My son recently graduated from college and is now working in Rutherfordton so we decided to visit him. We usually rent beach homes and have never stayed in a community like Riverbend but so glad we did! Stairwsy to Heaven is the perfect name for this paradise. The views from the balcony are breathtaking! The home is absolutely incredible. Love the design and layout of the home. It was easy to find and Jeff was so patient with me and all of my questions prior to booking! We had everything we needed and appreciate Jeff sharing his home with us!
I read quite a bit about the stairs leading down to the river. I had hip replacement last Oct and took my time going down the stairs. So Glad U Did! You can hear the water from the balconies but to see it through the trees as you walking down the stairs is like Christmas morning!

Every thing was great 👍 and we all had a good time

This was a beautiful fall weekend to be away and the house worked out really well. We ended up with 6 of us staying there instead of 8 ( plus a child) so probably better as it would have been pretty tight with 2 more adults and a period we enjoyed sitting on the deck and playing cards and cooking meals together.period. Aside from some very minor maintenance issues this place was perfect and the host was very responsive and helpful

Beautiful cabin with stunning views of the mountains. Loved our time of fellowship here! Look forward to returning next year!

Property was functional and clean. Close to Chimney Rock with good stores and restaurants.

Great place to stay everything was just like home. enjoyed all the water activity.....love it

Jeff was extremely responsive. The view was breathtaking, the property was spacious, and the Broad River was magical and serene. We were about 20 minutes from Chimney Rock and an hour from Asheville. The kitchen was completely functional- ate all our meals there and hardly wanted to leave the property- so much to do! Highly recommend it!!
4.8
The property is beautiful and breathtaking with mountain views and river access. The home reminds me of a wonderful treehouse with all of the amenities!
4.8
The property is not what we expected. It needs a good heavy duty cleaning. The water is 180 steps down and 180 back up. Once we got there it was not good for swimming or playing. The rocks were very slippery and the current too fast. The washer and dryer were very old and took hours to do one load of laundry and they were extremely noisy
The price was too high for what it offered.

This cabin was in a great location. Super close to the grocery store and to Lake Lure. The river on property was so refreshing and a lot of fun. The steps getting up and down were difficult but worth it. Would not be good for older people. The cabin kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. We would recommend this cabin.

We love the location of the property. Beautiful scenery, direct to the river, and easy access to Lake Lure. The house was clean, well stocked, and plenty of room for all guests.

My favorite part of our stay was Mirror Lake and the river below the house. Mirror Lake was peaceful and a great little lake to canoe, fish, tube and swim. Wonderful vacation

Great stay, lots of little things to make the stay more comfortable, tubes, games and fire pit were great. Spices and soaps were helpful. Wished the doors(bathrooms, bedrooms, exterior) were lockable. Internet was barely there no streaming, need a better selection of DVDs or at least an antenna if that’s the only option. 200 steps between deck and river was daunting, but doable with breaks.

Beautiful location to feel like you’re far away but close to grocery and outdoor adventures. Cabin was well equipped for cooking, campfires and back porch sipping. Roads were in great condition and maintained even after heavy rain.

Our stay at this cabin was magical. We’ve been visiting the NC/TN area for over 25 years and this may well be our favorite of all of the cabins we’ve ever stayed in. To have both a gorgeous mountain view and access to a sublime river oasis is a rare gem indeed. The cabin itself was clean and cozy. There was plenty of space for our family of 6. With 3 separate levels, there was lots of room for everyone to have their own space. The beds were comfy as were the sofas. The kitchen had everything we needed. And we spent hours enjoying the deck with its majestic view, rocking chairs, and inviting hammock. Naps were taken in that hammock! We brought our dog and she had a ball (literally) playing in the fenced backyard as well as by the river. We enjoyed the fire pit multiple nights and made memories making s’mores, laughing, and enjoying the peace and tranquility under the stars. Tubes were provided and we had a great time tubing down the river. The only time we left the cabin was for hiking and grocery shopping. But, in all honesty, we could have stayed at the cabin the whole time. Now that we are back home, we are all missing it so much. Thank you, Jeff, for a wonderful stay. Our family absolutely loved it and we can’t wait to return.

The cabin was great, it had everything you could possibly need. Very comfortable beds, and the view of the mountains and river was beautiful.

This was our second stay here. Owner is very responsive and communicates quickly, kitchen is well appointed, and the space is beautiful!

We had 2 families in for a long weekend and it was fantastic. Both families have a small dog, so this cabin was perfect for us. Getting to the property is easy, the views are beautiful, the house is updated, comfortable and well stocked. The ride into town (Lake Lure) is 5 minutes where there is a grocery store and restaurants. Chimney Rock is 10 minutes away. Our little kids wanted to go snow tubing which was only 35 minutes away, with a vineyard next door (so that was nice for the adults afterwards.) Everything about the house and property was great. The walk down to the river is awesome but be ready for quite the walk up the steps when you come back up. Wildlife is everywhere. We saw deer and turkeys on site and black bears in Chimney Rock State Park.
My only issue would be that the internet strength is a little weak. With the tv being based on streaming services, and then everyone logs into the Wi-Fi, everything slows to a crawl. So even though you aren't at this house to watch tv, it still happens and that got a little annoying. Maybe the service provider was having issues or maybe that is all you can get there in the mountains, but that didn't take anything away from the stay and we would gladly come again.

I would definitely recommend this property. Beautiful place and had everything needed for a restful enjoyable stay!

Everything went smoothly, from online rental, to check-in and checkout. Had lots of supplies that where needed and kept us from have to bring so much stuff. Location was perfect, easy to get to and from. We all enjoyed our stay!

