Great. I arrived much later than expected because my border crossing was delayed a lot but I was able to get in and register the next day which was fantastic. The owner is super friendly, speaks English and gave me lots of information about my buses to Santa Ana. The room was large, bed was comfortable and each bed has its own fan which is really necessary with the heat. 15 minute walk to El Tunco

nice woman owns the hostel - only 15 mins walk along the beach to El Tunco.
felt very grimy and run down - huge flies/bugs in the washing up liquid pot that made me feel a bit sick. toilet ran out of water and didnt flush the whole night (it was absolutely disgusting the next morning). Rooms were extremely hot and some beds had a small fan while others didnt. Cats breeding everywhere (please neuter the animals!). definitely overpriced for what it is

Nice location, friendly staff and fans for every bed
I stayed there around Easter when probably all the places increased the prices. Maybe usually it’s cheaper but the price we paid was too much for the stay. Very basic hostel and only 1 bathroom for dorms to share. The small hot room was saved by the fan attached to the bed

Really nice people running the hostel! The outside area with hammocks is very nice! Nice to have a kitchen, fridge and freezer. A fan for every bed in the dorm. Quiet, except from the roadnoise.
One bathroom shared with too many people. Some places are cleaned often while others need more attention.

The front desk person was very friendly and nice. The location was about 10 min walk to El Tunco but it was in the back roads and was not comfortable walking alone in the night.
The room was old, no AC, beds were uncomfortable. The shared bathroom was not regularly cleaned.

Vicky is a great host and can answer most of you questions. The place is kept quiet and clean and the kitchen is good enough.

Great place! Can't wait to come back.. lovely down to earth atmosphere, great staff!
Outdoor shower needs to be redone with the bamboo for better privacy.

the owner was so helpful and so nice!! the place is new and it’s so lovely and clean and lovely pool and bedrooms :)

the owner is nice, and i liked the place's vibe and location. there are many trees around and it's kinda relaxing. the place is a short walk to the beach and it's also not far to walk to el tunco. on the road there are some places to eat local cheap food also.
the place is not clean and it gets noisy during the night, because the road is nearby. also, I had to wait a lot to be able to check-in and there is no potable water (the water is brackish so it is not good even for cooking)

Host is friendly enough, decent access to sunzal point for surfing just down the road.
Extremely loud road noise at all times (semi engine brakes and vehicles with loud exhausts all day/night), uncomfortable beds and pillows, ants, spiders, and cockroaches live with you. Kitchen is useable and free but ants will get to your food unless it's in the fridge. Better not bring any overnight guests or you'll be charged extra. 1 km walk to get to Tunco for food, shops, bars - there's not much near the hostel.

owner of the place BiKİ was amazing. like mom. ıts perfect place to stay in sunzal. 15 mins by walkin from the beach to tunco (from highway 25 mins by walkin) pet friendly hostal. ıt is very clean. not party hostel. i like it very much thats what i expected.
ı liked everything

Good location.
The hostel is fine. I found the manager quite rude. There is a sign saying you have to check out by 9 or remove all your things and bring them downstairs so they can clean which is fine. That’s what I was doing just sitting in the garden (which is not cleaned) and I got abruptly kicked out. I found that pretty unwelcoming and the place was not good value for money considering what else is around in the area that is not advertised on booking.com.
There is a bug problem and I had to dodge all the giant ants to open the door to the hostel at night and I was afraid they would creep into my bag. The place is not very clean.

The price
Kinda far from everything, literally nothing to do around unless you go to el Tunco. No hot water, little far from the “beach” - you can’t swim there. To get to the beach you have to walk in the middle of woods. Entrance is very dark at night.

Friendly, helpful hosts, safe, secure, strong lockers, reasonable wi-fi (it did disappear during a storm!) good kitchen, large garden area with hammocks and undercover, buses stop on road close to hostel, not far to walk to beach.
I had to ask for toilet paper and the sink was filthy - small things matter!

The garden looked nice. The shower was alright.
The location wasn’t great, it wasn’t very clean, the beds weren’t really comfortable, there were insects everywhere in the dorm.

This is great hostel. perfect for someone that wants to be close to the beaches. It was easy to navigate around (like to Trunco) or shuttle services. It had nice and spacious sitting area and a true surfer vibe. The staff (I met 3) were supervise and helpful.
Needed a few more outlets to service both fans and phone. chargers- - I think a power strip or two would totally solve that. And maybe a plastic shelf in the bathroom to put your close on. Neither a big deal, just an enhancement!

It's a nice, cheap and calm hostel. It was really great for meeting people. There's lots of hammocks, the kitchen is decent, you can pick mangos from the garden and the pets are really friendly. It's located in a more local area, the beach and El Tunco are close by as well as some shops and nice pupuserías.
The bathroom wasn't cleaned for many days and the toilet paper roll wasn't changed, had to always go ans ask for more paper. The water refill costs more than a new bottle of water!

Checking out
It was filthy. Bugs were everywhere and the windows were jammed open so everything could come inside. The ceiling fans barely made any difference in the humid conditions. The property was overpriced. Worst of all, there are some horrible aggressive dogs on site. A previous reviewer said they were bitten by one and the owner didn’t seem to care. I dismissed this as a one-off and booked two nights here anyway, but had a near miss with the dogs whilst leaving.

Felt like a community
The dogs and roosters would make noise at night, waking you up.

other guests, they made my stay suitable.
wifi and tube water are not working properly, so you can have problems to get a shower etc..it’s too close to de highway so you can hear the noisy trucks during the day and part of the night. the dorm upstairs it’s too hot. the entrance door is about to fell down

Dorm and bathroom were fairly clean, the women I talked to was very friendly.
There was no water for the shower, the whole property just didn't look nice.

Had to shower outside but was beautiful tbh. Beds were comfy. The rooms were cleaned very well every single day. Super close to the beach. Staff was nice, lots of dogs and cats which i love so id definitely stay here again :)) muchas gracias
Sometimes you have to ask for them to turn the water back on or there’s not a lot of water but there’s always someone around to help :)

The staff really got out of their way to help you with everything! Greatly appreciated!
You get what you pay for, the facilities are fine!

Getting out of there.
irresponsible of the owner to not have a dog on a leash, with signs all over that says beware of dog. The owner was apologetic, didn’t offer to refund my stay or Pay me back for a taxi to the hospital. she has zero class.

The hostel is close to the El Sunzal break. The room and the bathroom were quite clean and the staff was nice.
There is almost no water running during the whole day. They only use fans in the room which are very weak so it's extremely hot in the night. The kitchen and common areas were very dirty. Just behind the hostel there is a main road and the noise of the trucks passing there is very loud, not really allowing you to get a good sleep. It's close to the beach but it's 20 minutes walk from El Tunco where are all restaurants, bars and markets and I wouldn't recommend that walk in the evening or in the night as it is very empty and dark, quite sketchy and not safe.
I know it was one of the cheapest options but you can get better place for the same price or just slightly more expensive. I just wish I knew it is so hot in the room and that it would be so noisy.

Very sweet place, perfect when you need to relax and unwind. It's in a super quiet area and 4mins walk on the beach. There are tiny shops 5-10mins walk away and local comedors but that's it. El Tunco is 15mins walk through the beach if you want restaurants or busier place. The downstair dorm is much nicer with large beds and private bathroom. Upper dorm is cooler as it got fans attached to beds. I stayed at both rooms but prefer the downstairs. The owners are lovely people and their dogs are the best! The puppy(Kira) and her mum are the nicest dogs ever!
Only downside was upper bathroom where the water pressure doesn't reach much and downstairs dorm is super hot.
