friendly, good location. Breakfast was great
Bed were rock hard, pillows uncomfortable, duvets too small for the bed. Mini fridge in wardrobe was filthy. Carpet on the stairs to upstairs were covered in dirt and dog hairs

Wasn't anything I could complain about.

Right in the centre of the town. Nearby free parking.
The walk-through to the rooms is a bit grubby. The lighting in the room itself was dim. The window- blind was broken. There were used tissues on the floor under the seat. The bases to the showers in the shared bathrooms needed new sealant. I mentioned to the young lady on check-in that I would be leaving too early for breakfast and could I.take up the offer of the packed lunch. I received nothing! I think a '5' is generous.

The landlord and young staff were pleasant and helpful
The breakfast was poor. Bits were overcooked and some undercooked. The lady who cooked it was surly.

Friendliness atmosphere location
It is an old property with fantastic character but difficult to improve - sharing bathrooms and rooms up tight stairs but good value and a good breakfast
The management is very hard working and caring - a lovely old pub 👍

Staff were really friendly and it was no problem to bring the dog. There was an event on when we checked in - a wedding - and we were worried about the noise, but once we got upstairs you couldn't hear a thing. They left a good quality fan in the room to help us deal with the heat (our trip was at the end of July) and it made a big difference.
Twin room, my mattress was totally bombed out. My wife's one was ok. The showers and toilets are down the hall, communal style. I didn't notice this when booking but they may have stated it somewhere. There's another pub across the street which is a bit loud, the bedroom window faces it, but we actually slept ok.
