It has a large sofa and wicker chairs. The main bedroom has a queen bed, sliding doors to the deck and view down the lake The second bedroom has a full bed with a view of the lake and dock. The third bedroom has two twins. There is a small well equipped kitchen area and one large bathroom with a washer/dryer.

This was our family’s second time staying at this house, and we plan to return again. The house is in an ideal location! It’s on a little island in Long Pond. The house is beautiful and well maintained, and Diana is very responsive and helpful in addressing any questions and offering information and suggestions for the area. There’s a beautiful deck, and the house has its own dock on the lake. I highly recommend staying there!

This hideaway is down a long dirt road and once you get there you find a beautiful home in a peaceful setting. We hope to return!

So quiet!!! The house is at the SW end of an island, with no traffic noise nor nearby neighbours. The owner's house is adjacent but distant enough to enable privacy. The dock was great, and completely private other than passing canoeists. The pond was warm enough to swim (late June). The house is new and in good shape. The kitchen diner lounge room is snug, with limited storage options for groceries. The best place we have stayed in Mt Desert Island.

This is a charming, immaculate house on a magical spot on Long Pond. The host, Diana, was perfect and accommodating. We can't wait to go back!

Incredible property and beautiful home with a spectacular view! Such a special property with an amazing history, and Diana, the host, was absolutely lovely and welcoming. She made our family of 4, 2 adults, 2 children ages 12 and 9, feel right at home. The home was bright, clean, comfortable, beautiful indoors and out, and had everything we needed for our week exploring Acadia. The kitchen area was stocked with everything to easily prep and cook all our meals, and the home also had a full-size washer and dryer that worked perfectly. Our family is looking forward to coming again soon for another visit! Thank you Diana for sharing your stunning home!

My wife and I went to Acadia to hike and bike for 5 days. This is a beautiful home on a beautiful, quiet lake, convenient to all activities on the island. We had a wonderful time!

The listing description accurate. Cottage is in quiet woods with direct water access. There’s a small dock for kayak or canoe if you rent or bring your own. Kitchen is well appointed as are the bedrooms and bathroom. Common area is small but comfortable for three people. Not in the description is that you must bring your own water for drinking but the tap water is fine for cooking and bathing. Saw stars at night as well as an asylum of loons right off of the dock. Quite peaceful there. Slightly far from anywhere you may want to go but not horrible. I was content to stay put and swim with my dog : )

The home was great. The lake was amazing. Acadia park and Bar Harbor is approximately a 25 minute drive. The entire family had an amazing time. Would definitely stay here again.

This charming well appointed little house has wrap-around views of Long Pond through the trees and lots of natural light. The loon calls and breezes add to the joy.
Diana is a responsive and responsible host. It was a true pleasure to stay there.

This is a small, bright and cheerful house overlooking Long Pond. A wood chip path leads down to a dock overlooking a pristine and extremely private portion of the lake. To say this is a good spot is an understatement--the location is incredible, at the end of a peninsula and surrounded by acres of woods. Our three kids (aged 13 and 10-year-old twins) swam every day in the warm water before and after all the many activities we did. Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor are a short drive away and there's so much to do in every direction.
One thing that's not clear from the ad is that the owner's own house is set not too far away from the rental property. (She happened to be away during our stay.) That house has its own dock and is set far enough away so that it's still a private house rental, but just know that you're not entirely alone.
I've stayed on Long Pond before and I think this is a special house and amazing for families. Highest marks.

This lake house was great!! We had our family of 4 - My son, 21, and daughter ,19, and we all fit comfortably with own space & had everything we needed. We went May 17th-21st & were looking forward to kayaking on the lake & just made it in time for opening season!! That was a close one, we didn't think about on/off season but fortunately our first day there was opening day - for most of Bar Harbor too. The Kayak place down the street was So accommodating and friendly and we were able to Kayak right up to the dock in the back of the house. So much fun!! Location was perfect! You're literally right in the middle of Acadia! Cadillac mountain, Bar Harbor, restaurants, bars and gift shops are all close by- within 20 minutes!! The 4 of us got up early for sunrise at Cadillac Mountain & it was a Amazing! Can't wait to go back!!

