nothing
room freezing cold, no heating when temperature was 2-3 degrees
room smelly, no towels, no hot water at the sink.

The hotel is what you expect for the price, it was clean and safe and overall I slept fine. It is located perfectly centrally if you want to get around town.
The lack of parking availability was quite annoying (after trip advisor told me there was parking). The noise was quite bad, this hotel is located in a very noisy area.

Great location, okay price.
Very cold, a small heater in the room barely helped matters.

Allowed to check in from 11am. This allowed me to leave my bag in the room before I went to St James park at 3pm. Bed was comfy. I had researched the hotel before. Doing so made me comfortable with staying there. You get three codes for the hotel doors through a message on booking.com. It's right in the centre of Newcastle and for £40 it was worth a one night stay.
Using codes for the doors is annoying when you have takeaway with you haha. Shower is ok but no towel but I'd brought my own. The room needs a bit of tlc and money spent on it. Not entirely sure it is cleaned well

Right in the centre of the city, walk to everywhere. Room was up one flight of stairs and was very secure with 2 coded doors to get through to your room (3 after 8pm). Shower was very good after the great north run!
Bed’s mattress was dipped on one side so had to be careful rolling over. Had to buy toilet roll, and there was no toilet brush. But not something that I was too phased about.

The bed was okay. the toilet was clean. That’s about it.
Not enough room to swing a cat. No towels. Bed creaky and unstable. Was advised as a hotel but was a hostel.

We are precious travellers, our expectation is to simply get what you pay for, anything else is a bonus - with this in mind, our overall experience with this property was poor and we wouldn't recommend.
This hostel is advertised as a 'hotel' on booking.com which is very misleading and very much over priced for the facilities/room provided. If it was advertised as a hostel I would never have booked, as travelling with 2 young children, the property was not suitable at all. Felt unsafe, no reception or anyone onsite, the door to the room didn't close properly at times and it was a constant worry if someone could open during the night. The main entrance to the building had a safety code on the door but with a small business located on the bottom floor, the entrance to the building was wedged open all the time, leaving the property accessible to anyone. The bunk beds creaked badly and we all slept badly. Do not expect to have a good night sleep here! We had to leave the window open as the room was sooooo small and stuffy, this then let in all the street noise and being located right in town, this didn't die down to the early hours of the morning.
The man who ran the property was great, communicated very well and was accommodating in letting us check out in timing with our train the next day.
No towels or toiletries provided or an option to hire/buy. We were going to stay in Newcastle 2 nights but after the 1st nights experience, we simply decided to jump the train back to London and cut our losses.
Correct advertising on booking.com would have avoided the poor experience, very misleading about property. Safety doors were not shut at all times. Towels/soap non existent. Plastic cups to have drink of water during the night would have been good. Somewhere to put/hang clothes/bags ie chair - there is nothing in the room but bunk beds.

Very central location.
No staff onsite. Strong smell of damp. I wasn’t expecting the world, it was cheap digs for a couple of nights in Newcastle but I felt it could do with a bit of maintenance. Bin not emptied between guests. No towels provided.

The location
If I could give 0, I would. The room was dirty and unsafe. Broken bathroom floor tiles, broken door handle, hairs and bugs on the mattress, dust everywhere, non PAT tested electricals, dangerous extension leads, no towel or cups, communal entrance latched open, strong smell of sewage in the bathroom, strong smell of urine and cigarette smoke in the corridor. I could go on. When I asked for a refund after only staying one out of my two nights, the hotel replied with hostility, stating that they were aware of the 'decor' and are due a refit in September, (none of this is mentioned when booking). They refused to award me with any compensation. I appreciate that this is a cheap hotel however cleanliness and safety should never be compromised. AVOID! I've stayed in similarly priced places in Newcastle with absolutely no issues. Stay somewhere else.
