Fabulous location but transformed from the pub which was an intenive but lively/slightly chaotic local social centre I remembered when I lived at 19 Coreless Cottages, Dolphinholme less than 0.5 km away from 1967 to 1970, where I had my first daughter. We frequented the Fleece regularly, as it was the place to meet the locals (we were incommers as I was teaching and researching at the very new Lancaster University just moving onto the Balrig site from town). So as soon as my daughter could walk; before the age of 1! in nappies, my daughter set off for the Fleece. The neighbouring farmer spotted her and brought her back before calling his cows for milking. We had been frantically looking for her, but did not think she could have even reached the road over the cobbles outside our back door. She asserted she was going to THE PUB! So some fantastic revisiting of an important stage in my life and a delightful walk by the Wyre, to complete an old triangle of route too and from the Fleece. The food, evening and breakfast was fantasticly good - tjotally excellent and they fitted us in in the evening thought they were incredibly busy.
It was an excellent and very comfortable room with a wonderful bathroom, complete with both bath and walk in shower, so delightful that it seems churlish to complain about anything. But I had forgotten to charge my toothbrush before leaving home, so I wanted to plug its charger in, but there wasn't a suitable shaver socket. My wife would have liked some handcream and paper hankies as well, but although there was really good soap, shampoo, etc. there wasn't any handcream. Maybe only in that room. We'll have to go back to check the other rooms, enjoy more of the exceptional menu, more local beautiful walks and some time in the beer garden enjoying the delightful friendly atmosphere.

Everything. A wonderful traditional English pub with gorgeous rooms. A fabulous garden to sit in for drinks and dinner if the weather is good. Staff were fantastic. Happy, and a joy to be around. Food was amazing. There is even a little farm shop selling local produce. It is one of the best places I have stayed for a countryside break. We are already planning to return.
Absolutely nothing.

This is a beautiful old inn. the rooms are exceptionally comfortable with tasteful high quality soft furnishings and bed-linen.
The food in the pub restaurant is first class with an unusual and varied menu. Great wines and beers etc. The staff are very friendly and welcoming as well as accommodating.
The breakfasts are fabulous with lots of local fresh produce. It is located very close to the M6 so great to break your journey north/south. Would highly recommend.
Cant fault it.

lovely staff, amazing food, great location for travelling and stop over nights, comfy bed, nice bath, easy to access rooms, lovely pub garden
the pillows weren’t that comfy, the room was very noisy with people drinking right outside the room. next time I’d go for an upstairs room to avoid this.
