Beautiful room in a lovely location, directly across the road from the Museum Gardens. It was a very short walk from the train station to the accomodation, which was very convenient. It is also quite close to York Minster - a must see, as well as walkable from all attractions. Restaurants, cafe's and bars also walkable. Nicely decorated and comfortable.
I recommend asking to not have the room on the ground floor, where we were placed (I think it was #3). As it is right behind the reception area you could hear everyone coming and going as well as conversations being held at the reception desk. The bed was also a bit hard. If it had not been for the placement
/noise of our room I would have given this stay a 10/10.

It’s a cozy place. Unique experience to stay in an ancient place. I liked the room and the staff.
The only problem was that there was no blackout in the room, so, there was too much light in the room in the early morning.
4.3
The location is fantastic! Beautiful, comfortable rooms and very clean. Lovely decor.

This hotel is gorgeous, perfect location, all staff are excellent and helpful. The room was immaculate and they thought of everything from a fan to hot water bottle hanging on back of the door. Wood highly recommend.

Location
Room could have been cleaned daily ,stayed for 3 nights no clean towels toilet roll coffee tea were never replenished .windows in room were awful very small no ventilation, bins were never changed.no room in fridge just properties mini bar temptations .
4.3
Very clean, large room with a lovely comfortable bed. I suffer with allergies and I had a wonderful nights sleep, the room was very fresh and airy. No faults to give at all, we will definitely be back in the future.
Nothing at all.

Very clean, very quirky, great staff. Fantastic location.
Bit costly in the public car park overnight but it was oh so worth it!
4.3
Perfect location opposite some beautiful gardens, unfortunately they shut at 6pm so if you want to walk around into the centre at night you have to walk around the edge , maximum 5 minute walk though :)
Cute little dogs were in reception which was fantastic as I love dogs , super friendly , would definitely stay again.
Asked for another fan as we were in a ground floor room and it was boiling , unfortunately there wasn’t one the reception could give me so it was extremely warm! It cooled down by midnight so it was okay after that!
Would of preferred a few more pillows as you only get given 2 each, other than that couldn’t fault anything :)

The rooms are small but lovely with a large comfortable bed. My room looked out over the Abby ruins and entrance to the gardens, it was a wonderful way to wake up. There was also a coffee pod machine in the room. All the main York attractions were close, but the street was quiet.
Very little not to like. The room is small but fine for one person, or a couple. Everything else was perfect.
4.3
comfy beds, great location close to city centre, great to have a fridge in the room.
bathroom could be spruced up - felt a little bit run down.

Loved the free sweets and the tea/coffee on offer in the room. I didn’t have anything from the mini bar but it was very well stocked with a great selection on offer. I loved the Nordic vibe of the hotel. It was lovely and would really like to return some day!

Our room was clean and looked precisely like in the picture! The bed was very comfortable, and we found everything we needed in our room. The staff was friendly and helpful. They even brought my phone to the room - I left it at the reception desk. We had a lovely view of a park and a church. The centre is close to the accommodation. There is also a nearby car park, pubs and shops. We will visit again. :)

Everything!!!! Superlative hospitality! Clean, charming and so convenient!

I loved how big the rooms were that me and my Mam stayed in, we had a deluxe/luxury room each and they were huge! No baths but beautiful showers. When you first walk into the hotel as well it gives positive vibes instantly as it smells nice and was all cosy with the Christmas tree and decorations.
Unfortunately the TV didn't work in my Mam's room, I didn't try in mine. It kept going off, buffering and just not working. Dan, the kind receptionist was very helpful and he tried to get it to work but he isn't a magician. He did offer us free continental breakfast. I also wasn't a fan of one of the women staff (glasses, brown hair in a ponytail), who wasn't shy about asking the receptionist if room 6 was free so she could use the fire escape stairs to smoke as it was raining outside. The cleanliness of the rooms wasn't great either, dust in the bathroom where the radiator was, hairs that weren't mine. I just think if you're paying that much money for a room, you want everything to be spotless.

