About this cabin rental
Bear Crossing Cabin is a comfortable, dog-friendly cabin on a hill overlooking Shadow Mountain Lake with panoramic views of mountains and national forest. Mount Bryant, with its natural crescent moon and sun shapes can be seen from the living room and the large deck. Our cabin is minutes from all the fun the Grand Lake area has to offer. Less than 10 minutes to Grand Lake Village, 13 minutes to the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, 5 minutes to County Road 4 and snowmobile trails, and less than 2 minutes to the Green Ridge public boat launch. We are 15 minutes to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at the Grand Lake Nordic center, 20 minutes to Ski Granby Ranch for a taste of alpine skiing, and only 40 minutes from Winter Park Resort for those seeking the thrill of Mary Jane.
This 2 bedroom 1.75 bath cabin is on over .75 acres of land and features a 300 square foot loft for reading, relaxing, game play, or for an extra sleeping area. We have a mini multi-game table that interchanges between table tennis and pool, and a variety of family-friendly games suitable for all ages.
Walk into the large, open great room and have a seat on the comfortable three-person couch, or cozy up on the over-sized chair with your feet up on the ottoman to watch TV or gaze out the window. Have dinner on the large deck or in the dining area. We have a very well stocked kitchen with all of your utensil and cooking needs. Sauce pans, fry pans, bakeware, cutlery, plates, cutting boards, and even a crock pot and blender are available for your use. We stay in the cabin too, and love to cook, so we made sure to stock the cabin with everything we (and you) would need for that purpose, including a chef's knife, utility knife, filet knife, and bread knife.
As you walk down the hall of Bear Crossing Cabin, you will find a large closet to your right that houses a washer and dryer for your use. A closet next to it houses a first aid kit...just in case that fish proves harder to filet than you thought! Continue to the end of the hallway and you will find a bedroom on each side. To the right is the master bedroom with a beautiful, custom-made beetle-kill pine queen-sized bed. You will also find a 6 drawer chest and a walk in closet that includes a laundry bag, an extra pillow, blanket, iron and ironing board, and additional duvets. Across the hall is the second bedroom with a 9 drawer dresser, a full length mirror, a large reach-in closet, and a custom-made rustic queen bed made from beetle kill and pallet boards. We know that not everyone sleeps on the same firmness of mattress, so each bedroom features a different level of firmness. The master bedroom has a luxury, Euro-top, moderately firm mattress. The second bedroom has a comfortable pillow-top for those who prefer a less-firm mattress and more of a sink-in feeling. We also have seasonal duvets to provide you the right amount of warmth in each season.
The master bathroom is en-suite to the master bedroom and has a shower. There is a full bath with a tub/shower combination in the bathroom in the hallway. We provide towel sets for all guests to be used in the cabin, but beach towels are the responsibility of guests.
Take a stroll from the living room out onto the large, wrap-around deck. We feature a patio dining table that seats six with an umbrella that is easily cranked open. The umbrella also tilts to accommodate various positions of the sun. Walk the deck towards the north side of the house and you will find a portion of the deck that is covered. This area houses our three-burner gas grill for your use, and a porch swing with mountain views and views of Shadow Mountain Lake.
To the south side of the house, you will find a fire-pit area with plenty of bench seating. Roast marshmallows for smores, or warm up in the evening while enjoying a starry night.
We love dogs and have two very large ones, so Bear Crossing Cabin is, naturally, dog-friendly. You and your fur friends will find a variety of flowers, fir trees, and aspen on the large property. At night, the foliage from this nature helps increase the feeling of privacy. We are also a short distance from a variety of dog-friendly hiking trails, including the Granby Pump Canal that carries water from Lake Granby to Shadow Mountain Lake, and a woodsy area with multiple trails where dogs can roam off-leash.
In addition to being dog lovers, we are art lovers and like to support working artists. Much of the decor was created by Colorado artists, and the beds, coffee table, outside cedar bench, and bed-side tables were custom-made by a family-owned company in Wyoming.
** Please note that this property features exterior audio and video security cameras for the entryway and driveway to ensure guest safety. These do not look into any interior spaces **
**We HIGHLY suggest you purchase trip insurance to protect your booking in the event of emergency or need to cancel outside of our policy**
We hope you enjoy Bear Crossing Cabin and all it has to offer as much as we do!