Snaps to Diana and the opportunity to stay in this beautiful contemporary VRBO. The property is off the beaten path in a beautiful setting with all the amenities one could possibly need. Diana provided information prior to to our arrival that was extremely helpful. Thanks to her email we reserved times to go to Cadillac Mountain, lunch at Jordan Pond, and a nice anniversary dinner in Bar Harbor. She truly goes above and beyond what I have experienced with other hosts. We enjoyed our Fall visit so much we hope to reserve a week in the Summer to go kayaking, swimming, biking etc. Mt. Desert is truly a magical place!

We arrived well after dark, exhausted, and got settled. The next morning we awoke up to a glassy lake with male and female loons out front making their indescribable call. This was the dream beginning for me. Serenity defined. The house/cottage/cabin is a very modern construction with large picture windows and sliders, and with a great deck. Amenities such as shower and washer/dryer were better than at home! The area was lovely with fall colors at their peak. Communications with then owner were great. Recommend!

Very cute place right on the water! Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young children) enjoyed our stay here and it had everything we needed. There were some little things we had to figure out but overall it was great. Beautiful area, and about 25 minutes to everything. Also really close to Beech Mountain hike which is part of Acadia!

What can I say? A beautiful location, kayaking in the morning, dips in the lake, stargazing in the evening, and all that Mount Desert Island has to offer. Wish I was back there!

This is a great property. Down a long and windy camp road, you are situated up on a bluff overlooking Long Pond. There is a great wraparound deck that gives you views down to the Pond through the trees.
We spent time swimming off the private dock and exploring Long Pond via easy kayak rentals (at the head of the Pond). Long Pond is very warm and inviting, and we were utterly surprised that a lake like this exists on MDI (we’ve been to Sebago, Schoodic etc..). Long Pond is seriously amazing!
For the days we visited Acadia, Bar Harbor and Northeast harbor, it was an easy and beautiful journey that never took more than 20mins.
I would highly recommend this rental for romantic getaways and/or a small family. Diana is very communicative and helpful if you need anything.

This lovely home was the perfect setting for a memorable week in ME. Tucked away in the trees, but not far fr the water’s edge- it couldn’t be more peaceful. An easy drive to Acadia and into Bar Harbor for activity, but a quiet peaceful place to return to at the end of the day. Absolutely loved it.

Terrific Vacation on Long Neck Pond
My husband and I (and two French Bulldogs) had such a nice stay at the house in mid-June. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, and the view of the lake was amazing, especially with the very open design and lots of windows. We made full use of access to the water, fishing and kayaking as much as we could. The location is perfect if you want to be away from the more touristy areas of the island, but still want a location that's an easy 15-25 minute drive to various activities. We also really enjoyed nearby Southwest Harbor. The one thing to note is the kitchenette is quite small, so be prepared for some "creativity" in preparing meals, but other than that it was all good for us in the cottage. Diana was terrific with communication, all directions were spot on, and she was available if needed.

Perfect MDI Retreat
We had a delightful experience. The house was in a gorgeous setting and had all the amenities we needed. We rented kayaks for the week and enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. The location is private but also convenient to both sides of MDI. Diana was friendly and helpful. The property exceeded our expectations in every way!

A unique experience
We had a fun and relaxing experience at Windiana, and highly recommend it.
The property is very quiet and the lakefront views were unique. We rented kayaks for the week and went paddling in the mornings and evenings. The lake is picturesque, clear, with many birds and a mountainside background.
We had 3 adults and a dog, and we were comfortable in the house. We used the grill, and cooked several times, and the kitchen was sufficient. The location was convenient, and we could drive to most places (Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Acadia) in about 20 minutes.
The house is on a gravel road on several acres at the end of Northern Neck, and just walking the dog was an enjoyable experience with nature.
Diana was very helpful, answering any questions we had promptly. We would definitely rent this house again.

Your perfect private slice of Acadia, enjoying the outdoors from a luxurious cabin
My husband and I truly enjoyed our week at Windiana III . We loved spending time on the dock, taking in the scenery (especially in the morning) on the spacious deck overlooking the lake, and watching the early morning (or setting) sun, and evaporating fog on the water. In the late afternoon we were mesmerized by the calls of the Loon's over the water.
The cabin is bright, with a 180 degree view over the lake, it has a tasteful lake side décor, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen has all the utilizes one would need or want. (including a washer and dryer)The living room has enough space to accommodate 5 guests comfortably and I can imagine how the large deck acts as a second living space from Spring to Fall. (even with the cooler Fall weather we very much enjoyed some reading, while seated in the nice Adirondack chairs outside, hearing only the wind through the leaves.
Although Windiana's location is private, peaceful and quiet, it is only a short drive away from Southwest Harbor, and about a 20-25 minute enjoyable drive away from the middle of Acadia and Bar Harbor.
Since our son and his girlfriend could not make it in the end, it was only the two of us, but the cabin would have easily accommodated a party 4 adults, or a family with three children. We are looking forward to return to this beautiful place as soon as we have a chance to do so.
Last but not least, Diana was welcoming, responsive and helpful, and easy to 'work' with.

