About this cabin rental
Come stay in Idaho paradise at the locally famous, downtown adjacent CDA A-frame cabin on the lake! Built in 1962 as a roadside curio business named the Apache Rock Shop, it was transformed in 2019 as fun four season vacation rental now known as "Eagle Outpost."
Enjoy one of the few truly private lake properties with beach & docks along the beautiful northeast section of Lake Coeur d' Alene. Arrive via a scenic lake route, just an easy 10 minute drive from downtown.
Do something different than the typical stay at an average house in a packed residential neighborhood - remember this is amazing north Idaho! Your neck of the woods spans over an acre from road level lake views to 200ft of private access lakefront - all yours to explore. Have a campfire with friends and family in our basalt firepit area or in the beach firepit, watch eagles soar, have a soak in the classic cedar-sided hot tub while taking in amazing sunsets, take a bike ride with provided bikes on the Centennial Trail out front, play at the beach with all the toys (seasonal) all day long... and so much more. Take a look at our reviews, and realize how many amenities you'll find here - in fact you may just find you don't need to go anywhere but here :-)
Eagle Outpost is perfect for just about any traveler, from an artist's solo retreat, to a romantic couple's getaway, to group gatherings (large groups will want to bring RV's given limited space and single bathroom.) A per-person fee applies beyond 4 guests - please inquire for more details. In addition to the A-frame cabin and seperate bunkhouse, there are 2 RV spaces on a 40x40 level gravel pad- if you have RV's, or choose to rent them.
From late May through September enjoy our awesome water toys - a massive water trampoline with balance log and launch pad, 4 SUP's, inflatable rafts and kayaks, three 17ft canoes, over a dozen lifevests of all sizes, masks and snorkels, fishing poles, and more! Also enjoy the BBQ, firepit, tables and chairs plus umbrellas on the beach. If adventurous, you can use the hard watercraft anytime of year including winter as the lake is deep here and won't freeze, plus the dock is designed for all-year use.
Also available are his and her bikes and kids bikes for the Centennial Trail. Bringing young kids? - there are bike trailers too. And having ample property, in addition to biking and lake fun, I have a variety of seasonal outdoor games - Frisbee golf, cornhole, horseshoes, tether ball, snowshoes and cross country skis, and other fun stuff as the list keeps growing. In fact if you think of any toys or amenities we don't currently have (ebikes, snowbikes, rental boats, etc) please ask and I'll try to find a way to get them, or at the very least help direct you where to go.
*** PLEASE NOTE that the main cabin bedroom is an open mezzanine. It feels very private as guests below can't see you, but take this into consideration if staying with others. And note the size of the cabin, it's 642 sqft with loft but feels more spacious thanks to the open floor plan and soaring ceiling. Also note that guests beyond two persons will need to use the closely spaced but very comfortable queen sized futons in the common area, or the seperate bunkhouse that contains a full loft bed, full adjustable massage bed below, and a full sofa sleeper (for a total of 6 double sleeper beds). Bunkhouse use does have an added $50 cleaning fee. If you have a booking beyond 2 people and want to consider it, please let me know at the time of booking ***
IMPORTANT LAKE NOTICE - there is a public road (Coeur d'Alene Lake Dr) between the cabin and lake, and a 80' tall lake embankment with trail before the beach. The pathway is a little steep, including stair sections (70 stars total, see pics), so please be in average physical condition and watch the little ones if taking advantage of the lake and docks. It's not too bad, I go down it often with family and friends including young and old, just be aware of it. Also CDA Lake Dr can get busy depending on time of day and season, though there is no through traffic as it dead ends less than a mile from the cabin. No gates installed yet on both sides of the half circular driveway, so watch the kids and any pets during your stay. Untrained pets not recommended.
PET NOTICE - We are dog friendly, but ALL dogs require pre-approval, and come with rules and are subject to a $50 pet fee per animal if approved. ALL other pets please inquire. No cats, sorry :(
For activity lovers, north Idaho is an amazing four season playground for watersports, hiking, biking, atv riding, fishing, gem finding, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, etc. Down-time activities include a growing list of excellent restaurants (including Tony's on the Lake just walking distance from the cabin!), bars, music venues, coffee houses, and a wide variety of shops. Information buffs can explore the area's rich history in forestry, mining, and transportation via some great local tours and museums. Other major attractions nearby include Silverwood theme park and the year-round Silver Rapids indoor waterpark. The possibilities are endless! Reach out beforehand and let me know what you're interested in, or let me help you create an itinerary - I know this area and its people and businesses very well, and promise to help make your vacation unforgettable :)
Thanks and please reach out if you have any questions at all. This is a unique property and bound to be a few. Thank you :-)

