It is a well built and generally well-maintained property, spoiled by being so close to NC 105, from which truck noise and truck fumes make it impossible to enjoy the outside facilities in the middle of the day. The pillows need replacing as they are dirty and old.

This cabin had the most well appointed kitchen I’ve ever seen in a vacation rental. My kids have food allergies so we tend to cook on vacation and I was so blessed by the numerous baking pans, measuring cups/spoons, pots of every size, cutting boards, and tons of kitchen tools. There’s plenty of cutlery, dishes and enough gadgets for a coffee drinker. I thought I’d have to mix my cookies by hand but there was a handheld mixer to use! Such a great surprise. The kitchen dish towels were very water repellent (maybe the housekeeper needs to use less fabric softener) and really didn’t dry the dishes. There was very little hand soap in the bathrooms considering we had nine people staying for a week. That’s just not the kind of thing I think to pack on vacation. We just barely had enough. The housekeeper left an envelope asking for a tip, which irked me considering we paid a cleaning fee and the floors weren’t clean. They were free of debris but when we wiped up something we dropped on the kitchen floor the first night, the paper towel turned dark grey. The driveway has a blind turn and the mirror at the road for it is very difficult to see. It was quite dangerous and nerve wracking each time we had to leave the cabin. The fire pit is lovely, AC in the cabin works really well, and it’s a nice place to stay but the road noise made sitting outside less relaxing.

We were extremely dissatisfied with the cabin. - The description states it sleeps 9 guests, it does not, it sleeps 8. Sofa is not a sofa bed. One of our guests had to sleep on the couch. -The cabin was dirty. All the glasses and plates were dirty. When we tried loading the dishwasher to clean the glassware the dishwasher fell out of the cabinetry. -Went to use one of the extra towels and it was stained. I have pictures. -The extra blankets smelled moldy as if they had not been washed in months. -The worst part though was the roaches in the kitchen. We had to buy roach traps and lay them all around the kitchen. Horrible! -The place is very outdated. Lost power in the kitchen on the second day we were there because we plugged in a toaster in an outlet we shouldn't have! The shower on the first floor was either scalding hot or cold. I mean these are not the conditions you keep a rental property in. -The only positive thing I can write about the cabin is the view. The view is pretty. Needless to stay we will NEVER stay here again and hope the management company/owner updates and exterminates the place.

After much debate on which place to stay, given the pictures and description, we thought this place looked the best. We were sadly mistaken. They wait until the period in which you won’t get your $$ back for you to fill out an additional lease agreement and emails that request the full names and ages of everyone in the party. Nothing makes you feel more on eggshells then signing your life away before staying somewhere. Upon arrival, the place wasn’t clean— crumbs on the table and kitchen, deadbolt wasn’t working on the door, 2 cockroaches in the kitchen, and as we were bringing our items in, our elderly dog fell down the steep wooden stairs to the basement. A few bumps and bruises he ended up being okay, but it worried us with a toddler and 9 year old— we reached out to the property manager asking if they had a barrier or baby gate for safety purposes and they directed us to rent or purchase one. We purchased one and left it at the property out of good faith for anyone else traveling with little ones or fur babies. No soap to wash your hands, the bathroom smelt like urine (the shower curtain was saturated in stains), and when we went to go shower after a long day of travel, the shower was completely broken and the downstairs toilet wasn’t working. Apparently the cleaners flush old soap in the toilet. 7 people and only one working toilet— not ideal. It took them over 48 hours to fix it. No offer of a refund for our inconvenience. Worst place we’ve ever stayed.

I have never traveled and stayed somewhere for Thanksgiving, so this was really exciting for our family. I have always loved Grandfather mountain and Banner Elk, so this was the perfect place when we found it. The cabin is very cozy and comforting. There was plenty of space for all of us. Other than the food and a couple other minor things, we had everything we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving dinner. It was full of household items that you would need on a regular basis (pots/pans, Pyrex, silverware, dishes, coffee pots, etc). They were plenty of towels and washcloths. The hot tub came in handy a few nights. If you were to ask me for any constructive critique's, I would say that the kitchen lighting could be a little better. Unfortunately, the lights above the island kept going in and out and the cabin sits down a small driveway next to a house ( the neighbors were very quiet with the exception of their dogs but we didn’t care because we all have dogs). Other than that I have no complaints and would definitely stay again!

Our stay was good overall, the loudness of the highway from the house was noisier than we anticipated. We did have trouble with the lights staying on and with the AC circulating properly. The code did not work upon arrival (with 3 kids and 2 dogs at 9pm) and the second code given did not work either. The cabin company was very helpful and quick to solve the issue. It was not the cleanest property (a lot of stains on downstairs carpet) but it is pet friendly. Overall we had a good time and the view was pretty!

We had an amazing stay. The cabin is easy to find (the driveway is very steep so be prepared for snow with AWD/4Wd). There is ample parking available and check in was super easy. Communication with the host is fast and thorough. The cabin is very spacious and we really appreciated that there were sufficient furnishings as well with a table that can seat a large party, comfortable living area seating, night stands and lamps in all the bedrooms, etc. The kitchen is beautifully appointed with every pot, pan or small appliance you could need. Plenty of towels, cozy beds/bedding and full laundry room, too. We cooked lots of meals together, played games (there is a nice supply of games provided), and enjoyed the hot tub. The provided binder of local attractions and restaurants was also very handy. I would absolutely choose this property again for a return trip!

The location and property were amazing! The only downside was the driveway is scary to pull out of because it’s on a wooded corner. We loved our stay and property management was excellent. Would definitely stay here again.
