Lubbers Quarters lies protected from ocean swells in the clear, turquoise Sea of Abaco. Located between Marsh Harbour and Elbow Cay (pronounced “key”), approximately 3 miles south of Hope Town, it is one mile long and ½ mile wide. The island offers secluded beaches for swimming, sunbathing or shell collecting, paths for walking or jogging among lush tropical flora and foliage, bird watching, and lots of peace and quiet. There are no bright lights, and the night sky is a star-studded showcase!!!
For meals and drinks out, there is "Lubbers Landing", an island style bar and restaurant on the island. Delicious desserts and homemade bread are available for delivery or pickup from Nancy Cash at Lubbers Bakery. Best rum cake anywhere!!! Michael Schreiner of Down Deep sells fresh fish and lobster (in season). Michael is also available for fishing charters and sight-seeing excursions. A 10 to 45 minute boat ride allows even more exploring, dining, and shopping opportunities. Island hopping is a favorite pastime.
Abaco is a fisherman’s paradise. Lobster may be caught in season, and conchs are available year round. Several charter captains are available for offshore fishing or bone fishing in the flats. Bring your fishing gear and catch your own in the Sea of Abaco.
Uncrowded reefs for snorkeling and diving make up some of the best marine-life adventures in the world. You can “do it yourself”, or there are several experienced dive operators available for tours, excursions, training, certification and charter. The three best reefs for snorkeling & diving are Sandy Cay Reef, Fowl Cay Reef and Johnny’s Cay. Sandy Cay Reef is in the Pelican Cays Land and Sea Park and has moorings for small boats. Fowl Cay is part of the Bahamian National Trust Preserve. All these are accessible with your rental boat or can be part of a tour with a local charter. We also can provide 'local knowledge' of off-the-beaten-path spots for exploring and snorkeling.
If you are a first time visitor to Lubbers Quarters or Abaco, please let us know. We will help you have a smooth arrival to our little island paradise.

We had an amazing time relaxing at Gone Bananas! The home has everything you could need or want. Owners Patti and David were available to help with questions and to help us navigate our first visit to the Bahamas. If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful oasis away from busy tourist-type areas, this is your place. One of the most beautiful and relaxing places we have experienced. We are so thankful we choose Gone Bananas! It was a wonderful adventure we can't wait to do it again!

Lubbers Quarters Cay in the beautiful Abaco Sea brought back fond memories for our grown family. After long sunny days of boating, snorkeling and visiting surrounding islands for white sandy beaches and lunches out and easy grocery shopping Gone Bananas was the perfect place to come home to at sunset. The luxury home is well appointed and was where gathered to make family meals and play games around the large dining room table . The internet was a plus as our kids could check in with work remotely. The Gone Bananas 6 seat golf cart was a bonus and we could easily get around the cay to our provided boat slip and easily get to the local restaurant, Lubbers Landing, for food and drinks. Patti and Dave greeted us upon arrival and were very accessible for any questions and tips before and during our exciting and memorable vacation.

Patti and David were amazing and so very helpful. Helped us secure ferry from Marsh Harbor to Lubbers and back. Recommended boat rental places and were very responsive from the moment we booked our trip to the very end. Highly recommend Gone Bananas

Abaco!
I have been coming down to Abaco for over 28 years now and the area and people never disappoint. This was our first time staying on Lubbers and we really enjoyed the house. Patti and Dave were great and the house was very centrally located

Gone bananas was everything we hoped it would be. It was ideally located and had all the amenities to make a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We rented this and one other home (Halcyon House) for our 5 siblings and spouses, along with 2-20 ft. boats. Adding the golf cart and kayaks to the mix allowed us to have plenty of activities for everyone. We could snorkel, bird watch, walk the island or simply read a book. We couldn’t have asked for better hosts in David and Patty. From the rental process to the arrival and departure, they were quick to respond. They did everything they could to make our vacation everything we had hoped for. We highly recommend Gone Bananas in Lubber Quarters for any Abaco trips.

