Great property. As described. The lake was beautiful!

We absolutely loved our stay on Molasses Pond. It was 4 adults and 4 teenagers. We had several days that we ventured into Acadia NP and Bar Harbor, and several days lounging around the pond house. The home had everything listed and previous guests may have also left some items we used. We actually left a wiffle ball set for future guests.
It had plenty of comfort and we didnt really lack for anything. I would suggest maybe having some more throw blankets for the living room to cuddle up with. Otherwise, the internet and TV worked great, the teenagers loved the ping pong and pool tables. We swam and paddled in the pond and truly enjoyed the home.
We highly recommend this property! The property managers and owners were wonderful. We only had to contact them one time because we lost power for a couple hours, but used it as an opportunity to go get some dinner out in Ellsworth. Power was restored within 3 hours.
We enjoyed the local lumberjack show, hiking in Acadia NP and shopping in Bar Harbor. We did do the whale watching tour and while we saw two whales, I am not sure we would do it again. It is quite pricey and unless you are able to see alot of whales, dolphins etc, it wasnt worth the money. At least for us, to each their own. That has nothing to do with this property, but did want to leave it for future vacationers.
If you stay here, you will truly enjoy yourself. It has solitude, but also gives you a relatively short drive to more urban amenities. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We had a wonderful week at the Calling Loon! Our family group consisted of 5 adults and 2 dogs. Upon arriving at the house, my husband's first remark was "call them right now and ask them if they want to sell." Lol! He absolutely loved it. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for the week. The landscaping was beautiful. We loved watching the sunset and the baby loons from the dock. My son and I took one of the canoes out and had a blast together. We also enjoyed the pool table and ping pong table. My kids and dogs swam in the pond which was surprisingly clean. The house is located in a very secluded area which we loved but if you are planning to do the touristy things, keep in mind that it is at least a 30 minute trek to get anywhere. The last mile of the road to the house is dirt/gravel and you really have to watch for rocks sticking up. (We drove a Cadillac sedan and scraped the bottom a few times but my parents had an SUV and were fine). The hosts, Eric and Shawna were very pleasnt and responsive. We would definitely stay here again. 10/10 for sure! (ps the mosquitos are relentless so bring lots of bug spray!)

Great house, well stocked, very spacious and accommodating. A gem, right on a large lake/pond, in the middle of the woods. Stayed with family and dogs during a balmy October week and pretty much had the entire lake to ourselves to kayak on all week.
Had several Loon sightings and spotted a Bald Eagle over by the island on the Pond.
If you're good with a little unpaved road driving and follow the directions given to you by the owners, you're going to be very happy with your stay.
About a 1/2 an hour to Ellsworth for supplies and less then an hour to the lobster shacks in Trenton and on to Acadia National Park.

We had a lovely stay at Molasses Pond. The house was exactly as expected/hoped for. Nice bedding, nice comfortable furniture. In good repair. No complaints!! We would absolutely book again.

Our large family rented 3 different homes on Molasses Pond. This home was by far the best. It was spacious, clean, well maintained and had a beautiful view from the living area. The outdoor area was perfect for swimming, fishing, kayaking and having an evening campfire. I would recommend this home to family and friends.

The house was so beautiful! Was exceptionally clean & more well stocked than any VRBO house we have ever stayed in over the years. Enjoyed sitting on the dock listening to the lions & fishing. Caught a 4 pound smallmouth on very first cast & more white perch than I could count. Short trip to Bar Harbor & Schoodic point. It was a very quiet, peaceful & relaxing vacation. We would whole heartedly recommend this property & would not hesitate to book again for ourselves.

Beautiful home, fully appointed. Gorgeous property.

This property was perfect for our family. Plenty of room, very well stocked, clean, great yard and beach area for the little ones and adults alike. We had trouble finding it initially, and it is further away from Acadia then we realized, but manageable. Beautiful location, great host, we had a wonderful first family trip to the Maine coastal area.

We had a wonderful stay at the house. The house is nicely stocked including the kitchen. My family loved the secluded feel and being able to take the canoe and kayaks out together on the pond, which felt more like a lake. We spent most of our days hiking and exploring Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. The house is definitely off the beaten path, and we had to drive most days about an hour to get to our Destination which was no big deal for us, but if that’s not for you this house may be a little out of the way if you are planning to spend most days in Acadia National Park. However for us it was a great house!

Family vacation
The property was immaculate when we arrived. Plenty of room for our entire family of 14. Not sure why the water is called a pond. The lake is large and very clean. We will book again in the future!

I can't say enough good things~
I've stayed at many rental houses throughout the years, and this by far has to be the best. The property was clean, extremely well equipped, and well thought out. The manager was communicative and pleasant to work with. Plus, the pictures on this site do not do it justice. It is far more beautiful in person. Can't wait to stay there again!

Wonderful home that is very well stocked with everything we needed. All pots and pans were high quality and good shape. The best stocked home of all we have rented Plenty of towels for 9 people. It is a remote location which is what we were looking for, very little boat traffic on the pond, very quite and peaceful. Nice little beach to access the water. Wonderful sunsets and calling loons. VRBO agent and owners very easy to work with. Highly recommend renting this home.

This is our second vacation at this rental property. Both have been fabulous. The owners are wonderful to work with. The property is clean, very spacious and well equipped. The sunsets are beautiful and the stars are magnificent. We stood out on the deck and saw the most beautiful night sky. What we enjoy most about this property is the peacefulness and the calling of the loons at night.

