About this chalet rental
This 4,830-square-foot, lakefront chalet is situated on nearly 12 acres and features 180-degree lake and mountain views from nearly every room! It will accommodate up to 17 people in beds (I will allow 17 people max) with five bedrooms and three bathrooms on two floors, plus an 800-square-foot loft with king size bed, a full size bunk with single on top and two single beds.
I always receive nice cards and letters from the people that have stayed here telling me what a nice time their family had, how beautiful the house is and how they can't wait to return again the following summer.
I provide only quality furnishings, linens, towels, soaps, toilet paper, appliances and utensils. I have high end front loading washer and dryer on site. I pride myself on keeping the home spotless for each rental. The grounds are always well groomed.
The home also features hardwood floors, a river-rock fireplace in the living room, open kitchen and dining room with water views. The cedar tongue-and-grove cathedral ceilings add a warm and cozy feel. The very large master suite has two-story-high cathedral ceilings, a private deck over looking the lake, a gas fireplace and a private jacuzzi tub in the large master bath suite.
There is another large deck off of the living room with a hot tub, patio table, gas barbecue and great views of the lake. The house also has it's own private boat dock, sandy beach with fire pit and picnic table.
Very private Rose Lake is ideal for water skiing, wake boarding, fishing and boating. Most of the time you will have the lake to yourself. The water is very calm and ideal for all water sports.
There is also another boat ramp less than two miles from the house that will let you access Lake Coeur d' Alene if you bring your own boat.
The house is also close to hiking, biking and snowmobile trails, as well as numerous area golf courses. It is less than 15 minutes away from Silver Mountain Ski resort and it's famous World's Longest Gondola. Look Out Pass Ski Resort is only 45 minutes east in Montana with the best snow and best daily lift rates around!
Silver Mountain Resort opened a brand new water park and wave machine in 2008. Silver Mountain also offers Mountain Bike rentals for use on several of the areas bike trails. They also have Downhill bikes for those who dare to take the Gondola to the top and descend Silver Mountain.
Also nearby is Silverwood Theme Park, another well known area attraction for the family and kids about 45 minutes drive from the house.
This home is located less than 22 minutes from Coeur d' Alene and 55 minutes from Spokane International Airport.
Central air conditioning was added to the home in 2007 for those extra hot summer days! Thank you!

The house and the beach was a great place for us to connect with our three adult kids and our six grandchildren (ages 6 weeks to 8 year old). They were content to play on the beach by the lake. Ideal destination for this type of gathering.

The property was perfect for our family reunion. Plenty of room for 13 of us. The beach wss super and just a short walk away. We would stay again.

Our family enjoyed the week at Rose Lake. The house is beautiful, well stocked with all the amenities. The walk to the lake was easy for everyone. The dock was perfect for swimming and playing. The location was close to the Hiawatha bike trail and Harrison which were two day trips we took. Overall it was a wonderful week with family, we could not have had a better time! Thank you!

This home and property was spacious and met our families needs. Our focus was water activities, and this private sandy beach and dock were an excellent choice. We used the beach and yard extensively for our portable smoker; yard games; horseshoes, etc. The 3 chefs in our family appreciated the spacious kitchen and dining area; the extensive selection of pots, pans, utensils, dishes. The spacious living room was awesome for evening family games, puzzle board, etc.
Home was inviting and clean upon our arrival. Lacked a second refrigerator which would have been helpful with the volume of food our group used for the week. We improvised using 4 ice chests.
We would recommend this property for multifamily gathering!!
4.7
The house is large and well furnished. The lake is small but very private. We were usually the only ones on it.
A large proportion of the beds are located in a loft which is open to the living/family room. No privacy and you hear everything up there.
There is a garbage container in the kitchen but once full you literally have to travel a half mile to the trash and recycling bins. You are not informed of that until the day before your arrival.
The property is remote and far from any town or shopping.
The WiFi is effectively non existent.
Communications from the owner just before we arrived and while we were there dampened our enthusiasm for the property.

Perfect for a base to ride the Coeur d'Alene trail.

The property is better than advertised. Very clean. Tons of space. Beautiful grounds.

We had a wonderful week with family at this lovely home. It was close enough to Coeur d’Alene to enjoy the area and we had a great time on Rose Lake also.
4.7
Our family enjoyed this beautiful property for the second time as the host site for a family reunion. Kids aged 4 to 13 could catch blue gill, catfish and bass day after day. The shallow water out to the dock is a safe place for the kids to swim and enjoy the water. The lake is calm and quiet most of the time making the perfect water conditions for paddleboarding, canoeing, kayaking, etc.
The home is comfortable for a large group and has an open floor layout which made visiting easy while still being able to spread out.
The property is also a ~20 minute drive into Coeur d' alene which allows easy access to city activities such as dining and shopping. Silverwood is less than an hour drive which was a super fun adventure for all ages. Can't wait to book our 3rd trip!!

Annual Family Vacation
Our Family consisted of (2) Seniors, (13) Adults & (3) children. The home worked out fine for our large family, with all the Amenities, boat dock, etc. Very well kept Home and Property, with the Owner being very informative and responsive to us as Guests.

Beautiful family retreat
The property is beautiful and well-maintained, and the Rose Lake environment is fantastic. We had three families staying comfortably (10 people total, age range 2-82). We rented a few kayaks from nearby Kayak Coeur d'Alene, and they delivered them right to the dock. We spent much time in and around the water, cooking food and just doing family stuff. There's nice trail access in the neighborhood (especially good for biking). Downtown Coeur d'Alene is about 25 minute drive out, which we did once or twice. But the serenity you get on Rose Lake is unbeatable.
Only difficulty was the mosquitoes. The lodge has a high central ceiling where they congregate indoors, out of reach of swatters and sprays. No problem during the day; but if you're sleeping in the loft bedding area (one queen, one bunk, two twins), they descend on you at night and it's a bit brutal. We kept the doors and windows sealed up, but they're still in there. They also make the awesome hot tub difficult to enjoy in the early evening, though not a problem earlier in the day.
The other sleeping areas don't have the mosquito problem. So if you're 6-8 adults, everyone should have a comfy private bed without the bites.
This wouldn't keep us from coming back though. Overall a great value and a really unique location.

