About this house rental

The guests will have full use of the entire house and grounds. The house is situated beside the sea amid the most stunning coastal scenery of the Wild Atlantic Way. Indeed it is just beside the Signature Point ‘Ceann Sleibhe’ (Slea Head), indicating that it is one of the most beautiful parts of the amazing driving route. It is also on the Slea Head Drive, a beautiful driving route on the Dingle Peninsula, and just below the Dingle Way (Slí Chorca Dhuibhne), a terrific walking trail. It is surrounded by archaeological monuments, and by a working sheep farm. Views to the south-east, across Dingle Bay, of Carrantuohill, the highest mountain in Ireland, south across to the Iveragh Peninsula and west to the Blasket Islands (which can be reached by ferry from Dún Chaoin (Dunquin), only 4 miles down the road. Choughs and gannets abound in this area, and you might be lucky and even see a pod of dolphins passing.
If you have an interest in film, you would like to know that some of ‘Far and Away’, starring Tom Cruise, was shot here, and much of ‘Ryan’s Daughter’ was shot nearby. More recently, ‘The Last Jedi’, of the Star Wars series, was shot only a few miles away – so they have certainly recognised how beautiful the area is!
The Dingle Peninsula has probably the greatest concentration of archaeological monuments of any part of Ireland, and they are here for you to discover. Your host will be able to advise on visiting many sites, from Bronze Age to Medieval.
Accommodation in the house consists of 4 bedrooms 2 with bathrooms en suite, 4 of which are doubles (3 king) and 2 have a single bed as well as a double. There is a downstairs bathroom with shower and jacuzzi bath. The downstairs consists of a large kitchen/dining room, large sitting room, entrance hall and main hall, utility room and one bedroom as well as the bathroom.
Your host, Aedán, has lived here all his life, and comes from a long line of farmers who have worked this land for centuries. He is very knowledgeable about living in the area, and can suggest plenty of excursions and activities for you. His family live nearby and will also be on-hand to offer advice and information.
No wi-fi provided – the downside of being in a remote, beautiful area, surrounded by mountains! So a good place to escape from the hurley-burley of modern life. You can listen to the waves breaking on the cliffs below, and to the many birds which pass by. On clear nights the vista of a huge, starry sky is entrancing.
There is ample off-road parking beside the house, but no public transport in the area, so a car (or bike for the hardy!) is necessary.
English and Irish spoken. Basic French and Spanish.
This area has inspired poets and artists – come and see what it might do for you!

Wonderful experience of Irish landscape, but bring a warm coat for cool breezy days! We even got a view of the Skelligs from the window!

Amazingly situated house on a bluff above the ocean near Slea Head. The pictures give you an idea but don’t give it full justice: the loop of Kerry peninsula is just to the south and you can see Great Blasket Island from the front of the house. Nighttime view of stars is great on clear nights! The kitchen had all we needed to fix meals for a large family group, including a wonderful Christmas dinner. The house has some very modern updates and a luxury feel. Very clean and new beds. The sitting room with the fireplace is very nice. Host Aedan was kind enough to set up a Christmas tree and Christmas decorations to warm our stay, and the fireplace warmed the temperature as well. You might want to just stay at the house, but there are things to do and see nearby: it is located on the Dingle peninsula loop drive. A lovely short easy hike on Dunmore Head is just an 8-minute drive away. Dingle, with groceries, restaurants, and shops, is about 25 minutes.

Aedan’s house is beautiful with every amenity you could need. Located on one of the most beautiful drives in Ireland. Aedan was available for any questions you would have. He even delivered my laptop to me on Killarney after I left it behind. Above and beyond the call

This is by far the nicest house we have ever stayed in for holidays! Every single aspect of the house was exquisite and Aedán and his parents were always on hand for every query we had. And a nice bonus with the lambs and the puppies visiting us on a regular basis. We can’t wait to come back to experience the winter in a few months!
