We have had trips up and down the Au Train River in the past and we wanted to get everyone together to do it again! This property is PERFECT! The location was everything! You are right on the river, close to the beach and Lake Superior, close to a grocery store/gad station, and close to a pizza place! Also not far from Munising, and Marquette!
There are kayaks on site for rent, and the cost for those is well worth it, and they are in great shape! It was so worth being able to get on and off of the river at the Lodge!
Inside the lodge is amazing too! Great space for lots of people but still big enough that everyone has their own space! The outdoor space is amazing as well! The cabin has everything you need! We can’t wait to rent this place again!

The Reel Inn is a cozy lodge with everything you need to enjoy some time away from busy life! The cabin is tidy, well-stocked and has great wireless internet (very important because otherwise we had no cell service) The AuTrain lake allows for fishing and boating, the fire pit is begging to make s’mores and the bikes are great for cruising and exploring. This location is great for exploring the UP and all its natural wonders.

This is a very well appointed and cared for property. The location is perfect for activities in any direction and it is particularly great for families needing a quality place to stay. The hosts, Matt and Holly, were great to work with and only a phone call away. A very clean and comfortable lodge with all amenities. Stay here - you won’t be disappointed!

This place was great. We’re a family of 5 and it had everything we needed. Lots of beds and they were comfortable. The area was quiet and the view from the back was beautiful. Lake Superior is so close and had gorgeous sunsets. It was really nice we were able to bring our dog. Only negative was that the well water was hard for some of us city water drinkers to drink but not a big deal. It was a great getaway.

Beautiful all wood cabin -lodge. Good beds and well furnished Warm and clean. But it's not an isolated cabin in the woods. It's on the river next to several other places .
Would recommend it and would use it again if in the area.

Everything was made easy start to finish. Matt and Holly were absolutely fantastic hosts. Someone in our party left an item behind and they were easily reachable for us to make arrangements to pick it up on the way back out of town. They were very communicative before our check in and were easy to contact. They really have made it a destination with the look of the cabin, the super comfy beds and pillows; generous amounts of bath and kitchen towels; kitchen equipped enough to cook, 2 refrigerators, extra bed linens, industrial coffee maker, outdoor seating, fire pit and a multitude of options if its a rainy day. Games, dvds, 2 huge TVs. The location was absolutely amazing! Even though we had a family next door we were able to have an intimate bonfire without feeling encroached upon. The Reel inn is definitely smaller than the wide angle photos on the Vrbo page but that didn't take away from our party of 4. Holly and Matt have definitely taken the time to make sure this property is cared for. The only bummer, which we worked around because the kitchen was stocked with pans, was that the grill wouldnt stay lit. Over all, wonderfully comfy and cozy experience. So close to EVERYTHING while feeling secluded, even eith neighbors close by. Recommend.

Our annual birthday bash with our 3 daughters, son-n-laws, and 7 grandchildren has become a destination event. Over the past decade we have converged the Rockies, the Smokies, Popular Lakes, and Beaches. I feel like we can rate places with some well-rounded experience. The Reel Inn was not disappointing in the slightest! We arrived Friday late, Chilled at the lodge on Saturday and took in a canoe, kayak, paddle boat trip up to Lake Superior and back. Sunday we drove the scenic, 2-hour drive over to Mackinac Island. I recommend The Reel Inn for Families, Fishing Trips with friends, or a simple kickback week/weekend. We plan to come back to experience a winter stay as well. Matt was very responsive and timely. Great Place! Great Location! Great Host!

The Reel Inn Lodge was a tranquil place to get away and enjoy peace and quite. We enjoyed the River and the location was in good vicinity of Munising and Marquette. Overall, the lodging met our needs as a family and we would entertain coming back as we were only able to scratch the surface of the UP.

Had a great time in the lodge with family, very roomy and location is beautiful
8.0 / 10.0
The cabin was very nice and the location was great for what we went up for. The only problem we had was the "wide open" sleeping quarters. The cabin is listed as three bedrooms but upstairs (where 98% of sleeping/beds are located) there are no doors or separation of sleeping quarters. We had two families in the cabin and it made for a few awkward moments. The only true bedroom with a door was downstairs and it was a futon (a very squeaky and loud futon). For the price per night, the description of the sleeping arrangements should be more descript.

I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay while in Au Train. Absolutely Beautiful home, great location, best back yard for fishing and bonfires and all the extra amenities was a bonus!!! This place comes with bikes, paddle boat, canoe, grill, fire pit, and much much more how cool is that!!!

The house was beautiful and clean. The pictures are a little deceiving in regards to the bedroom situation BUT it was perfect for our group. Kitchen was well stocked with essentials. Your knives need some sharpening haha Thank you for stopping by to check in on us!! Mark was super sweet. The backyard was perfect for bonfires, canoeing, and fishing with our group!! Overall, super happy with our stay!

We enjoyed kayaking and seeing the eagles so close to the house. Traveling to all of our outings were all within a 15 minute drive. Made it alot easier to travel and see everything we wanted during our stay.

Great House on a river
This place was a great house to come back to at the end of the night after exploring the pictured rocks seashore. We kayaked a few times out to lake superior from the house and spent time at the beach. It also had everything we needed for cooking meals at night and fun campfires at night. I would definitely recommend it for others.

Awesome place for family
Plenty of beds, right on river for canoeing or kayaking, included bikes convenient for rides up to beach or grocery 5-10 min away

Overall Good
Nice cabin but it is directly next to two other properties so not very private and small yard. Also it is not truly three bedrooms- all of the beds pictured are in one big loft on the top floor so a little misleading. Overall nice cabin on au train- short float to Lake Superior by kayak.

Awesome cabin!
We absolutely loved the cabin. We had two families with four kids total and it was perfect. The view of the lake was stunning and everything was clean and well stocked. We can't wait to come back.
Thank you for the great memories!

Great location and cozy cabin
We stayed here in Feb to have some winter fun and we did indeed. The cabin was perfect and very clean. Its was also in a great location with stuff to do in Au Train, a short drive to Munising/Pictured Rocks as well as Marquette for some skiing/snowboarding. There was so much snow the kids (and adults) were in heaven. We even had bon fires out back during the evenings. The only thing is that au train is a cellular dead spot for AT&T and the wifi in the place did not have a strong signal. So if you have to do a little remote work that can be a challenge without a hot spot or more bandwidth. We are strongly considering coming back next winter. This place also sounds great in the summer with the river right in the backyard.
