Excellent host, very clean cottage. Though a bit out of the way, we really liked the privacy.
The only con was the mosquitos. They were relentless and we were unable to enjoy being outside of the cottage some nights.

This well appointed home was an amazing place for our family to spend a week in PEI. The sunsets were gorgeous and we woke up to the seals enjoying the waves. We would definitely recommend this as a wonderful PEI home base.

What a great place to stay. The only guy who enjoyed the house more than we did was our dog. Swimming and running on the beach left him smiling ear to ear every morning. I would highly suggest staying here.

This house is clean and quiet with an amazing view and even more stunning sunsets. The house was our “home base” as we explored the island all week. We had a wonderful week doing many different things and enjoying dinners out. Thank you so much for the use of your beautiful home! A note for renters, bring bug spray because the mosquitos are relentless!

Good price and good size beach house for the whole family. It has all necessary equipment for the stay. Location is a bit far from all main beaches / activities. Just to be aware of the area with respect to activities you would be planning to do.

The house was PERFECT. Everything was exactly like it was presented in the listing. We had a party of 5 - myself, my husband, two 13 year old girls, my mother (who is a former Islander) and our chocolate lab (Remy). Our reservation was from Saturday-Saturday. We arrived late on Saturday (unfortunately) but as soon as we got there we felt at home. Luckily we had amazing weather which allowed us to be outside most of the time. The pesty mosquito's did drive us inside at night.
The kitchen was well stocked. The bathroom and beds were nice. The basement was great for the kids as well as the washing machine/dryer that we utilized. We had several seafood dinners at home and the house had everrything we could need.
The outside was amazing. From the wonderful long driveway to the amazing waterfront. We kayaked 4 out of the 7 days we were there. Even my 81 year old mother tried kayaking for the first time.
But as much as we loved it, Remy loved it the most. The freedom to run around and play in the water was perfect for him and our family.
We didn't have to reach out to Mary but knew she would be available if we needed her. The next door neighbor was wonderful and she hit it off with my mom :-)
I would say the only thing people should keep in mind is that you are 40 minutes from Charlottetown and 30+ minutes to the next big town. There isn't much in between which is only really annoying to the kids, lol.
We can't wait for our return next year.

Alexander Beach House is a perfect place to base out of if you want to see the sights of central and eastern PEI but come home to rest in quiet and beauty. There is a great yard down to the water for playing with the dog (just be sure to bring lots of bug spray or the mosquitos will eat you alive). The canoe, kayaks and life vests were a good option to visit the sand bar. We had awesome weather for the week, so we didn't need the ping pong table or games, but the heat pump system was handy and easy to use on our one cold night... if note, the bed was very comfortable, with delightful quilts and sheets, and good towels too! If you are looking for a nice walk from the cottage, High Road was a beautiful option for a fall walk - exactly what I was looking for! The neighbour was great (very friendly and informative - and not afraid of dogs!). Mary was quick to answer questions as needed. Oh, and it was always interesting to track the cruise ships passing by in the Strait, lit up like Christmas trees in the dark and then viewable in Charlottetown. The house had everything we needed. Very happy with our choice!

This was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. Quiet peaceful and oh so beautiful. Everything we needed was there and our family of six slept comfortably and our dog loved the beach so much. The sandbars are outstanding and we saw so many seals. This is a piece of heaven

The cottage was clean, fully equipped with cooking utensils and the beds were comfortable.
There were two main drawbacks:
1. The mosquitoes were relentless. We were unable to play games on the yard, sit on the beach or sit on the deck form much of the time.
2.
The open glass on the water side made it ultra bright inside during the morning and afternoon.

Beautiful large chalet, located by the sea. The children enjoyed the table tennis games and everyone loved going to see the seals in a kayak. The place is quiet, clean and welcoming.

This property was absolutely amazing and exactly what our family needed. The kids loved walking along the shoreline looking for shells, we were close enough to attractions like the beach and a national park that we could do a couple day trips, and the place was very clean. Mary was responsive to our questions and we couldn't have had a better time.
Thank you!

Absolutely loved this place! Its location is just beautiful, so quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed canoeing, and hunting for sea shells. Watched some seals playing in the water. Would definitely recommend! This is a wonderful place to make memories :)

BEWARE! We had a horrible experience with Mary Alexander and VRBO. We had made an 8 night reservation for Alexander’s Beach House starting on September 23. On Day 1 of our vacation, Hurricane Fiona struck PEI. A couple of days prior to our stay, I contacted Mary. She was not willing to offer us alternative dates and did not think that the storm would be significant. We agreed to wait until after the storm and use the house for the remainder of the week if the property was accessible and the house had electricity. This did not happen as there was widespread damage to the island. After the storm passed, Mary “ghosted” me. She never returned my calls or messages (through VRBO). VRBO had paid Mary, despite the fact that her property was uninhabitable and authorities were advising people to stay away. I contacted VRBO several times during the following week - they left me on hold for hours and lied to me about their actions. I will never use VRBO again and I am so disappointed with Mary.

This was our second stay at Mary’s cottage and just as we remembered it to be…..perfect.
Right on the water and the sunsets were breath taking.
We are hoping that hurricane Fiona doesn’t damage the cottage so we can come again, stay safe Mary.

Beautiful view of the water, wildlife and sunsets. The rural setting was perfect for us and our dog. We stayed for 2 weeks and the home was very comfortable; well equipped with everything we needed and more. We were riding distance to the Confederation bike trail which was a nice surprise and lunch at The Chowder House is a must.
Mary is a wonderful host; friendly and helpful.

