As the name implies, this house/location made it so easy to relax and enjoy nature, as well as hard to leave. The house supplied ample things to keep everyone entertained: Kayaks, floaties, fishing gear, corn hole and board games. The host also provided the necessity, we didn’t have to worry about stocking up before hand. A little bonding experience in teaching my girls to fish and they loved it. A truly grand experience and much needed family time.

Amazing place to stay! The name of the lake house "Serenity" truly is very accurate. It is a peaceful and beautiful place! John is a great and gets back to you quickly! I cant enough good things about this place!

Beautiful location away from the traffic and noise. Serenity was a home away from home. J. made us feel like part of the family by calling us ahead of time and making sure we knew where everything was located. Easy check in, plenty of things to keep us busy. Loved this beautiful home.

The name ‘Serenity’ does this property total justice being both remote and during our stay very peaceful. The cabin is next to a pond or more like a lake in uk terms. It’s pretty remote 30mins drive from Ellsworth which has lots of stores for supplies. The cabin is very well equipped and was great for our stay. The weather was in our favour with mist on the lake in the morning very haunting with just the birds calling. Then warm and sunny in the afternoon which was perfect for kayaking. The trip to Bar Harbor was great so was visiting Bass Harbor lighthouse and Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound. Overall would highly recommend for quiet and getting some you time

We had a great time visiting Acadia National Park and then road-tripping north along the Maine coast and doing our own lobster bake as well. Great location with absolutely splendid sunrises.

Perfect peace and quiet
I cannot say enough good things about the property owner. He made our stay most pleasant, noting every thing needed
It is a good place to retreat, sightsee and then retreat again.

Soul soothing location. 6:30am - you could have heard a pin drop from across the lake - only the call of a single loon swimming across the lake could be heard - magical! So nice to retreat from the hustle and bustle of Acadia during the day to this oasis .

Gorgeous lakefront property
Serenity is just that. It was perfect. Away from the crowds but still close enough to enjoy the park.

Wonderful stay!
Our family had an amazing experience staying at Serenity! The environment is truly serene, but there is plenty of wildlife to see and fun to be had with 3 kayaks and many floats to enjoy the peace of Abrams Pond. The owners, John and Kate, provided just about everything we needed to have a wonderful family vacation!

Fun for everyone
We all enjoyed our week at serenity. We had grandparents and kids along and everyone had a good time on the lake kayaking and fishing. We also took short day trips to Acadia. Since the kids are still young yet their hiking max is about 2 miles. Would definitely stay here again. What you see in listing is exactly what you get. Property was very clean!

Perfect Maine cabin on a lake
Great communication with John. This was the perfect spacious Maine cabin secluded away from the maddening crowd. It was well stocked with water toys, games, kids and grownup books, local travel information. It is a ways to drive into Bar Harbor and Acadia but a beautiful drive. The sunsets and sunrises couldn’t have been more glorious over the lake.

Serenity
We really enjoyed how well-stocked the house was with books, puzzles, games, kitchen supplies, and paper goods. Our 14 year old played with all the little animal toys and loved Maine-opoly. The setting was gorgeous- Abrams Pond was lovely at sunrise. We enjoyed kayaking around the quiet lake in the morning. The fireplace and tons of blankets were a plus in October! Mr. Pepe was a conscientious host and easily reached via email with questions. Future guests should know that there is no cell signal in the cottage, but good wifi. Also, the drive to Acadia was about 45 minutes - not a problem, but something to know! Overall, this house made our first trip to Maine a beautiful experience.

Dream cottage!
We feel like family when we stay at Serenity! Every detail has been considered; beautiful setting, private shore area, lots of games, movies, books and other things to make you feel comfortable! There is always some improvement made and the love and care put into this lake house is most obvious! Our family can't wait to return!

Awesome week at Serenity
We had a wonderful week at Serenity. Everything was ready for us when we arrived. The house was the perfect size for our family of 7. There was plenty for us to do but spend most of our time on the kayaks and fishing off the dock.

Awesome weather and great amenities!
J. Has been great to us renting the house over the last 8 years. We love the remote location and proximity to Bar Harbor. The weather this year was phenomenal!
We saw bald eagles, herons and plenty of geese and ducks on the dock and from the deck.
We are looking forward to next year!

Quiet, comfortable, serene
We enjoyed Serenity very much and found John's place to be very comfortable, had almost everything we needed. Great waterfront, safe for kids, terrific fishing, wonderful books, games, etc. Three generations had a blast and plan to travel there again. Thanks for everything! A memorable family vacation on a beautiful "pond"!

Another fantastic stay at Serenity!
We enjoyed our second year in a row at Serenity. This time we took a few day trips to Acadia to hike with my one & three year old. We also hiked Scoodic Mountain which is a little closer and you avoid the traffic of Acadia and Bar Harbor. We spent the late afternoons and evenings kayaking, swimming, and enjoying a fire and smores. We will definitely want to go back to Serenity again!