Our family had a wonderful time here. We have 3 teenagers that had a blast. We rented Gone Bananas and Banana Split. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The House was extremely spacious and cozy. I have never slept so well. We absolutely loved sitting outside on the deck and ate there every night for dinner. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals.
Having the golf cart was very useful to go to Cracker P’s, West Beach and to the docks where our boat was.
Patti and David were very accommodating. They met us when we arrived to help us with our luggage and give us tips on fun places to go.
We didn’t want to leave. The only suggestion I have is to stay longer!!!
We would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely perfect!!
This was the perfect vacation villa that exceeded all my expectations. Pattie and Dave really took care of us and treated us like we were part of the family. They had met us upon arrival with our golf cart in tow. We were at the villa and enjoying our kayaks within moments of arrival. The villa is spotless and it was wonderful having two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It spacious and gave us plenty of room to spread out (we had two couples in our party). The deck out front was prefect to hide us from the sun and kept us cool with the breezes from the over head fans. We would sit out there and drink our morning coffee while making plans for the day. We kept the windows opened and enjoyed the fresh air. Which was nice, coming from Wisconsin you don't get to do that in the month of January. We would walk to the marina at night and look for turtles hiding in the rocks, and take the stairs up to the eagles nest (Upper decking) where we would look at the stars. We had access to fishing off the community beach during the day catching a good meal for an evening. Dave and Patti help provided us with tips on how to cook and clean our catch of the day. This was a vacation that kept the relaxation status on the board or beach. Nothing to worry about except were the next corona was coming from. I highly recommend this rental, the only thing is once we arrived the vacation time flew by and when it's time to leave its rather heart breaking. Ten days was just way short.

Gone Bananas is a well maintained and comfortable house that met all of our needs while on vacation. It is located on Lubbers Quarters which is a small quiet island with a nice beach and one restaurant/bar named Cracker P's .Gone Bananas felt like a home and not a rental, it had everything we needed for our 10 day stay and more. The home comes with a golf cart, kayaks and a protected boat slip for your use. The home owners Patti and David live on the Island and are more than helpful if needed, their communication was excellent before our trip and they are a radio call or e-mail away while there. After the airline lost some of our fishing gear they were nice enough to pick it up later in the week when it arrived in Marsh Harbour. David offered fishing tips to us when we asked and Patti had suggestions for some must see items while we were there. The other home owners we met were great and we made some new friends while there as well. Lubbers Quarters is located close to Tahiti beach, Hope Town and the Tiloo Cut, every morning we would take the golf cart to our rental boat and spend the day fishing, snorkeling or exploring the other islands and beaches. It was our first trip to the Abacos and we are already talking about returning and Gone Bananas is at the top of our list.

Gone Bananas was the perfect choice. The house is decorated beautifully and is very comfortable. Patti and Dave have thought of everything to make this rental feel like a home. The house is very well maintained and clean. The kitchen was filled with top notch pots, pans, dishes, utinsils and much more. There Is a small cooler, beach towels and even a large beach bag to carry them in. Dave and Patti are so knowledgeable about the area and shared lots of tips and suggestions before our trip via email. They met us at our boat to help bring our luggage and food to the house. It felt like we were coming home to family. After a quick tour of the house and yard which is full of lush tropical plants and lined with beautiful conch shells, they left us to begin our week stay. They explained they were close by if we needed anything. The Wi-Fi worked great, we downloaded an App before arriving that allowed us to call and text our children via Wi-Fi free. Lubbers Quarter Cay residents were very friendly and welcoming. The house is located in the middle between the dock and the marina and an easy 5 min walk to both. The golf cart was great to explore island and carry our items for the day to the boat or beach. Every evening after dinner we walked to the marina to see the sea turtles, then to the dock for the sunset! The dock was also a great place to fish. This was the most relaxing vacation we have ever had and we will definitely return.

Property is well-maintained by knowledgeable owners
The generator came in handy once for us, as there were scheduled outages while we were there. Plenty of room for our family of five with two teenagers and a 21 year-old. The protected boat slip was perfect for our boat. The kitchen and bathrooms are fully stocked with paper products and utensils so that day-to-day activities are a breeze. Patti and Dave are close enough if you need them, but you may never see them if you don't, so it's perfect. You can't go very far on the golf cart, but it is certainly nice to have to explore the island and go back and forth to the boat basin and Lubber's Landing/Cracker P's. This was our fifth trip to Abacos and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gone Bananas.