The host is very quick to address any issues or questions that may come up. This place has it all! There are so many games and equipment that are available for use that you will not be bored no matter your age. The traffic on the road is insane. So many motorcycles flying past and nobody drives the speed limit so if you have younger kids you’ll need to keep a close eye on them. We brought the majority of our food to save money on eating out but there really isn’t a lot of space for storage inside the cabin but can make use of the “game room” shed for anything extra. There is a nice grill and blackstone griddle for cooking and we spent the majority of our time hanging out on the cute porch. Having a private beach is nice and there are plenty of things down there for entertainment, such as kayaks, canoes, life vests, fishing poles, etc. The picnic table and some of the chairs need to be replaced as they are broken but that didn’t take away from the fun. It is a bit of a trek getting down all of the stairs so make sure you pack anything down with you as you will not want to hike back up to the cabin. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and would definitely rent this cute place again if we ever go back.

Absolutely loved it. Very accommodating and cozy. We had a great time. Would absolutely stay there again if possible!

This cute little A frame is perfectly situated next to the lake which made our vacation a lot of fun! The owner has gone all-out on amenities and I'm not sure it's possible to leave this place bored. There's kayaking, inner-tubes, bikes, a hot tub, table games, and even an X-Box. It's a near perfect stay!
Pros:
*You won't be bored, there's so much to do
*Can't beat the view, you're right across from a private beach
*Something for everyone with local leisure activities
*Not far from food or shopping but outside of town
*Amenities like snacks, furniture, and extras are really thoughtful.
Cons:
*There was a lot of broken items, shame on past guests. The CD player didn't work at all, the fishing poles seemed to have pieces broken off of them, kayaks were missing non-essential parts, a large wooden beam in the kitchen was horribly cracked, one of the bikes was missing a tire, the pool table was missing two balls, etc. Mostly a lot of little things that are easy to miss, but it detracted from some of the joy of the place for sure.
*The bed is extremely soft which felt great at first but left both of us feeling like we'd been run over coming and going the next day. I recommend sleeping on the futons if you have any kind of arthritis
*Don't ignore the other reviews talking about the steep trek to the private beach. We're in pretty decent shape but that hike is downright brutal--it's nearly vertical and it's pretty long.
*Drivers on the road outside are insane. Be careful!

This house was absolutely perfect for a group of friends. Communication was fantastic and the house itself had everything you could want and more! Loved it!

Advertised as multiple bedrooms that can sleep 16. I’m assuming that is with the little adjacent cabin available with an extra fee. The A-frame technically has zero bedrooms. The loft has a queen bed (which was comfortable) and the main floor had two futon sofas right next to each other. It was just one open space, offering no privacy. This place is only good for a couple, small family, or very close friends. Even so, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. We encountered multiple problems. There is no oven, just a toaster oven which was dirty with crumbs and an electric range top. Thankfully, we planned to grill. The outdoor heater didn’t work even after switching propane tanks. The hot tub jets didn’t work, nor did its lights. And it stank like a fish tank. It was hot, however. The furniture on the main floor wasn’t functional. The dining table is unsteady and decrepit, the barstools were extremely rickety, and the futons were uncomfortable for both sitting and sleeping. The best thing inside was the shower. The house is in a great location. It just needs updated functional furniture and care.

We had an absolute wonderful time. The place was absolutely perfect. My Husband actually had a work conference at the Coeur d’Alene resort Hotel but we were still able to go for walks and just enjoy the peaceful cabin. The place had everything you could think of to enjoy our time plus more. We will definitely will book here again. Absolute 5 STARS …

We had a fantastic time, the view was beautiful, the little bungalow had everything you needed. Everything you could want to enjoy the beauty of Lake CDA was provided. We enjoyed, riding bikes, playing ping pong, paddle boarding and sitting by the fire as the sun set on the lake

This place was great and had everything our group needed to have a wonderful weekend in CDA. The cabin and bunk house were clean and well stocked. We took advantage of the outdoor space and enjoyed the firepit, hot tub, and ping pong table. We definitely want to return in the warmer months to utilize the bikes and water activities!

