About this apartment rental
"Kuku's Nest" is a beautiful tropical home not just another rental. This condo is a large, remodeled, one bedroom accommodating two guests, ground floor unit, with full kitchen, luxury vinyl and tile floors, stainless appliances, fresh tropical colors, granite counters, new furnishings, two flat screen smart TVs, California king bed, sofa, and free wifi. The condo has a beautiful new tile and stone shower. Other upgrades include doors throughout, kitchen cabinetry, flooring, furnishings and installation of a full size range. This cottage includes an actual dining area, rather than the bar seating common to other units in the complex. With the ceiling fans and coastal breezes, the air conditioning is rarely needed. Enjoy your morning coffee watching the sunrise on the lanai accessed from the living and bedroom. The lanais overlook a coconut grove tropical garden, and one of three property pools.
Plantation Hale consistently brings in great reviews for one of the best places on the island to stay. Property amenities include whirlpool spas, barbecues, clean convenient laundry facilities, and open air lobby . Kuku’s Nest is in the “H” building, near a short walking path, through a field, to tranquil Waipouli Beach. Accessible parking is located right outside the condo cottage and the ground floor location makes this cottage convenient for those with walking or mobility limitations.
Kuku's Nest is nestled in the home of Ancient Hawaiian Royalty. Located in Wailua on Kauai’s Coconut Coast it is a short walk to many area beaches, shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The newly completed coastal walking / biking path provides the opportunity to keep your vehicle parked, or within a 5 minute drive you can kayak or stand-up paddle the Wailua River, hike Sleeping Giant, visit several of the island’s best waterfalls, enjoy a luau & gardens, snorkel or swim at Lydgate's tide pools, and much more. Wailua is half way between the jungles of the North Shore and the nearly always sunny Southern Coast making a perfect base for exploring.
WHY CHOOSE THIS PROPERTY:
The Coconut Coast has always been what we consider the best place on the island to serve as a home away from home. It is half way from the North and South shores, and has a good combination of local 'real Hawaiian' life as well as vacation 'destination spots'. Kapaa Town is our favorite area for shopping , restaurants, walking and biking. It has the convenience of having grocery stores, farmer's market, banks and a post office in the immediate area The complex sits along the ocean (Makai) side of the road and is an easy walk to the Coconut Marketplace, restaurants (Hukilau Lanai, Sleeping Giant Grill, Chicken in a Barrel Barbecue, Lava Lava Beach Club) as well as grocery stores, two coffee shops (yes, including Starbucks), and many activities. These units always get great reviews from travelers and we have been very impressed with the management and maintenance staff.

...The condo was central to all the things we wanted to do in Kauai and just made traveling around the island so easy. We had our two boys ages 5 and 3 with us, and we all fit comfortably in the condo....

...The condo was clean and had boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, beach towels and beach chairs....Staff at Plantation Hale are very friendly, always busy with maintenance, cleaning, and keeping the grounds spotless. We usually ate breakfast and BBQ'd supper at the condo and ate lunch at restaurants so this saved us lots of money...

We spent nine nights here and it was just what we needed for our stay in Kauai. There were boogie boards, snorkel gear, towels, a fully equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the nearby hot tub the day we were flying out. It was all very comfortable and convent. Nice central location for getting anywhere on the island. Mahalo

Was really pleased with the condo, especially since I had friends staying in the neighboring unit, who's unit were much more basic than Kuku's Nest. Really enjoyed the access to the pool from the back yard and the other pools weren't far away either. Parking was a breeze and I usually walked to other friends staying in neighboring properties...

My husband and I spent. a week here and we just wish we could have stayed longer. The condo was very well-stocked and had everything we needed from cookware to snorkels. As first timers in Kauai, its central location was especially nice, since it was easy for us to travel all over the island (and we did!)...

just spent 12 nights in this Condo and it was the best of the six different condos I have stayed in on the East-side. It had everything you needed to feel at home and the staff were all friendly and helpful and I would recommend this place to anyone who is reading this. The location is perfect and is walking distance to many places to eat and buy groceries which was great. This will be the first place I will try to book the next time I come back to Kauai.

We had a great month in Kuku's Nest. Condo had everything you need, beach chairs, boogie board and fins, beach towels- place was clean on arrival, check-in was easy. We used the BBQ's lots over the month to save on food costs. There is road noise during the day but it is not that bad...

Kuku's nest was the best place for our family to live on our week's vacation to kauai! Clean, comfy, great location...

