We had a pleasant stay , kitchen well stocked with dishes, cooking pans and nice variety of spices. The location was great, not too far from Acadia and many great places to visit. We had several enjoyable evenings around the fire pit. Definitely a low key, relaxing place to stay.

This was our family's fourth time staying at Helen's cottage and it was clean and cozy as always!

The Pretty Marsh cabin is very well appointed and the area is very quiet particularly at night. The location is out of the way but still easy to get to Bar Harbor, ANP and Southwest Harbor. The cabin does not have central air conditioning but this did not prove to be an issue even in late July.

We had a great time. The place was comfortable and had everything we needed. We would definitely stay again!

Pros - beautiful and peaceful area. About 10 minutes from stuff to do. Super close to echo lake. About 23 minutes to bar harbor.
Clean kitchen, which was well stocked. Clean bathroom. Plenty of towels which was great. Nice fire pit area and deck. Lots of board games.
Cons - This home was more rustic than we expected. It has totally exposed wood with no insulation/drywall, which would be fine except that the wood has tons of water stains and looks like some mildew. There were spider webs in several places and it was pretty buggy, probably because there are tiny entry points in the walls. The linens were also not the cleanest, with some pet hair on many areas. Some of the box springs are exposed and in poor shape. No bugs noticed but openings in mattresses and such are higher risk for bug infestations, so I recommend checking it out. Also the one window AC was not sufficient to cool the home during a heat wave.

My partner, our dog, and I had an amazing time in this house while exploring Acadia! It was convenient for everything we wanted to do, but on the quieter side of the island (which was nice on 4th of July week, especially with a pup). The house was clean, comfortable, and stocked with everything we needed for the kitchen and bathroom. I was even pleasantly surprised to find electric blankets for one cool, rainy evening. Overall, a great stay!

The cottage was a perfect home base for us while we explored Mt. Desert Island.

I originally booked this cottage as a Christmas/Birthday present for my mom. It’s been on our bucket list to visit Acadia National Park. We wanted a place that allowed our two dogs but also a place that was on the quiet side of the island but not far from downtown Bar Harbor or the Park entrance. The cottage was perfect! Ending up turning this trip into a little family getaway. 3 adults, a teen, and 2 dogs and there was plenty of space! We had great weather so ended up using fans at night. Loft gets a little toasty during the day but cools off fast at night. Recommendation would be to have a ceiling fan where the hanging light is in the living room. Will be booking another week next year as we didn’t get to visit all the places that was on our list!

This delightful cottage was a perfect home for our family of six while we explored Acadia NP. We always prefer to stay away from the bustle of the touristy part of national parks and this little treasure was perfect. Beech mountain hike was just 10 minutes away and Acadia’s East side hikes all within an easy drive. Everyone got their own bed and the house was equipped with everything we needed including some fun puzzles and games. Perfect little cabin for a family looking to get out into nature and then come home to snuggle and read.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The accommodations were cozy and inviting and the host was warm and responsive. There is so much to do in the area - this cabin is in the perfect location. The electric blankets were an added bonus and made for great rest/sleep after long days of hiking and exploration.

A great place to stay in a beautiful area!

There were four of us and plenty of room for us to spread out. Everything was clean and very welcoming. The owners daughter was very quick to respond and even printed & delivered something for us needed for the park. Absolutely would recommend this place for everyone including larger families, lots of beds & space.

The cabin was never listed as rustic. It was cold when we got there. There was a very small wood stove without proper ventilation. I told the manager, Helen, that we wouldn't be using that. She said it was heated with space heaters. There was a small one in the bathroom and a ceramic one for the bedroom. The living room had an oil heater. The one for the second bedroom was broken. The ceramic ones were clogged with dust. When we woke in the morning it was freezing. Couldn't have been 50. Husband even made a fire with kindling but it wouldn't get enough ventilation to keep going. We told Helen we wanted to just leave. She said she'd get us more heaters and she did leave two brand new oil heaters. This helped but it was cold every morning. It should have been listed as wood heat and space heaters. In our bedroom the extension cord was taped to the floor with two pieces of duct tape. One of the lights in the track lights was out. We couldn't open the front door as it was stuck on the bottom.

The cabin has a great layout for 2 couples + kids. It has everything you need and was very clean. I can't comment on the A/C or heat as the weather was moderate for us. You are only about 20 mins from Bar Harbor or the entrance to the Acadia Loop Road. The Seal Cove Auto Mus. and Bass Harbor Light are nearby and well worth it. It's a classic camp with lots of charm.

This cabin was perfect for our stay in Acadia. Drive to all hikes and stores was within 30 minutes. Being on the quiet side was peaceful and we loved the fire pit every night. We would absolutely stay here again.