Lovely house and setting; Wheelchair accessible
We especially appreciated the ramp and roll- in shower. The house, although small, is well appointed, has a lovely wrap-around deck, and met our needs. Beds were very comfortable. Diana was available for questions and conversation.

Great location for hiking and sightseeing. Kayaked every day from the dock and listened to the loons from the deck overlooking the lake. Diana was helpful and accommodating to us and our dogs!

Stunning Location
We loved our week here. The view from the dock is amazing with the mountains beyond and the fog pulling off of the trees in the morning. Swam and fished right off the dock. Right in the heart of the Island! Short drive to Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor. Great way to see the island!

Lakeside retreat
We had beautiful weather and a beautiful time at Windiana. The dock was perfect for all our watercraft and the quiet calm mornings were great times to explore the Acadian park shores and islands. The home is situated on the quietside with lots of hiking, biking and paddling places to enjoy. Bat Harbor is a short 25 minute ride away, to enjoy the town and it’s’ offerings. Visit in the summer of 2020 when Acadia is quieter than ever and you feel like you have the national Park to yourself. Diana was a lovely host, with all the needed equipment in her tastefully decorated home. We hope to come back again soon!

Wonderful, clean, comfortable and beautiful inside and out
Property has all the comforts of home in a retreat like atmosphere. It’s surround by Mt Desert woods and almost 360 degrees views of Long Pond. Small kitchen but it has everything anyone would ever need. Canoe rental easy access. We rented a canoe for a week. So nice to have it out at our private dock each morning. Sunsets are amazing. Beds are comfortable. Direct TV with large tv in living ( not that we ever turned it on). Loons and other wildlife with pleasant wilderness sounds fill the peacefulness of the property. I felt like I was on a retreat!!
That being all said. There are great harbors and towns minutes away that are full of great dinning and art work. Also Acadia National Forest is just as close. So hiking and biking that area is also amazing.
Diana, the owner was easy to work with and easy to communicate with. She has a beautiful wonderful vacation home that she has taken awesome care of.

The site is beautiful and can't be beat.
Windiana is on a very pretty and secluded spot on Long Pond. The house is quite nice and well maintained, and the owner very helpful. Note no fires or fireplaces, so if you're looking for a cozy fire in the evening it's not here.

Quintessential Maine
Northern Neck, on Long Pond, is a well maintained community that shows much pride of ownership. The Windiana property is quintessential Maine...
breathtaking views all round! The cottage, Windiana III, is small but very nice. There is a fabulous deck for your outside enjoyment and a dock on the pond, as well. HD service from Direct TV is available for you sports fans. Only a couple of negatives...If you intend to cook big meals or spend a lot of time online, you may not be a happy camper at Windiana. Neither of those things bothered us, so we had a wonderful time!!

Windiana - a secluded gem
Windiana is well kept, very quiet, small, manageable for our disabled daughter, and above all, offers solitude and peace as the vistas from the deck and dock are of the "quiet side" of the National Park. Nonetheless, the location is ideal for accessing the more active side of the island, just a few miles away.
While the camp is small (~900 sf), it is extremely well designed and very functional. The efficiency sized kitchen has all the necessary accommodations and is open to the adjoining seating area. It has three bedrooms with quality beds and linens and a central bath with quality fixtures, towels and laundry. The deck, with an outdoor grille, is delightful and very large, partially offsetting the interior space limitations.
As with many camps in Maine, it requires a walk down a fairly steep embankment to reach the dock. Disable people might have difficulty with this; however we managed to push our daughter in her large "jogger." Nonetheless, this requires significant effort. The lakeside seating area is rather small, as it is limited to a floating dock. But the views from the dock and the lake itself are first class. Years ago we kayaked on this lake and would recommend exploring the lake with kayaks or canoes.
Finally, the owner is readily available and is able to accommodate requests.