Kuku’s Nest was a perfect home away from home for us. Everything we needed was provided including beach towels and a soft sided cooler to take to the beach! Folding chairs were available too, but we never used those. All was clean and ready for us early, which we very much appreciated. Paper goods, spices, coffee, bottled water and some canned drinks were already there, so we didn’t need to shop for much at all. The king bed with a memory foam mattress was very comfortable and the bedroom had both a TV and Alexa speaker. Plenty of good hangers in the closet along with a drying rack and clothes hampers to use for washing clothes. The washers and dryers, located on the same floor, were small but we found that the clothes baskets were the exact size for a load of laundry.
The Plantation Hale location was just right, providing easy access to both the North and South shores. In addition, the Coconut Marketplace with food/drink and souvenir shops, were only a 10-minute walk down a private road. Lydgate beach park is the closest beach, about a 10-minute drive from the condo, with 2 pools created by a barrier of volcanic rock. Inside the pools you could see many different types of fish as well as see the black crabs on the rocks.
There is a beach directly across the road, through a field with a paved path to walk on. While it’s a pretty beach, the rocks and rough surf would make it dangerous to do more than just get your feet wet.
If you’re thinking about booking this location, do it

Very comfortable condo in an extremely convenient location. Excellent communication with owners. The unit itself was very quiet, but keep in mind that there's a busy road nearby, so there is road noise while sitting on the lanai during the day.
We walked to Lavalava one evening for a very nice meal. Easy walk to Coconut Mall and Long's Drug Store, Safeway is a 5 minute drive away (or less). The building apparently has laundry facilities, but it seemed a bit complicated with buying a card, etc., so we just used an excellent laundromat, also a 5 minute drive away, since we only had 1 load of laundry to do. The reception area is helpful and we were able to leave our luggage there the day we changed lodging. That would be helpful too for late flights.

I had a wonderful relaxing vacation.Really nice unit close to the pool. Did not swim at the nearby beach (thank you for the heads up) as it is dangerous due to lava rock.It is great for watching the waves and reading.I cook when I go on vacation, but not this time.I enjoyed a few breakfasts to the north at Walpoli restaurant and my dinners were great at the Coconut Market shops. Also tried Chicken in a Barrel.Longs drug store great for snacks and even wine & liquor.Enjoyed Hawaiian wine all week.I want to thank my hosts for excellent communication. They even provided me with good information pertaining to my swim attire at the pool. I am a life long swimmer and I wear "thong" style mens suits
I had no problems at the pool and even got a compliment from 4 young ladies that liked my outfit.I am so happy with my nearly total tan.Hope to return someday as the fight is so long to/from Phoenix and then to Philadelphia

Great location with a short walk to the beaches, shopping and restaurants. A few confusing issues when first checked were quickly resolved by host. Be aware there is no dishwasher and pay washer/dryer are just down the hall. Condo is well furnished with no real issues with appliances, furniture, bathroom, etc. Definitely recommended.

We were very satisfied with our stay at Plantation Hale. We had a beach right across the street where we could walk in the mornings. We could walk to Coconut Grove for dinner or a little shopping or to Long Drugs. There was a pool so close to our location and we never had trouble finding a place to park. The condo itself was pretty much as described. I would have liked to have had a few extra towels, but we made do and appreciated the helpfulness and friendliness of all those we met and the cleanliness of the condo.

The place was exactly as described and very centrally located. We enjoyed watching the sunrises (short walk) and the place felt extremely safe/inviting.

Clean and comfortable. Bed was also comfy. Close to restaurants and shopping and centrally located on the island. The only downsides were extremely noisy neighbors that felt it acceptable to let a baby and small children scream in the outside hallway late into the night all the nights during our stay. They had a celebration one night that seemed to go on well into the wee hours where adults were cackling along with the screaming children in the echoing hallway.

We enjoyed our stay in Kauai! Our place was very clean, in a great location and was perfect for the two of us. It was well stocked with everything we needed. The kitchen was great for cooking and the grilling area was only 20 yards from our place. The Coconut Marletplace had a grocery store and there were lots of shops around. The ocean was about 1/4 mile walk from our place. Terri and Tom were great hostesses and we would go back to rheir place again!

The property was very easy to get to from the airport and a great central location-not too out of the way when exploring the island. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We ended up cooking quite a bit and it was nice to have what we needed. There was even an insulated bag and bug spray left in the cupboard. They have furnished it very comfortably and we would absolutely stay here again. I was concerned we would hear noise above us since this is on the ground floor but we didn't notice any. It was our first time to Kauai and I was not sure which part of the island to stay on but after exploring all the areas I would choose to stay on the east side again. You can't beat the location and the short walk to the beach was really nice. It wasn't a swimmable beach but it was lovely to sit on the beach and listen to the crashing waves. Lydgate Park was a short drive and very convenient when we wanted to get in the water. The a/c was also a game changer. It made the room very comfortable to sleep in. You won't be disappointed if you stay here-it was wonderful!