This cabin was the nicest we have stayed in and since we have been married 59 years and have stayed in many cabins, that is saying something. It was immaculate and fully supplied for relaxing and cooking. A deck with sunshine and another area for shade even with a swing. Plenty of lovely areas to walk around. The upstairs level has games for young and old. Even the beds are very comfortable. Thanks to the owners for sharing their cabin.

NOTE: the reason for the LOW RATING on Checkin is entirely DUE to VRBO; Owners saved the day when VRBO tech support could not resolve app issue (couldn’t access our reservation). We were 2 retirees and 2 late-30’s USAF pilots with their 7-yr old Golden, and Bear Crossing was a perfect retreat. We’ve never stayed in a vaca rental that had such a well-outfitted kitchen: 6-7 skillets, a dozen pots&pans, Crockpot, blender, mixer, Ninja coffeemaker, a dozen place settings, etc. Large open area on one side of house allowed early risers to drink coffee & visit while night owls slept in two bedrooms on other side of house. Wrap around porch (covered on front) with two hanging swings in front and 6-seat table (with umbrella) on side gives plenty of opportunity to relax & enjoy the amazing views. We sure hope to return next year!

Cabin wasn't very clean. There was dog pee stains on hardwood floor. Bugs on carpet in master bedroom. Stain on comforter in master bedroom. Only 5 towels for 5 people! The hot water heater is not sufficient. If you were the last person taking a shower, you were taking a cold shower!

We loved the property! So well kept and had everything we needed!

The house is in a beautiful location. It overlooks a highway so at times traffic noise can be loud. The house accommodated our family and beds were comfortable. Some of the kitchen items, like pans, should be replaced.

We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the sunshine one day and then watching a snow storm the next day. The views are amazing and the house had everything we needed. We enjoyed playing the games, too.

Was out final destination for our raid trip...with 3 dogs. Great cabin for us and the dogs! We went off peak season and it was glorious. Communication with host was always easy ad the replies were prompt. I recommend the location.

The cabin was beautiful, the snowy views of the lake were great and the full moon coming over the mountains was breathtaking. Walking the connecting dirt roads was great every morning for taking the dogs on walks. We spent a lot of time in Fraser and Winter Park which were close and great winter activity towns.

Really enjoyed our stay. The house was very comfortable and close to everything. We were apart of the Tri-Lakes ice fishing tournament so coming back to that fire place was amazing. This is more of a preference issue but the shower heads weren't the greatest. Would definitely stay get again though. We love Grandby so I'm sure we will.

This was a cute place with beautiful views.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The fall folliage around the cabin and the beautiful views were amazing. We went on several dog friendly hikes suggested by the owners. Our dog Bella really had a great time. The town of Grand Lake is more laid back. We love the shops and town of Grand Lake. Everyone was very accommodating.

The cabin was comfortable, had everything we needed and was in close proximity to restaurants and hiking trails. The view was breathtaking and the firepit and deck area is where we spent most of our time. We would stay here again.

We enjoyed the view from the deck and the property was clean and easy to check in/out of.

We enjoyed our stay and the house was perfect. It was in a great location (just a 15 minute drive to RMNP) and getting to the things we wanted to do never took long. The town of Grand Lake is absolutely worth a visit and fun to walk around in, grab lunch, or pick up a souvenir.
The house is in proximity to the main highway and the road noise is noticeable; however, it tends to die down towards dusk and is quiet throughout the evening and into the early morning. We were treated to some amazing sunsets and beautiful sunrises, and saw a couple of coyotes early one morning prowling around.
All in all, it was a very relaxing trip. The house was spotless and had everything we needed for a week away. Definitely recommend if you’re staying in the area.

Stumbled across this listing because my brother was going to have his dog and this place exceeded all expectations. Amazing view, wonderful location, well stocked kitchen and very clean. I loved the proximity to Grand Lake, RMNP and so many trails. It would be so easy to stay here a week. I never expected to fall in love with the area, but after just a long weekend, I know I’ll be back someday! If you are on the fence, do it!!