This was our first visit to Acadia and not being fans of crowds we opted to stay here on the Quietside of Mount Desert. Turned out to be the perfect place for our family of five and our large dog. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing, and swimming in the nearby pond and harbor areas. It was nice taking our labrador nearby to the Pretty Marsh Picnic area where she could freely swim and run off leash. We love hiking and were fairly close to allthe hiking spots.
The cabin was super clean and well stocked well stocked with all the paper goods and kitchen supplies we needed to cook the lobster we bought from a fisherman in the harbor a mile down the road. There were plenty of towels and even soap was provided. The owners apparently take great pride in proviing a great experience for guests!

This little cottage had everything we needed for an unforgettable trip to Mount Desert Island. It was perfectly located as a launching pad for countless adventures. We also equally loved our time spent at "home", especially the quiet mornings making Maine blueberry pancakes (with a few blueberries picked right there!), playing badminton, and just sitting on the porch enjoying the fresh air. Thank you for a wonderful family vacation!

The cabin was a great home base for our Acadia trip. More than enough space for a family of four and our small dog. Well stocked and clean. Owner was responsive to a few questions I had before we arrived. The only downside was the bit of road noise. It’s not a very busy road but when a loud truck went by, it was loud. The bedrooms are in the back, away from the road so that helps, but I am a light sleeper and was woken up a couple of times. If you aren’t a light sleeper it shouldn’t be a problem. Overall we had a great stay here and thought the accommodations were great for our needs.

We loved our stay at this cabin. It had absolutely everything we could possibly need. The kitchen was well stocked so we were able to cook most of our meals at home. The cabin is more spacious than it appears in the photos. Our family of 6 had plenty of room to spread out. Everyplace we went took about 20-30 minutes to drive to. It was great to come back at the end of a long day of hiking to relax on the quiet side of the island. The beds were comfortable and our kids loved having electric blankets on the beds! The owners responded quickly when we needed to reach out to them. I would definitely stay again if we ever make it back to Maine.

We spent a week here and did not want to leave. The cottage is on the quiet side of the island and enjoyed staying on MDI without the hefty price tag of the hotels in Bar Harbor. It was also nice to have a beautiful area to come to at night. There is even a spot to kayak and swim less than 5 minutes away.
Our girls (6 and 8) enjoyed spreading out, one slept in the downstairs bedroom and the other loved the loft. Our family enjoyed the stove to keep warm on a cold, rainy night and the fire circle on nice evenings and the games and puzzles. We cooked breakfast at the cottage but enjoyed the local restaurants for dinner.
We would definitely recommend this lovely place to friends and family and/or stay here again.

This cabin was exactly what we were hoping for! Front porch was great to sit out on with the view of a buck walking around a few times. Within 25 minutes of everything we wanted to do for hikes, anything Acadia related, and Bar Harbor dinners. Easy check-in process and cabin was exactly as advertised. Great spot for dogs, also!

The cabin was great for our family of six. It is cozy, but still spacious. The wood-burning stove was perfect for the cool Maine nights. It is on the quiet side of the park, but still within close proximity to anywhere you would want to go in and around Acadia and Bar Harbor.

Super cool rustic cabin with Maine lobster theme. Nice quiet place to relax after exploring Mount Desert Island during the day. We had a wonderful stay and would totally return to this cabin!

Very clean and rustic cabin. It’s a little close to a main road through the area so you don’t get the true cabin camping ambiance, but it’s close enough to a grocery store and other points of interest that you hardly notice. Perfect place to set up a “home base” to explore and enjoy MDI. The property owners obviously take great care and pride in their cabin and it showed in the upkeep and helpful instructions. Would definitely stay again.

The house is very close to all the possible hiking trails, we did Dorr Mountain, Precipice and Beehive trails, Cadillac Summit, Ocean Path and Thunder Hole, Gorham Mountain, Jordan Cliffs and Beech Cliff trails. It's also close to restaurants and entertainment areas. We didn't spend much time in the house, just the nights, but it was comfy for the three of us and had all the necessary things we needed. Thank you for our stay! Hope to be back!

We absolutely loved our time in the cozy cabin. We spent our days hiking in Acadia and the evenings eating out in Bar Harbor. The cabin was perfect for my husband, myself and our toddler. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for my kiddo, the place was perfectly clean, decor was fun, and it was full of games to play. It was a bit cold but the heaters and electric blankets helped that. The wood burning stove was more for ambience, which it did well:) it was close to everything we wanted but still felt secluded in the woods. A true Maine getaway. We will absolutely be going back to this cabin!! We loved every moment of our vacation and the cabin was a huge part of that.

