The Location and The Building so lovely
The cost of a cup of tea in the lounge. £15 for 3 cups of tea!
4.3
The staff were lovely and great location
It was clean, however could be better, little attention to detail.

Middletons is located in a quiet area but not far (by foot) from the centre of York. Parking (on-site) was a boon as, once settled, we could make forays to attractions in York. Breakfast good.
4.3
The building had character, rooms modern and comfortable with nice toiletries, coffee and tea. Short walk to the city centre.
Nothing.
4.3
Breakfast was very good
4.3
Lovely suite with high quality fixtures and furnishings. Excellent breakfast, good quality local produce. Staff extremely friendly, helpful and professional.
4.3
Amazing rooms with super comfortable beds, the staff were all really friendly and welcoming. We had a couple of drinks in the bar which was a warm comfy place and easy to relax in.
Nothing.
4.3
Brilliant location, bar and restaurant facilities very good.
Bedroom needs updating.

Location was walking distance to city centre. Room nicely decorated, but no lifts. Which is fine until they ‘forget’ to take your cases to your room as promised. And you get not offer of help to lug them up 2 flights of narrow stairs.
Service - sadly the service does not match the building. Staff ignore you… we ordered some fizz and chocolates for our anniversary. They delivered the same package again the next day, which we thought maybe was complementary for our 25th anniversary ☺️. Fortunately we checked before we consumed them as it turns out they double charged us. No apology - we just left them in room and they took them off the bill. It was just hassle we didn’t need. Breakfast was chaos, tables waiting for ages to be served (you pre-book time slot, so no excuse) noisy builders on roof swearing and throwing debris.
A real shame as hotel is actually quite nice, but staff need a little more charisma and coaching in customer service. Overpriced and not the service you should expect for a 4*.

The location was perfect, the setting was lovely and the rooms was just right. Fab hotel!

location was great, the room was very, very small.
in fact you had problems use the bathroom, as it was just too small.
The gentleman on reception was very good, the gentlemen on the bar was excellent .
The rest of the staff just did not care, in one case quiet rude
staffs attitude (most of them)
The size of the room, mainly the bathroom

Aesthetically beautiful property, well located around everything in York and excellent service & amenities. Great value for money.
Nothing really. If I had to be nit picky, I would have liked to know the availability of parking beforehand, but it is a difficult task.
4.3
Was close to city centre
The food was not up to standard. Sandwiches and cake tasted stale and my partner did not enjoy his lunch
Was not informed prior tk stay the cost of the parking
4.3
Great location - quiet, but close enough to be able to walk to the centre easily - good off-road parking, small - but spotlessly clean room, friendly and helpful staff. Stayed here before, and will hopefully do so again.

Location
The room was freezing heating had not been turned on needed additional heaters room not cleaned on second day when returned breakfast poor

Lovely hotel close to city centre. Car parking a bonus, although £12.50/day was very expensive. Rooms are in annexes around main hotel. Rooms are large, comfortable and very clean. Had to turn heating off in room as it was much too warm and was on all night. Breakfast was good with great choice. Breakfast staff were friendly and efficient.
Restaurant menu was disappointing. Only chose starter and cheese board as I did not find the Mains very appealing. On the one night we dined in restaurant, not sure what was going on, but for majority of time there was only one member of staff to wait on several tables and for most of the evening there was no staff in the restaurant. Hence service was very slow.

The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. We had to change the date of our stay, and they made it all so easy.
They can't change this - but the bathrooms are tiny.
4.3
Interesting hotel with attractive outside areas in a fantastic situation a few minutes' walk to the city centre. The rooms were beautifully appointed with the best tea tray I've ever encountered, iron and ironing board and many unexpected extras like free water and proper milk in the fridge, a selection of games in the lounge and gorgeous shower gel etc. in the bathroom. Staff couldn't have been friendlier either.
Found the shower a bit tricky to use: the smaller shower head wasn't attached to the wall so had to be handheld which wasn't ideal.
4.3
Room was well appointed and attractively decorated.
I had a lovely evening meal with my friends.
The sink was very small, only useful for washing hands. A towel rail between the sink and shower would be useful as there is nowhere to hang a wet bath towel.
It would be good to be able to order a drink and croissant/toast for breakfast rather than have to pay a lot for a big breakfast that I didn't want.

The suite was nicely decorated and clean
We were unhappy with the small size of the bathroom in particular, there were various other niggles such as the air con grille partially hanging from the ceiling, the toilet seat was loose and unstable, luckily we were able to tighten it ourselves but this should have been highlighted by cleaning staff!
We had previously stayed in an executive room, which was amazing, beautiful large bathroom and bedroom, so we don't feel this suite, at more expense, was value for money

Middleton is gorgeous! The setting and surroundings are lush and beautiful, and the old historic buildings are renovated in the latest updates. It is conveniently located for easy walking anywhere in York, but distanced from the city noise. The food is delicious and exquisitely prepared. It is my favorite place to stay!
I really can't think of anything not to like!

the location, the building’s history , the atmosphere
the bathroom water had a bad smell

The suite was great, nice comfortable bed and sofa, nice details of snacks and beverages. Staff were wonderful, a special holiday.

The rooms were very clean and very well equipped

Great food and staff lovely. Our room was on the top floor and we were moved the next day to a ground floor as we didn’t realise there was no lift. We were moved without fuss and our bags taken to our new room for us.
Our second room was a little tired and small. But appreciated the change of room

Location is excellent for accessing the city, lovely warm room, and excellent breakfast..
4.3
Great location lovely rooms and good food
Paying for parking but do understand why you charge
4.3
Very nice room with tea, coffee, biscuits provided, good shower and plenty of space in the room. It was nice to have good sized mugs for tea/coffee, rather than small cups. Reception staff were all very friendly and helpful and were able to store our luggage for us safely before check in/check out. The hotel was within easy walking distance to the centre.
The room was a bit cold for the first couple of hours we were in it, but after turning the heating up high for a while, it was nice and warm.
4.3
Beautiful spacious room full of character, attention to detail with clean fluffy robes and even sleep spray, good amount of tea/coffees with fresh milk supplied in mini fridge. Staff very helpful and friendly. Tasty breakfast options, so nice to have choice over usual full english. Would absolutley recommend a stay.