The pictures dont do this property justice!! My wife and I stayed here for our 20 year anniversary. Let me just say that this place is worth every penny! We will be back with friends and family.
The location is ideal, just a hop from Grand Lake, Estes park, denver, vail, and many many more. We enjoyed just seeing the view from the back deck (phenomenal), traveling to Rocky Mountain National Park (a must see with breath taking views), visiting the Denver Mint (wow), the Denver Botanical Gardens, the Cheyenne Zoo, Soda Springs, and many more.
Everything you need is at the property (We even added a few things), games, grill, laundry, kitchen, bedrooms, swings, wildlife, and much more!
The owners have taken amazing care of the place. You can tell by looking at several of the other properties! The inside is clean, neat, organized, and well kept!
I cant say enough on how greatful we are that they share this property with others.
Even though we didn't bring our dog with us, the amenities for the 4 legged friends are next level.
Again a must stay again, and again, and again!!!

Despite the weather (clouds & Rain) most of our stay we had a very nice stay at Bear Crossing Cabin.
From the views and the comfort of the cabin our stay was very enjoyable.
The cabin had everything needed and everything had a place and if you were not sure where things were or where to place them all you had to do was look at the pictures.
The entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park was just minutes away.

I wanted a comfortable place stay with easy access to RMNP. I was able to get into the park early each morning for wildlife photography and hiking. This fit my needs perfectly.

The property was exactly what we expected it to be.
I was a little disappointed in the fire ring and seating.
We needed to dig out the old burnt wood and try to raise the grate up to get some air flow so it would burn better.
The benches were not comfortable. Even a cheap chair would have been better, We searched and searched for the one box of matches. having to use them for a fire AND light the grill (we didnt use it) was asking alot. Minor issues that you could address in the future. Would definitely stay here in the future

Our family really enjoyed our stay, beautiful cabin in the mountains. We appreciated the children’s utensils and kitchenware! Great communication with the hosts and we loved finding a home we could bring our pups along too! Thank you 😊

Great property, but this winter has been hard. So much snow that deck is difficult to navigate, plus it's beginning to be mudseason; at least during the warm hours of the day. Very messy. Kitchen is well equipped, though low on paper towels. Lots of games and plenty warm. The fireplace is wonderful! I thought the property was closer to Granby Ranch, but the lack of light pollution was a bonus for night sky photos. I would highly recommend this property.

Very comfortable cabin with everything you need. Hosts were very nice and responsive. We had a lovely time and would recommend.

Everything was smooth and just like described in the listing. The owners were prompt in responses. The town is wonderful!

What a beautiful place! We felt so at home, and even in the dead of winter it was such a beautiful view and stay! Very close to town and the hot springs which was amazing! Fun games to play in the cabin, and some serious potential to see some wildlife in the warmer seasons! We will Definitely be visiting again!

We had a great stay. Everything you could need away from home was available.

Beautiful warm and spacious cozy cabin, kept beautifully decorated and stocked with all necessary kitchen utensils, pans, plates, etc.! We stayed 4 days and it was perfect. Owners were quick to respond to our questions since it was our first time navigating the snow and we did get alot of snow! Make sure you have the vehicle/tires during the snow season! Although the roads get maintained with plowing, snow can be tricky for us newbies. They left a notebook with lots of helpful info. Our teenagers and us took advantage of the mini pool table and had a lot of fun. Beautiful outdoor views from inside the property. Washer/dryer was helpful to clean towels. It's obvious owners take pride in their amazing cabin and we definitely recommend!! Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautifully maintained and clean home! We captured many exciting memories that we will forever remember ❤️

We had a wonderful time relaxing, snowshoeing and tubing at the Nordic Center, soaking at the Hot Sulphur Springs, eating at the yummy Tabernash Tavern. We were so pleased that our fur family member could also enjoy it with us.

The location was perfect, Grand Lake is a cute and quaint town in the winter and not far away. While there are other cabins near by, we still felt like we had space and privacy.