This was our second year here on the same week. We chose to come back here because the house was just perfect. Lots of space, clean and well cared for, and right on the pond. Loons, Merganza ducks, the view from the dock. Driving distance can be a problem if you let it, we did not. We made our plans around location this year and were not disappointed. Brought our own kayaks and found many great lakes and ponds to kayak that were close to the house, even photographed a bald eagle on one of our kayak excursions. Took one day and went to Acadia hiking. Thank to our hosts for such a beautiful home and for making things so easy. We had a great time.

Beautiful home and nice country property. Would have been better in the summer when you could enjoy going for a swim, but we did get out in the canoe which was nice.
Justn one word of caution. DON'T TREUST YOUR GPS! It took us on the wrong road a few times, and usually wanted one that was closed off or one that should have been.

Great house, great location, perfect interactions with owner/managers. Definitely staying here again.

If you only look at the pictures, will definitely like the home. But if you try to find the home specially after sunset you will end up praying to GOD more than ever as even google map surrenders and never takes you there. Last 2 to 3 miles to home are scary and horrible after sunset. Home was also not as clean as we usually get in other holiday homes; nowhere close to covid standard cleaning. Only kitchen area was clean but everywhere else we noticed dust and flies were also roaming to scare kids. We have been to many lake front houses across the country but never had such pathetic roads leading to home. Will never recommend it to anyone or stay at this property again.

Beautiful location!
My husband and I loved the property and the house exceeded our expectations. The views of the pond were beautiful!! We loved the peace and quiet and enjoyed sitting on the dock watching the sun set over the water. We will definitely book again with this property. Thank you!

Lakehouse Leisure Time
The house was beautiful and the outside setting on the lake was awesome. It is definitely a little remote and the last few miles could be tricky with a low sitting vehicle; but other than that, we had a great time. Kayaking on the lake and listening to the loons was just so relaxing. If we come back to Maine, this would definitely be a great option again.

This house couldn’t have been more perfect, especially the reason for this trip being a gateway from the hustle and noise of city life.
The house itself was gorgeous and perfect for the group I came with. Each morning making a pot of coffee and sitting by the dock, to taking day trips to Acadia and Bar Harbor to embrace the tourist lifestyle.
I will be more than happy to stay here again wothout question.

This property is as advertised! Great location right on Molasses Pond with lots of on-site activities - swimming, boating, fishing, yard games, camp fires. etc. The sunsets were breathtaking and the bass were biting all week. Our party of 8 consisted of three families ranging in age from "grandma" to a 3 year old. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their time!
Some things to be aware of... The house has all wood and tile floors. This makes it pet friendly but also makes the sound travel throughout. Also, the 4 loft beds are exposed to the main living area. These two elements combined mean you should be conscious of noise from your night owls and/or early birds. Also, the drive into Acadia/Bar Harbor is a good hour. If you don't mind driving that won't be an issue, but otherwise something of which to be aware. If you're looking for live bait for fishing, the closest place we could find was the Tideway Market Irving in Hancock right on Rt. 1.
I think the best test of a property is whether we'd want to return. In the words of my 14 year old: "Dad, can we come back here again?" Enough said!

My family of 13 stayed in the beautiful lake home for a week. They had just about everything we needed in the kitchen. We loved the kayak and canoe, billiards and ping pong. The sunsets were beautiful. We did a big puzzle too since we did have rain most of the week. We were able to go to Acadia, the Lumberjack show, and a seal and lobster boat tour in Bar Harbor followed by ice cream for dinner! We did enjoy a couple dinners out, but really enjoyed the Lobster BBQ. They had the best lobster and blueberry pie.

Much Needed Post Covid Vacation
The property was everything we hoped for and more. It was immaculately clean, inviting and the water access and fishing dock were a welcome retreat. We kayaked on the pond, the husbands fished while the wives photographed. Beautiful scenery inclusive of Loons, Hooded Merganzer with their offspring, swallow tail butterflies....it was magnificent. The only drawback was the distance to town and Acadia. Once we adjusted our thinking, we were able to enjoy local hiking and kayaking on the many local lakes and ponds. Looking forward to booking again, maybe with the grandkids.

Peaceful Getaway
Calling Loon Lake House was exceptional. The house and property were beautiful. The owners were great to communicate with. We had a little issue with the house and the owners were quick to respond and get it taken care of. The hour to Acadia National Park was very doable. We went several times. We enjoyed Molasses Pond very much. We loved fishing, kayaking and the beautiful sunsets.

My family and I had a wonderful experience on Molasses Pond. The house was perfect for our needs. Anyone who rents the house does need to understand that the property is many miles off a paved highway. We live in the country, so the location was not a problem. Arriving in the daylight is important; you may be disoriented (even with directions) otherwise.

What a wonderful way to have a safe and fun “staycation” in our home state during school vacation week. We reveled in this beautifully maintained, comfortable and cozy home with our family, playing games and reading by the fire, enjoying delicious meals cooked in the well-equipped and wonderfully laid out kitchen, and snowshoeing and skating on Molasses Pond. We also took several day trips to Acadia National Park and Schoodic Peninsula, enjoying this beautiful part of Maine. We loved playing ping pong and pool, and had more than enough room to spread out with our family of five and two dogs. The property managers were friendly, welcoming, and checked in to make sure we had all we needed (we did!). We hope to come again!