Nicest house we've rented in 10+ years. Outstanding kitchen and great room. A little cool for swimming, but wonderfull for fishing...we had four Littles catch their first ever fish. Only negatives would be the two downstairs areas felt damp and could use a dehumidifier. Overall a great family vacation.

Our family reunion turned out to be a great success, the lake house was beautiful and clean. The views were outstanding and getting to Rose Lake was easy. The only problem we encountered was our 5 families and really only 3 bedrooms. The basement was huge but it was a room within a room. Not too much privacy for the three basement rooms. Luckily our families are close and we figured out sleeping arrangements For 17 of us.

Great stay for a large group of people!
My friends and I hold an annual lakehouse trip and really enjoyed our time at Hartley's place. The location is really beautiful. We particularly appreciated the outdoor space which was large enough to play some games, as well as the well-stocked kitchen. The only note I have is that a lot of the bedrooms are not enclosed, since many of the beds are in the loft and 2 of the bedrooms in the basement kind of lead into one another. We didn't really need a lot of private space though, so it worked out fine for us! Overall, really loved the place and location.

We rented this property as my daughter was getting married in a venue right down the road. It was clean, comfortable, and had plenty of room for the family. Beautiful views, nice hot tub, beach, and dock. The owner communicated instructions clearly and had no problems during the stay. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a mountain getaway!

We had a wonderful time relaxing together at this beautiful lodge. Fun fishing on the lake, playing on the beach, sitting in the hot tub, and family dinner / games around the large dining table. The master bedroom is oversized and the others are as pictured. Fun area and would love to visit again!

We try to take a big family vacation every 2 years and have stayed at a number of VRBO houses. We couldn't book our favorite on Lake Coeur d'alene this year so I ended up trying Rose Lake Lodge. As the trip planner I feel like I'm responsible for everyone's satisfaction. I was pretty worried! But this was the best place we have ever stayed times 10. The house is gorgeous and roomy. Beds comfortable, neat as a pin. The lake is sooo wonderful! We kayaked, swam and fished every day. You can catch fish right off the dock. In fact, the little blue gills nibble your toes if you just dip your feet in. We rarely saw anyone else on the lake. It felt like our private paradise. I absolutely don't understand how anyone could be disappointed in this house in any way. It made me the hero in my family and we can't wait to go back!

Great property for our family. Plenty of room for us in the main living room, but a few chairs short in the dining area. Fishing off the dock was fun and we rented some kayaks that's were great for Rose lake.

We had the best week at this great house. There were 17 of us and we were very comfortable. There is plenty of room in the kitchen/dining area and the living room space. The yard is spacious and the dock and beach allowed for a great time in the water. Would definitely rent this house again. No one wanted to leave when our week was done.

We returned to Rose Lake Lodge for our second year in a row for the week between Christmas and New Years. We are a family group of 16 and there was plenty of room for all of us. The Master Suite is amazing !! The kids loved being upstairs in the loft. The nice big dining room table was great for meals. Of course the hot tub was a hit--especially while the snow was falling !! We had 15 inches of snowfall while we were there which made for some epic sledding right outside the cabin. 3 trips were made to nearby Silver Mountain for skiing and tubing. A nice fire in the main floor fireplace (one of 3) was very cozy on the winter evenings. The large family room with 3 couches had room for all of us while opening presents or playing charades. Hartley was very responsive to any questions I had and he even arranged a snowplow for us if needed after the big snowfall. We certainly hope to return again to our "Christmas cabin" as the kids call it.

At it’s best it could be a nice, quirky cabin. It was clean and there’s a great view. But there are certain expectations we had from the listing description, and from our experiences at other rentals, that were not met whatsoever.⁃ It’s advertised as having 6 bedrooms. There are only two actual private bedrooms with closets. In the basement there are three “bedrooms” but it is really a closet within a room within another room. The loft area has 5 beds and no walls to make it a separate room. It overlooks the kitchen and family room, so anyone staying in those 5 beds is going to have a hard time sleeping before everyone else in the house goes to sleep or after anyone in the house wakes up.- There is no heating system, only A/C. There is a wood-burning fireplace and a few space heaters built into the walls of certain rooms. It gets COLD. And it is difficult to keep warm.- There is WiFi but it is extremely slow, so basically useless.- The TV is very outdated. No smart TV or any of those capabilities. No HDMI ports.- There is no guestbook to explain things, like how the heaters work and where they are located.- There is a washer and dryer but no detergent or dryer sheets. There also wasn’t shampoo or conditioner although they did have a few bars of soap.- We found large spiders on the beds and near them. A little pest control would go a long way.- There is a key used to enter and no key pad, so not the best security.- And lastly, the owner is terrible to work with. He was very unhelpful and even accusatory of us. If we said there were any problems he tried to make it seem as if it were our fault and not his. Extremely unprofessional and immature. So if you have a party of 20 and only 4 people want privacy then the property will work—as long as everyone is also ok sharing one old TV outside of the master bedroom, and at the same time not having internet on their phones. If that doesn’t sound like it’s worth the nightly fee to you, then I’d look elsewhere.Really wish I could leave a better review, but our experience was quite negative and we were extremely disappointed.