My husband and I stayed here for a nice romantic weekend. The weather was absolutely miserable in the “polar vortex” but the cabin was a delight. It was perfect for the two of us and our dogs. The area is super quiet and overall fairly remote as there weren’t many other houses around. It was the perfect weekend away from home!

Our stay was awesome. The cabin is so well appointed and outfitted. Directions to get there were easy to follow and the lake is right there with all the toys you could want to play in the water.

We went to CDA to participate in the CDA Half Marathon. The lake side cabin was an awesome bonus! The lake was beautiful, so many amenities for us to do while there right at the cabin. There were some great thoughts put into almost everything there.

Our large family of 10 had the perfect lake experience. The highlights of our stay were the amenities at the lake (especially the trampoline & floating mat), the campfire location & outdoor games, and the bonus bunk house (great for older kids). The cabins were clean, the water was hot, and the hottub was a great place to soak during sunset. Our host was amazing by answering all of our questions quickly and helping us setup boat & jet ski rentals. The location is minutes from downtown and super convenient to make a day trip to Silverwood. We highly recommend this property to any family looking for a fun lake-cation.

Lovely comfy accommodations, and everything you could possible imagine to fill your days and nights with fun.

Rustic and awesome
The lake flooded, so beach toys and dock were unavailable and the weather was cool, rainy and windy at times. Despite Mother Nature's wrath, we had a good time, enjoyed the fire pit and the hot tub!

Beautiful and a sweet stay at a charming cabin!
We loved our stay at this lovely cabin! So many things to do! The owners have thought of everything to make a stay there fun. We enjoyed the jacuzzi every night, we relaxed on the porch, played frisbee, and relaxed by the lake. The cabin is small but for a couple and 2 small dogs it was perfect for us. We plan on returning!

The cabin was just as advertised. All the amenities you could want in a cabin setting. It’s close enough to civilization but still private. We will definitely be back.

Great cabin in a great location
We rented the cabin and the house boat and loved it. What a great place for a family reunion. We spent so much time paddle boarding, kayaking and jumping on the water trampoline. Amazing place!
5.0
The property was just as described. We had a great time playing on the lake, riding the bikes that were provided and playing games. Brian has included everything a family would need to enjoy time away together.
There was another family renting the boat on the lake, but that didn’t impact our stay at all, there are plenty of paddle boards, etc for all to enjoy.
The only things to consider would be the stairs down to the lake. We had no issues, but they could be a challenge for those with mobility issues.
The kitchen worked fine for us & we were a large party. That being said, there isn’t a lot of counter space for cooking & preparing if that is important.
Overall, this place was awesome & we would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at Eagle Outpost! I had a group of 14 people and it worked well for 12 of us to sleep inside with most sharing beds and a couple on air mattresses, and a couple people sleeping in a camper van. Loved all the facilities available to us (beach via a short trail, lake toys like SUPs and a canoe, hot tub, fire pit). Brian had great communication. I highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Coeur d'Alene, especially if you want to be on the lake.

The A-frame was decorated amazingly. There were two futons downstairs along with a bed upstairs. Next to the Spa was a bunk house with room for 6 more to sleep. This layout worked perfectly as we had two families in our group and we each took a spot.
The closeness to Lake Coeur D'Alene really separates this property from others. We crossed the street and down some stairs and we had a private beach to play. There was a water trampoline and plenty of water toys (kayaks, SUP, etc) to keep us occupied.
We will be back sooner rather than later!

Great time!
My family had a wonderful time during our stay! Brian has thought of everything. The cabin is woodsy and charming. There is a bit of a trek down to the beach but once you are down there it is perfect! We loved that this property did not have any neighbors and was pretty secluded. Staying at Lake CDA is one of our favorite things to do in the summer and we would definitely book Eagle Outpost again!
