Staff are excellent
Needs a refit

Everything location and the grounds, that beautiful old charm with the building and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Nothing.
4.5
The room was fine, clean and comfortable. Like the rest of the hotel it needs a complete refit as it is undoubtedly looking tired.
The staff were excellent particularly in view of the fact that they all face redundancy as the hotel wiil close on 22 December for an indefinite period. A major refurbishmenmt project will start in January.
In view of the pending refurbishment - nothing

rooms are a little tired, but the sizes are good.

Beautiful setting and building
Super friendly and helpful receptionist
Slow service
Had dinner there . The starter was amazing but the main course seemed like it had been prepared by a different chef and was disappointing!

Staff in breakfast room were pleasant . Food was fine.
Apart from breakfast room staff, the rest looked like they would rather be somewhere else. Room was like a box room, albeit clean .Bar staff need to be trained how to prepare drinks.

This hotel was the highlight of our journey in England. It was more beautiful than I imagined, a gem. The staff was really nice, our room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, the waiters, waitresses had a kind word for everyone. We liked the park with the pond and also the meadow with sheep.
We really felt like home - or even better and want to go back once we are in England again.

location and her majestic garden

beautiful surroundings and garden to walk through. room was clean and comfortable. amazing service at breakfast from a lovely lady who spoke to my girls and looked after us
nothing, for the price and based off other reviews I knew the furnishings would be a little faded. I think the common areas could be a little cosier and reception staff friendlier. when checking in, there was no one else around and it still took the staff member a good 10 seconds to look up and even acknowledge I was there. a simple smile and “I’ll be with you in a minute” would be enough!

Food was excellent and the room very comfortable apart from the bed.
We have stayed here before and have always found the staff very friendly.
The mattress on the bed was very uncomfortable and should be replaced.

The grounds were incredible, beautiful walks and perfect for a trip with dogs.
The hotel itself was not well kept, i understand it is an old building however it didn't feel particularly clean and rooms could be upgraded. Also breakfast was poor, the fruit was old and dry like it had been left out for a long time.

The house and grounds are lovely, and very welcome after a stormy drive from a funeral some distance away. The restaurant was busy in the evening but food arrived quite quickly. Large bathroom with shower over a bath and shower curtain. Tea and coffee facilities in the wardrobe and two armchairs and table.
Upon arrival, we stood for 10 minutes waiting for someone to check us in, even though someone saw us standing there. No one offered to help with suitcases or direct us to a lift. Breakfast service was good-humoured but slow when we needed to check out and get going. Room was very warm overnight even though the radiator was cold. The shower was was feeble.

Could do with a little modernisation

Everything! Charming staff.
More pictures reflecting the unique and fascinating history of the house. And in this day and age, electric charging is becoming a priority.
4.5
location and grounds
noise from water tanks in roof a bit intrusive
4.5
An amazing location, with the possibility to walk through their surroundings.
Attention to detail by the staff.
To be able to enjoy a place with that much history
Some minor details such as lamps, furniture, curtains would need maintenance
3.5
Bar set up for breakfast enabled dog to accompany us. Staff were very attentive and altogether a good environment. Nice grounds, perfect for dog walking/exercise.
Small details in bedroom could be improved e.g. wooden hangers would have been much nicer than plastic; complimentary herbal teas offered. Main lounge for residents felt soulless.

lovely grounds and interior very historic
some areas felt unloved and empty but being the time of year it as to be expected

Beautiful surroundings, you can walk in the woods or by the lake. Nice old building with open fireplace in the reception area
Breakfast. Very small portions with old ingredients. Ordered Vegetarian English Breakfast and it was the smallest one I've ever been served. The mushrooms in it were visibly shrunken. My wife's toast was burnt. The blueberries for our toddler's porridge were shrunken and a few were moldy. Luckily I had asked them to keep them on the side so the porridge wasn't ruined.
Tea and coffee had to be ordered off the menue as there were no tea/coffee station were you could refill.
In general the breakfast was a disappointment.

Too spaced out for older guests
I like to sit on a chair to eat at a table, not a sofa

Lovely hotel in a delightful Cotswold setting. We would definitely consider staying here again. Hotel has lovely grounds. the place is a bit like a National trust property. Breakfast was great - really enjoyed the buffet. We ate in the bar area for dinner and food was better than expected - we don't usually eat dinner in the hotels that we stay at as the food often disappoints, but not here. Huge bedroom and bathroom. We loved the main entrance and grand staircase - and there are lifts too. Plenty of parking space too. There is an interesting history to the property too.
The windows need to be upgraded but in keeping with the grand style of the property. Not much else to say. The place is clearly used frequently for weddings (we saw flowers being delivered as we left) so I guess it is likely to be fully booked at weekends during the summer months.