The property was absolutely beautiful..just a bit to get to. Pros: Had absolutely everything we needed. A lot of amenities…wi-fi, tvs, games, outside chairs,LOVED the outside firepit. Cons: Couldn’t use gas grill(too dirty) Fridge took forever to cool down. That driveway was…horrid..lolz..
Overall though, I would definitely like to go back..longer stay…to enjoy the beauty of the area more…s

Our family enjoyed our stay at Jeff’s home ,
Had everything you would need for a nice stay including beautiful scenery !

The view was amazing! Jeff was very accessible. Do be warned that there are a lot of steps. You will get plenty of exercise but I didn't mind that at all.
4.8
Everything was super comfortable. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for the accuracy of the online listing is that the pictures don't show that there is a steep driveway. It would be very difficult to manage for older people who are a little unsure of their ability to manage short steep climbs and lots of stairs.
4.8
It was family vacation time again for all 12 of us. The cabin was spacious and stocked with everything you could even think of. Jeff went above and beyond to make sure you were comfortable and well satisfied. All you needed to bring was food. The 179 steps down to the river was they work out but well worth the trip. The river was cool and refreshing and Jeff even provided the tubes to float on. We would definitely stay here again.

Staying here with my family was an incredible adventure. Having the river right below is
is, a fire pit in the backyard, and the beautiful cabin to rest in, made our vacation perfect. Jeff was and is an incredible host and his communication was stellar. I look forward to to our next adventure and will definitely keep Jeff’s properties at the top of my list.

Great family vacation spot!!!
This is a beautiful property exactly as described. We enjoyed a day on Lake Lure, went tubing, hiking, Chimney Rock, had a campfire w/ ‘ s’mores & relaxed on the deck overlooking the beautiful mountains. The dogs loved the fenced in backyard & the hikes on nearby trails. Thank you Jeff for an amazing family summer vacation!

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful mountain getaway.

There was nothing lacking at this property. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was big and had everything we needed, and the porches and backyard were awesome! We spent a lot of time down at the creek and loved floating down the river from the front of the subdivision back to the property! The location was also great to visit Lake Lure Beach and Chimney Rock. Jeff was a great host as well. We would definitely rent again!

Beautiful relaxing stay
The home was cozy and clean. Everything that you could possibly need for a week was available for use. We loved sitting on the wood deck listening to the river. The property owner was great to work with it. I would definitely recommend this place !

We had a wonderful stay but the towels had a mildew smell and one of the door knobs to the bathroom kept falling off. The door handles needed some maintenance to make them easier to use. Also, the river steps need something on them to make them less slippery. The river is not as close as we thought. Overall, we still had a fun weekend and stay at this cabin!

I absolutely LOVED this house! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My family and I arrived around 2am and the road was a bit difficult to navigate because it was so dark. If you can help it, arrive during the day. The road is a gravel road and the hills to the house are pretty steep.
Upon arrival, it was easy to access the keys and enter through the garage. There was a foosball and ping pong table in the garage. Once you go through the garage and enter the house, you walk into a space with two twin beds. I would have preferred the door between the garage and the house have a lock. It did not. That space had a beautiful balcony. This floor did get pretty cold at night. But there was a small heater available that more than helped warm the space.
You walk up to the second floor and the space is beautiful. The kitchen was big and packed with everything you could need. The water dispenser on the refrigerator didn’t work. The dining table had ample seating for everyone in my family of six. The couches were very comfortable and had heavy blankets for people to use. The master bedroom and a bath were also located on this floor. There were two doors that let out onto another balcony. There was a hammock and deck seating that was also used throughout our stay. There was also a grill. We did not use that, but it was nice to have the option.
The upper floor had two bedrooms, a bath, and a loft area. There was a futon, but it was broken in the middle. Despite having the temperature lower, the upper floor did get rather hot. If you get hot, I’d recommend sleeping in the lower floors. I did, however, love my view when I woke up and could see the beautiful scenery. The views are breathtaking!
Going outside, there is ample seating on the balconies. Under the main staircase there is a tiki toss that we didn’t realize until the second day there. The backyard is fenced. There is a fire pit and plenty of wood under the deck. It was so peaceful sitting around the fire pit, eating s’mores, and enjoying the scenery. There is a walk down to the river; but the 179 step journey is so worth it! The river and serenity is worth it. It was too cold to tube (tubes are provided), but we enjoyed wading in the water.
There was plenty to do nearby. We walked around town, climbed Chimney rock, went zip lining, and toured The Biltmore. I have rented many houses, but this was the BEST! It was clean and had plenty of blankets, sheets, and pillows. Highly recommend.

Great vacation stay!
We loved our time at this property - beautiful views and lovely spot on the river. Great location to be able to visit many different areas if you want, and the home provided lots of space for our family to stretch out and enjoy the scenic views. Home had everything we needed! We loved the outdoor fireplace - it provided the perfect place to roast s'mores and tell stories. And the view from the porch was ideal for morning coffee. Definitely recommend - it was a great stay for our family of 5!

The Perfect Getaway
This was all that is advertised and more. We wanted seclusion with the conveniences of a few restaurants and even a grocery store 15 minutes away. From the kitchen to the outdoor fire circle, Jeff’s place was perfect. The Mountain View’s were beautiful and the breeze was a welcome respite from some of the work in which we were engaged on our laptops. In the summer, the River would have been a tremendous plus as well. We communicated with Jeff as needed and even extended our stay two extra days. Thank you, Jeff. We’ll be back!