We chose to stay here and it did not disappoint. The listing was on point, close to a shopping market, grocery store and beautiful beaches. Easy checkin, great communication with owners, no issues with anything. Basic amenities provided but that is stated in the listing. Has everything you need to make yourself at home. Just finished our stay in Kauai, the apartment was very clean and perfect for our needs. Location is nice for travelling around the island by car. Not too much light inside in the afternoon but was nice to have the apartment cool in the evening.
Would happily come back!

This is a very nice condo. Everything is nicely appointed. They have thought of almost everyting a person needs. Only exception would be a dish drainer/dryer for the kitchen sink and a beach umbrella would have been nice. The location is very good. In between north and south shore. Will definitely book again in the future.Thank you:)

What a cozy spot halfway between Princeton and Poipu. Spot on cleanliness and 100 steps or less to the beach and a beautiful sunrise. Conveniently located to groceries, shopping, and a kayaking, waterfall excursion. My husband gave me snorkeling lessons in the nearby pool and the sound of the rain was sleep weather magic. Laundry is onsite and recommend you put $15 in your Wash Connect App. Eat breakfast at the condo and pack sandwiches for your adventures. Do a luau and two dinners for a 7 night stay and you’re set for food. All the conveniences in the condo. Owners are sweet. Lovely.

Great condo. Very clean, very well stocked. Easy communication with owner. Check in was not good. But, not the fault of property owner. We did not get in the condo till the next day at 10am (key would not work). We most definitely would rebook if the property becomes available for our times requested.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the cleverly themed and decorated Kuku’s nest! Tom and Terri were communicative and accommodating hosts! They provided plenty of bath towels, laundry detergent, books and DVDs. They also had 2 beach chairs and some other beach equipment for your use. The beach is a short walk away and the pool is right outside your back door.
10.0 / 10.0
The joy of our stay in Kauai, was due in part to the great central location of our lodging which made visits to the North and South take less time than if we were staying in Poipu or Princeville. Our favorite beaches on Kauai are in Hanalai and Kakaha so it worked for us.
Two things we loved about the condo were the fun tropical decor and being on the ground floor so we could walk right out our living room door to the pool. The room was super clean and the Terri and Tom were great hosts.

Everything you could want was supplied. This property was close to the airport and the south shore which is where we spend most of our time. We would highly recommend this place and the owners were very helpful with info. Will definitely stay here again!

The patio door was a little tricky. Used the outdoor grill--nice! And the hot tub(s) were a great way to end a long day. No dishwasher, but we washed by hand. Comfy bed! Cute place!!

We really enjoyed this ground floor condo in Kapaa! It’s close to the ocean & centrally located on the east coast, making it easy to explore both the north & south of the island. The condo is clean, very nicely decorated in Hawaiian decor & the hosts really go the extra mile to provide everything you might need for a great stay ( wonderful kitchen utensils for making meals or snacks, & items you might have forgotten). The bed is extremely comfortable, plenty of pillows, towels, clothes hangers, etc. It’s not large but is efficiently put together. We loved coming home to a nice shower & comfortable place the 8 days we were here! The hosts, Tom & Terri, are also good communicators & easy to work with. Highly recommend!

Great spot
Condo was clean, well located between 2 ends of island. Kitchen was well appointed. We’d go back tomorrow, and will stay here again. Went for hikes up Sleeping Giant nearby, drove to waterfalls, snorkeled on nearby beaches, drove up to Waimea Canyon. Condo is walking to groceries, several hotel restaurants, and a Longs drugs. Hosts were great to work with!

Great location for adventures
A clean, cozy nook with a full kitchen was perfect for our stay! Great value, and close to several local restaurants and hikes. (Recommend hiking Sleeping Giant followed by Al Pastor taco truck!)
Hot tubs are a hot commodity and laundry is coin op. Double check with staff before doing laundry; it's app based and finicky. Minimum price I saw to add funds for the app was 10 dollars! The location is also a little close to the highway, so you can always hear traffic. Those are really the only small gripes though.
Mahalo to Tom and Terri for the little touches here that made our beach going days even more laid back, with snorkel gear and lounge chairs available. We look forward to the next time coming to Kauai and will happily return to the Kuku's Nest.