Perfect Vacation
This was our first visit to Serenity, but not our last! We are already planning a return next year. We traveled with my family which is my husband myself and our two year old and 8 month old, my parents who are both retired, and my brother and sister in law joined us for a few days as well. We all enjoyed our visit! My two year old loved swimming in the lake especially because there was no large drop off. The lake is very quiet with no loud boats or jet skis going all day. We went kayaking most days and enjoyed fires at night. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for cooking. We did a day trip into Boothbay, but staying right at the camp was the best part of the vacation!

The best getaway for nature lovers
This was our 5th visit to Serenity. As always it was one of the most relaxing vacations we get to take. We love the water and are kayaking everyday! The property is perfect with the water access and big yard for games. We really enjoy the wildlife! We always see the Bald eagle and love getting pictures of it. The loons, frogs and ducks are amazing to watch. The house is so quaint and comfortable. We just love it here!

Perfect!
What an awesome place. Comfortable, inviting and peaceful while retaining that Maine Camp character that truly encourages everyone to take a deep breath and just decompress from the stresses of everyday life. The smallmouth bass fishing was excellent and kept the boys busy while the girls enjoyed the peace and quiet of resting, reading and relaxing. Great location to access Acadia, Bar Harbor and other Maine treasures along Rt. 1. such as Sullivan Harbor Farms in Franklin, ME for smoked fish/seafood and countless farmers markets for additional delicacies. There's much to enjoy around here but the most enjoyable days can be spent right there at Serenity. See a few sights, stock up on some provisions while you are in town (smoked salmon, trout, scallops, cheese, figs, crackers, etc. along with a few bottles of wine), and then enjoy some al-fresco picnics beneath one of the many shade trees right there at Serenity. I guarantee that it will put a smile on your face and put your heart and mind at ease. This place epitomizes the saying: Maine - The way life should be!!!

Serene Getaway!
Another great week of beautiful weather. We had cool nights and warm days! Trips to Acadia and Bar Harbor were wonderful. Went out to dinner at 44 degrees North, and picked up our own lobster from DownEast Lobster Pound. Every year we find new adventures to check out. We love having all the amenities at our disposal. J. makes sure we are all comfortable and welcome. Love staying at this serene locale. We also got to see the Rainbow! Looking forward to future vacations here!

A quiet family vacation with the loons
What a lovely spot. In our opinion, this house had the choice spot on the pond, which was so quiet and peaceful at all times during our stay. (In other words, we did not see or hear one power boat or jet ski during our stay.) We are a family with three teens, so the kayaks were abundantly used by all. We especially enjoyed communing with the loons, who let us kayak (quietly) fairly close to them without concern. With our loon visits, our early morning kayak trips on glassy waters were the highlight, for sure. Bald eagle sightings were icing on the cake...and, yes, we were fortunate enough to see a double rainbow on our first day. One note to those with very young children: the pond has a very gradual beach, so this would really be a perfect spot for children who want to putter around and splash in the water.
A trip into Ellsworth is very doable, as is some hiking or exploring in Acadia. We particularly enjoyed Schoodic Peninsula. We ate at home most nights, but Finn's Pub is a great stop for dinner, as is the Riverside Cafe for breakfast (both in Ellsworth).
We did have a couple of rainy days (very stormy, in fact). We never lost power (disappointing our daughter greatly), and the books, games, puzzles and DVDs got us through very nicely (Chinese checkers and Pachisi (Parcheesi), anyone?). The house itself is very spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view of the pond. Highly recommended all around.

Perfect getaway for large families!!
We cannot say enough good things about this home! Everything was just perfect! The house was spacious, clean, comfortable, and inviting. It definitely felt like "home" while we were there!
The owners are extremely friendly and were readily available to discuss any questions we had prior to the trip. About a week or 2 before the trip, the owner e-mailed out directions and a list of things we would/wouldn't need to bring, which was so helpful and much appreciated!!!
Some things we liked best about the house are: waking up every morning and having a cup of coffee out on the deck overlooking the peaceful and quiet lake, the spaciousness and openness of the first floor, the extremely comfortable beds, the fully-stocked kitchen, having access to a laundry machine and dishwasher, having the sheets/towels provided (this is HUGE with a large family!), the wide selection of movies, and the sizable yard for lawn games.
Some of the hi-lights of our trip were fishing (my dad caught a 19" small-mouth bass), swimming, kayaking (my 3 kids ages 8, 6, and 5 all learned to kayak that week on the lake and they LOVED it!!), watching and feeding the families of ducks, campfires and board games at night, and a day trip to Bar Harbor.
We highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing, and peaceful getaway. Both kids and adults had a wonderful and memorable trip!!

The most relaxing vacation ever!
I have stayed here two years in a row and absolutely loved it both times. Everything about it was perfect. The house is so cozy, the water is beautiful and you are close to Acadia National Park and beautiful Bar Harbor. I will return again and again! As a matter of fact I already have reservations for 2013.

Getaway from it all
My family and I loved the getaway! It really is serene and an idyllic setting. We had a great family time with our kids with us, 18, 11 and twin 1 yr olds. The grass heading out to the water was enjoyable to let the kids play and run around. We setup the volleyball/badminton net and even caught fish with nets, no luck on the poles. It was a good 20 minute drive into town, and not too far from Acadia. We are planning on coming back up next year and in future years. Thanks J for making this a home away from home with all the extras!