Very easy all around, from booking to payments to check in to check out. Great location that is very private with truly amazing sunsets! Relatively close to all amenities, golf etc. WiFi worked well, and television choices were great! BBQ and all appliances were fantastic and made for an enjoyable and relaxing stay! Highly recommend it as a beautiful home base for your PEI adventures!

Alexander's place was everything the listing said and more! Beautiful cottage, stunning location, every detail was thought of. Loved kayaking with the seals on the other side of the peninsula, watching the sunsets and reading on the deck. Very private and peaceful. The ping pong table in the basement was also a really nice bonus. Everything we could have asked for and more!

All good, property and sunsets were superior. Bugs got bad at dusk.

The cottage was very lovely with a stunning view of the cove and ocean. The cottage’s setup was perfect for our family of 5 with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The cottage stayed cool with air conditioning and well positioned blinds. We enjoyed the privacy of the property and were only visited by mosquitoes and black flies! We enjoyed canoeing and kayaking and searching for shells and beach treasures on the peninsula. It was a very perfect cottage for our two weeks in PEI.

It was an amazing time had by my entire family. The house was beautiful. The views amazing. Everything we hoped for in our first time rental in P.EI. and more.

Felt like home, I would want to buy this property
Everything was perfect, as expected, so we felt at home. Spectacular views, walked the beach many times a day. Picked wild oysters for snacking, they're plentiful. Watched the eagles hunt and the seals in the waters/ beach across the bay. Lots of space for our dachshunds to run. Great location for short drives to town and many other destinations, like Cavendish, Rustico, Montague. I love taking the longer roads to our destination to explore the countryside. Making plans to return as soon as possible. Perfect getaway.

Great spot, beautiful view, out of the way (but beware of mosquitos)
Property was extremely clean and well kept, exactly as advertised in pictures. Beautiful view of the water, and great out of the way location in PEI. As other reviewers have stated, you're never too far away from anything in PEI but it has everything you need to be comfortable so you may just want to stay in! We had 5 adults and a 3y/o child staying and it was still spacious and comfortable. Bring some food or stop at Coopers a 5min drive away at the Shell station as they have everything you'll need there. Great restaurants within 20ish mins driving too if you want to eat out. I'll do my best to return sometime - I bet it's beautiful in the winter too! The mosquitos can be quite bad depending on the time of year and how the wind is blowing, but if you stay out of the grass they generally leave you alone. Bring bug spray!

Me and the seals
Across the shallow salt bay, my friends the seals cavorted, swam, fished, and just generally lounged on the outer beach. I worked hard. I lifted my heavy kayak over the inner beach, seeking out the ideal launch point between the shore reeds. Eventually, gliding silently over the sea bottom carpeted with tiny, excited crabs, I stealthily aimed my craft to the far shore .... (to be continued).

Alexander’s Beach House is incredible
This was our second trip to Alexander’s Beach House & it won’t be our last. The place is incredible. Amazing view, lots of wildlife (eagles, hawks, herons etc), no light pollution so the night sky is unbelievable. Close to lots of great places - Point Prim Lighthouse, Broken Rock fossil shop, lots of beaches, remote but close enough to Charlottetown in case you want to mix things up and head to the city for a meal or visit the Art Gallery etc. It’s also really close to the ferry (15 mins tops) so once you’re on the Island it’s a quick drive if you arrive at Wood Islands. It’s a really amazing place - highly recommend staying here.

Stunning location , house is perfect with all the amenities you need.
I loved this property for our family holiday. We had 5 of us and more than enough room in the house. The yard is amazing , the sunsets with wine on deck was my favourite . Kids loved the ping pong table downstairs and the other games that came with the house . Mary was wonderful at all times with any questions and quick response. I would highly recommend this property. Approx 45 min or so from Charlottetown. The drive is lovely and some great little places to still eat nearby .

Simply incredible - amazing view of the ocean, wonderful home, huge lawn, fire pit, canoe & kayaks, close to a lighthouse older than Canada, blue herons, hawks, eagles... the list goes on. Can’t wait to go back!

Wonderful beach house
We had a lovely stay. The cottage was spotless and stocked with all the essentials (tiny kitchen - but worked). Views were absolutely amazing and sunsets outstanding. Kids loved the Little beach and the canoe. Nice paddle out to the sand bar and warm water to swim. Basement is great for a rainy day with the ping pong table. We would happily return!

Restful week by the ocean
This is a perfect vacation choice for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. The cottage is situated between the ocean and farmland, with a large grassy lawn sloping down to the water. We made good use of the kayaks and canoe, going out several times a day. The water is sheltered by a long sandbar and it is an easy paddle out to the sandbar for birdwatching or swimming. The cottage is an easy drive to Charlottetown, Montague, and the north coast but it is so well-equipped and comfortable, you may not want to venture too far away!

Quiet peace of Heaven
Beautiful beach house, with all amenities (plus more...i.e., ping pong, and other games downstairs for a rainy day). Enjoyed the kayaks on the peaceful inlet and the sandy beach on the big sand bar. A/C was wonderful on the hot days and we never slept so well at night...listening to the waves of the ocean lapping onshore. Very relaxing week that ended too soon. Property Manager, Mary was very helpful.

Peaceful and beautiful
Cozy, clean home with amazing views. We had the beach all to ourselves, which our dog loved. This is a great place to stay on PEI...even in a snowstorm.

Amazing Waterfront View
Loved the waterfront views and sunsets. Enjoyed waking up to the view from the upstairs loft bedroom. Cottage was clean and well appointed. No complaints about the property itself. Unfortunately the mosquitos were relentless the week that we were there which prevented us from taking advantage of using the kayaks and fire pit. Great location only 30 mins to Charlottetown and great location for exploring the eastern side of the island. Highly recommend the beach at Panmure Island.
