The highlights for me are the owner (she is very friendly, hospitable and helpful) and the property’s onsen (wonderful after skiing). It is a comfortable and inviting place and I always enjoyed the Western / Japanese breakfast which changed everyday.
I was happy using the shared bathroom facilities but recognise that some will not. The room was warm but the heater a little noisy though it didn’t stop me sleeping well.

The land lady and was so welcoming and helpful and I feel loved during the trip (female solo traveller). Amazing breakfast!!!! And she recommended me many places and ski lift tickets and onsen. The photos did not do the place justice. Definitely go back again!

Perfect location half way between main gondola and the village - couple of hundred metres from each. traditional ryokan - shared toilets on bedroom floor, onsen downstairs (only open in evenings). Breakfast was fantastic - mostly japanese in style, and different every day. Staff dont speak english but were absolutely lovely, very helpful and accommodating. Buy your lift passes (cash only) through them - cheaper. They will also give you vouchers for ski gear hire, the spa centre and private onsen centre around town. Helpful with restaurant bookings. Gave us a lift to the bus station on our last day. Good drying room with external entrance for all the ski gear. A simple ryokan, family run, but my favourite place we have stayed in Japan. My boys, pre-teens, declared it their favorite too.
Nothing. Loved it.

The perfect family owned and run property, beautiful helpful people with amazing location close the gondola. Facilities are basic however that adds to the charm, has its own Onsen downstairs, PERFECT😀

Fantastic location balanced nicely with a short uphill walk to the gondola and a short downhill walk to the main part of the town. Room was larger than I expected for Japanese mountain hotel. Large drying room for both gear and clothes with a separate street side entrance. Easy to use large parking lot next to the Hotel.
Breakfast was a little later than I would prefer to be able to eat and still make it up to the gondola by opening time.

Authentic Japanese breakfast that varied slightly daily! They would cook dinner for you too if you ordered in advance but there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. If you are bringing your own skis, this place is great bc closer to the gondola than the places a couple blocks down the hill. Cozy sitting room with wood burning stove, couches, and rocking chair. They gave us send-off snacks when we departed.
Our teens stayed in a tatami room but there was not one available online for my husband and me. However, the place was pretty much empty, so I don't understand why we couldn't. They probably would have switched us if we had asked -- the hosts are very nice -- but we didn't want to go to the trouble at that point. Also, the onsen was a bit too hot for us, but that may be what Japanese tourists are looking for. NO YUKATA or pajamas provided - so bring your own.

We had a great visit! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the location was excellent both for nearby restaurants and for ski rental. We were able to buy ski lift tickets from the reception for 10% off and walk a short distance to the ski rental shop which also offered 10% off for guests of this hotel. The heat in the room worked very well and the beds were comfortable after a long day of skiing.

The location was excellent. The owners were the sweetest couple and made sure we had everything we needed.
The dry room was a little damp and didn’t fully dry ski boots, but there was quite a lot of gear and only one heater.

The location is perfect. It's very clean and cosy. The staff is absolutely adorable. I injured my knee while skiing and they called the hospital and also took me by car to the bus station. They also gave me small gifts. The small onsen in the property is also an awesome amenity.

I liked the location, the cleanliness and heart-warming staff.
They have a small Onsen that is also very good, clean and practical.
The separate toilet. It was very clean and comfortable, I just don't like very much this type of layout.