Do you like peace and quiet, and being close to the action yet not overtaken by crowds of tourists? If yes, this is your spot to stay. A cute, quaint cabin that’s family owned and on the quiet side of the island. You’re still super close to Bar Harbor and right on top of Acadia National Park, but without the mobs of tourists. Stocked kitchen, comfy beds, good hot water. What more could you need for your outdoor adventure?

Booking was a breeze, directions were spot on. We absolutely loved our accommodations ! The cabin is lovely, well appointed, comfortable, bigger then we expected but cozy at the same time. We loved that we could bring our pup along. We enjoyed grilling, having a campfire and having coffee and breakfast on the front porch. A great get away for a family, small or large ! Kathy, Mary Lou, Pepper and Patti

Had to call owner because TV wasn't working. I finally figured out why. It was cold and tiny space heater wasn't enough. Had to find and figure out things on our own. Coffee pot was there, but no coffee left. Owner should really check before each renter arrives.

This is our second summer staying at this cottage, and both times we have made wonderful memories. It's on the quiet side of the island, and it is easy enough to get to Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor, and all of our favorite hiking and swimming places. We appreciate the deck for morning coffee, the blueberry patch in the front yard, and a beach on Long Pond a short drive away. The cabin is not fancy (no dishwasher or laundry machine), but there is a wood stove, beds for children, and a grill outside. It is a place to make happy family memories.

Peaceful and cozy
We had a great time in Acadia. Visiting Bar Harbor. This cabin was great. Very cozy and right near a swimming area in a lake. The boys loved swimming out to the dock. We paddle boarded and rented kayaks right there. Best part, all pet friendly. Our dog learned to dive off the dock and rode the board. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. Beds were great. No air conditioning but not needed. Lovely weather and lots of fans. Perfect. Pet friendly a huge plus for us.

Our Stay at Pretty Marsh
Wow! What a great cottage. We loved staying there. It is centrally located on Mount Desert Island and was about 20 minutes from Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park, which is chockfull of fun things to do. This was good because it was quiet and felt like home and the stars at night were amazing. We could easily travel into town, the store or to the park if we wanted to. We went to Pretty Marsh picnic area several times and saw seals out in the water one morning. We drove down to Southwest Harbor, which had a different vibe to Bar Harbor and was very cool. We also swam in Echo Lake (~10 minutes away) which was really nice. This cottage sleeps 8 comfortably and can fit up to 10 people if there are 2-4 children. It has a grill, a fire pit with chairs and a great front porch/deck. We loved the DVDs about the island, park and lighthouses, and watched them all! I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a mellow Maine getaway.

Cabin on the sleepy side of the island
This cabin was like my grandparents cabin that we visited growing up. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I am going to give a few more details thay we would have appreciated knowing before time.
Kitchen- microwave, stove/ oven, drip coffee maker and fridge. There were plenty of glasses, plates, cookie sheets and skillets/ pots, utensils. We mainly just heated up stuff, not true cooking and it was more than sufficient.
The house- 1 bathroom that has a shower stall, no bathtub, but plenty of towels.
Bedrooms- my young teen loved having the loft to herself. It actually has a full sized bed and 2 twins. It is a loft, so partially open to the downstairs.
House- there is no drywall or insulation or central air. We were there in early June so the Temps were nice (50s-70s) Fans, space heaters and a wood stove were provided. The beds had heated blankets, we did not need them. We used the heater in the bathroom and 1 room, but the Temps were mild so we didn't need much else.
Outside.- There is a fire pit and chairs, a picnic table, a small patio table with a. Umbrella and a swing made of lobster traps.
It is on the same road as another house, but we never saw anyone and there are woods to the side. It is just off a main road, so you heard some car noise, but not much.
Two minutes away is Pretty March picnic area. We saw the sunset there several evenings.. we had an entire beach to ourselves every trip. The path is to the left of the gate at the end of the picnic area.
Overall, the stay was great. I would book this place again.

Cabin as as described - very comfortable and peaceful. Convenient to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Would recommend to stay here.

Great location
We had a wonderful time staying at this place. Pretty Marsh is 2 minutes away which is such an underrated spot in Acadia. The house does not seem to have insulation which leads to temperatures being a bit uncomfortable indoors. Other than that, it’s a great place to stay and relax. Close to everything on MDI.

Perfect summer cottage
The cottage is perfect for a stay on the quiet side of the island. The home was very clean and well stocked with everything you could need. The location is a short drive to all of the Bar Harbor fun but far enough away to have peace and serenity at the end of the day. Would love to stay there again in the future.