Shower was great, TV was massive, location is excellent. Nice decor.
Nice, friendly staff, but didn't really have much interaction.
Second time staying at this hotel.
Jorvik house describes itself as luxury, and judging it on that headline, I would say there are a few areas that could be better:
Carpet was threadbare
Paint flaking off walls in ensuite
Room was terribly hot
Bed lumpy and uncomfortable (I ached all over every morning)
No turn-down service even in 3 night stay
Previous guests empty biscuit packets, hair accessories under bed
Lot of noise coming from other rooms
They don't accept Monzo, Revolut, Starling bank cards etc for room holding
Had workmen in sanding exterior walls and it was VERY loud. We usually nap in the day, and couldn't. We were not aware before our arrival that this would be happening either.

The three principal strengths of Yorvik House were: (i) its location on Marygate opposite the old walls of the City, and an entrance to York Museum peaceful gardens and through the latter to the heart of the City and its attractions; (ii) the fact that it is itself part of the historic fabric of York in a quiet street alongside the remains of the original St Mary's Abbey; and (iii) its kind and efficient staff. It also has a back route to the Railway Station which takes 7 minutes by foot and avoids city traffic.
We could have been disappointed that it doesn't do a traditional full English breakfast in a dining-room; but it organises and delivers from a nearby bakery pastries, cereals and bacon butties! In any case, within a few hundred yards beyond the ancient walls are situated a wide range of eateries catering for every need.

Very clean and the Amenities
-lots of tea, cocoa and biscuits-is a lovely and welcoming touch. The rooms are clean and the beds are high-quality and linen soft.
We liked everything!-our 3rd stay here

Cosy room, comfortable bed and pillows, bath in the room. TV with Netflix etc, rainfall shower. Nice location with long stay car park a street behind. Over all a very comfortable stay.
Big gap between carpet and tiles for bath area, room was very cold even with heating on full. When we have stayed in other boutique hotels for similar price point there have been more attention to detail ie robes, bubble bath for the bath in the room, more than 2 towels as had to use the same towel for the bath and then shower the next morning.
4.3
Convenient location , no mess check in just easy
Room was slightly warm no natural light

Location
Poor quality of carpet as was damaged, room was in need of decor tlc and in some places not clean. Corner of bedding was ripped, picky I know but you advertises luxury accommodation

We were upgraded to a fantastic room on the top floor. It had a really comfortable bed, fridge, kettle and coffee pod machine. The bathroom was fantastic with a large shower and a slipper bath. Everything was done really well and we enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay again.

Decor and cleanliness were great. In room options for drinks and snacks were plentiful. Quiet room and a good nights sleep.
Not much choice for breakfast. What we had was delicious… however I’m an egg girl in the morning and this wasn’t available. I’m also happy to go continental and croissants!
4.3
Perfect location, gorgeous hotel and rooms. Very comfortable beds!
Wish there was soap in the bathroom as well as shower gel
4.3
Beautifully decorated, clean and cosy. Staff were fantastic.
The only issue with our stay was the very loud roadworks outside the hotel but this should not reflect badly on the hotel as it was out of their control.
4.3
Great location and cozy rooms. Lovely decor and great power shower.
Mattress and pillows could be more comfortable, also not much room to put clothes. Windows were only single glazed so could hear the road a bit.
4.3
Great location that was close to the city centre. Roadworks meant that we had to park a bit further away but that can’t be helped and is no fault of the hotel. The hotel and room had lovely decor - absolutely loved the Moomin art! Well stocked minibar and complimentary toiletries.
The minibar was a bit overpriced, the wifi was very slow and the bed could’ve been a tad comfier but they didn’t affect our stay at all.
4.3
Loved the style and was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was perfect.
The room we stayed in was in a corner part of the house so slightly smaller. The bathroom was quite small with a low ceiling and my partner is quite tall so did not fit under the shower and myself only just. Appreciate that this is just the luck of the room but everything else was great!
4.3
lovely modern rooms
4.3
A lovely place to stay ideal for the city centre, lovely helpful staff.
Absolutely nothing