Thank goodness we rented this property while on Lubbers. We happened to visit during the earliest tropical storm on record, and as such, the power was out for much of our stay on the islands. I'm not sure the listing even speaks to this much, but having a home with a HUGE generator is a big plus anywhere in the Abacos - because the electrical situation is sketchy on all the keys. It was so great to keep the house fully air-conditioned and operate normally (yes we used TVs, cooked in, played games) without worrying about power. My friends had rented a house down the street on Lubbers, and with no generator, spent all the time with us at Gone Bananas. Other amazing things - The pictures of the property don't do it justice. When I booked the property, I thought it was a "nice cottage". Well, it's not. It's actually a beautifully crafted villa. Dimmed and recessed lighting, beautiful furniture, an amazing kitchen, great outdoor deck with ceiling fans and perfect furniture to hang out, lots of games, movies, super comfortable beds, etc. Gas grill a great plus. Filtered water and ice maker- huge plus!Private dock - I also don't think that the listing mentions this, but they have a private dock at the marina. We didn't use it because we kept the boat off our friends dock, but the marina would have been nice - no worrying about wind direction and how securely your docked when tucked away in the small harbour.Best owners - honestly I've always been a little leary when I hear that the owners "live nearby". I guess I really like my privacy, so that's why I've never been a bed-n-breakfast type girl. Patti and David live on Lubbers. And they are amazing. I probably would have never met them had I not needed their help - they aren't intrusive in the least bit. But when the weather was super sketchy and my husband and I needed to take our small rental boat over to Marsh Harbour to pick up our friends, I was concerned. I contacted David just to get his thoughts about the weather - since I'm from Phoenix (boat owner) but not used to 3 ft seas. Anyway, David was so great - he actually took us over to get our friends in his nice big boat (with dry cabin). Then they filled us on stuff we'd never know - like where we were guaranteed to catch grouper/snapper (we did and the kids loved it), and where to swim. And where the fisherman lives to see sharks. Having a golf cart is also a SUPER FUN. Everything was amazing!

We had a great time on lubbers. The property is top notch. The owners are very responsive to all needs. I would recommend renting a boat in order to easily get around to all the sites. Hope to return soon.
Also the people of the Abacos are very friendly. Would highly recommend the Abacos and this property.

Gone Bananas....Best vacation ever
If you want to relax and have the best hosts in the world take care of you, Gone Bananas is your place. Immaculate inside, big beds, kayaks and a golf cart for your use. This was the most relaxing and wonderful family vacation. We had our 7 year old son and were able to fish off the dock and couldn't pull the fish in fast enough....2 grouper, 1 snapper and a yellow fin. Wow! Thank you Patti and David for your kindness and real Southern hospitality. It was wonderful to know you were right down the road and we appreciate your taking us to the ferry to pick up our boat.
Love the island. Loved our hosts. Go Gone Bananas!!!

We visited Lubbers Quarters with two other couples. We rented a 20' boat and explored many other surrounding islands. We kayaked to a beautiful beach, saw tons of sea life and enjoyed the secluded house and all its ammenities. We bought fresh fish on "our" island and also ate at the couple of waterfront restaurants. Our hosts could not have been helpful!!! All good! My only regrets would be my grandkids not sharing it with me😢. So it looks like another trip in the future😊

My family of 4 had one of our very best vacations at Top Bananas. This new home is kept in pristine condition, is beautifully decorated, and the layout is very comfortable. It has all the amenities. We ate most of our meals on the wrap-around porch. The owners met us upon our arrival and were incredibly helpful. We spent our days feeding the fish off the dock (a close walk), enjoying two beaches, and kayaking. It was easy to get around the island on the golf cart provided. We enjoyed both restaurants on the island (only open some days/evenings), and purchased the daily catch from the island fisherman. We would absolutely recommend Top Bananas to adults or families who are looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation in the sun.
