spa was only £10 with my stay. staff were very friendly and helpful. break was nice. location was super, next to beautiful peace gardens. restaurants and coffee shops close by.
outside noise was more than expected. curtains had a large burn mark. there was also a clothes hanger stuck on the heater/air con vent.

Breakfast was excellent value for money lots to choose from. The location of the hotel was superb right in the middle of Sheffield in the heart of all of the pubs shops and cafés had an amazing time
Nothing I did not like although it would have been nice to use the pool in with the price of the stay xxx

Excellent location.
Room was a little "tired". Not everything worked correctly in bathroom. Spa facilities cost £10 extra. Although this is stated in the description it's not as clearly written as could be for a "SPA" hotel.

Great location and we got the room for a good price as a last minute deal.
If the room was full price I would have been a little disappointed. The TVs in the room need updating as they are small, old and outdated.

Very convenient in the centre of Sheffield. Lovely room with REALLY comfortable bed. Breakfast was plentiful and served buffet style. Both continental and English available.
That rooms on floor 6 are only served by one lift.

The room and bathroom were clean, comfortable and spacious. The spa facilities were ok. The pool, sauna, steam room and ice room were clean. The hotel receptionists were very helpful and there was abundant tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The view is great.
The spa could be more accessible for those with disabilities. The spa showers seem to have a problem with mould, though this is likely to do with being underground. The extra charge for guests to use the spa is wrong. The TV was small, positioned wrong for the bed and didn't have full Freeview channels.

Location is good
The hotel rooms are outdated and in need of refurb!

Location
The TV, aircon, towel rail do not work. The shower leaked all over the bathroom floor.
Quality of the breakfast has deteriorated whilst the price has increased.
They now charge an extortionate £10 per VISIT per person for the Spa & Pool complex. If you visit in the am and retirn in the pm that £40 a day. Nothing on the website - you are told at check in.

Our room was spotless, and was available when we checked in at midday.
Nothing comes to mind

Great city centre location close to many shops, restaurants and things to see/do.
The pool is now an extra charge of £10 per person per visit which is a rip-off given the premium price of the hotel and because it used to be included! The decor throughout the hotel is getting quite dated and worn. Cleanliness was generally fine except there was half a shrivelled banana(?) underneath our bed!

The night manager on Saturday night (20/04/24) was the only saving grace for this hotel. He listened to our compliant and was very understanding and offered us some complimentary extras, which were very much appreciated after feeling very dismissed from the two gentleman working on reception that day. The bar man I think his name was Dale was very friendly and served us efficiently.
After arriving and checking into our room, we discovered it smelt of smoke. When we spoke with the two men at check in they said they would send someone up but only sent a lady that seemingly came to spray air freshener non even leave us with the can. As me and my fiancé are non smokers we were disappointed with this and he went back down again to ask for a change of rooms. We were then offered another room but unfortunately given a twin room instead of a double! We have never stayed at a Mercure hotel before but were disappointed that the hotel knew the room smelt of smoke as the second room we went to didn't have a dehumidifier like the first one.

Good location and helpful reception staff and management who dealt with some issues we had during our stay in order to resolve them to an acceptable level.
Sadly this is no longer a 4* hotel, more accurately a 3*.
The bedroom photos and description no longer match what is offered. I particularly booked a suite with an extra large double that was listed as 180-200cm. What was in the room was a large double of only 150cm which was very obvious as it was way off centre from the fixed headboard which had clearly been installed when the rooms did have the larger beds. Sadly there was also a lot of dirt and staining in the room.
I had also searched for a hotel that had a spa that was included however this is now no longer included in the price as standard despite being advertised as so on booking.com and is paid for separately. (Reception did resolve this for me).
Sadly the spa experience was grim! We left not long after arriving feeling unrelaxed and like we required antibiotics. It is certainly not a 4* hotel spa and reminded me of the grubby spas attached to council run leisure centres I came across in the 90’s. The spa was dilapidated, tired and uninviting with many issues including that the ceiling was caving in, plaster coming off the walls, lighting was broken, pools of water sitting everywhere that hadn’t been cleared up, black mould growing out of the grouting in the steam room where tiles were missing alongside the whole area being filthy with grime and a build up of muck from not having been adequately cleaned over a considerable period. Staff were apologetic but need higher management to make at least a six figure investment in renovation to bring this spa up to a 4* standard and certainly to a standard where they could even contemplate charging a hotel guest extra to use the facility. Hopefully feedback like this can give the hotel management the ammunition they require to get some investment to bring this hotel back up to an acceptable level for what it is being advertised as.

Great location, lovely hotel, staff were really accommodating and very friendly.
Think the hotel needs to make it clear that the swimming pool and gym area is an additional charge as when you book it says it’s included.
The room was clean but clearly had a leak as the walls where all brown like water had ran down them, the room was very hot as the air conditioning didn’t really work.

Convenient central location a short walk from the station. Very attentive and friendly staff on the bar and at reception. I’m sure we’ll make a return visit soon.

Location. Large bed
Not enough staff on reception. Had to wait a good while to be seen. This happened on more than one occasion.

Very good location, for our planned visit to the Crucible Theatre, to watch Miss Saigon. Friendly staff and nice appearance to the main reception and breakfast eating facilities.
Very expensive and not really worth it for the state of the rooms. Room next to lift and very thin walls, could hear other guests initially. The Spa has a fairly cold swimming pool and no jacuzzi and the Spa facilities are quite dated and need a full clean and refurbishment. Not as good as appears in the photos. Lockers can cause problems and need to climb stairs back to the spa reception on the top floor if they fail. No free parking on site and if you need to book into the Q Car park, ask the hotel for the code for a discount first (MHCS25), or you’ll have to go back, leave the car park and then drive back in if you want to get your 25% off.

The staff were very friendly. The room was well located and very clean.
1. The bed was not very comfortable and the sheets felt cheap and scratchy.
2. There were no robes in the room, so we didn’t understand how we dressed to go to the spa. Do we walk through the lobby in our swimwear?
3. There was an it, ironing board, mini fridge, but no hair dryer??

The location was good.
I must have telephoned over 30 times and emailed twice the day before and on the day of arrival to book an evening meal and ask about parking. On every occasion there was no reply. The welcome message says to direct your call as efficiently as possible which became really frustrating when no one answered. When we arrived the restaurant was full and we were told it is best to phone or email in advance. I explained we did. The receptionist then phoned the restaurant and said despite the chef shouting at her they could offer us a meal but not in the restaurant. We decided to eat elsewhere.
The morning after our stay we heard a tapping sound and water coming through the ceiling of room 533. We took a picture and went downstairs to let reception know. The response was thank you for letting us know. We went for a swim and came back to the room to see the ceiling still leaking water.

Nice breakfast
Nice to have a pool
good view
easy check in and out
Room 503 near lift mechanism so could hear every lift journey.
Guttering seemed to be overflowing all night so the sound of running water was unwelcome.
Twin beds pushed together was also not comfortable.
Sockets on desk make it hard to plug in apple laptop chargers.
Shame to pool was not available in the morning
