Perfect guesthouse for a cozy stay. We appreciated the large room and the private veranda. The view from the verandah over the Mekong is simply fantastic. We would have liked to stay much longer.
The accommodation is quiet and clean. The location is perfect: in the quiet part and yet not far from restaurants.
It is possible to book tickets for onward travel. Boats pick you up directly from the guesthouse.

Perfect bungalows by the river! So comfy and cosy, home away from home.

Amazing location right on the river for a few chilled days.
Great large terrace with hammocks & a fan which was needed.
Lovely family, who helped/took us on a tour to the waterfalls.
Refillable water station for free.
Great air con in the room.
Great laundry service for an additional fee.
A fridge in the room would be helpful.
Wi-Fi was patchy at times.
We stayed 5 nights & they didn’t offer to clean the room, so it wasn’t clear if we needed to ask for this.

Highly recommend Dokchampa Guesthouse for anyone staying in the 4000 Islands of Laos. A short walk from the ferry drop off point on Don Khone it has everything you need to relax and unwind on the river.
The riverside rooms are very clean, very spacious and very peaceful. The airconditioning was excellent after some hot days riding bikes to waterfalls and exploring Don Det island which is within walking distance across the bridge.
The hammocks, on the balcony overhanging the river, were the perfect spot to enjoy the stunning sunsets and relax reading a book.
We ate nearly every meal at the Guesthouse restaurant and were extremely appreciative of our host who cooked every meal from scratch and it was all very tasty and fresh and always plenty of great, cheap Beer Lao to relax in the afternoons.
Super well-located, very friendly and homely, great food and just an excellent spot to relax and unwind. We wish we could have stayed a few days longer to soak up the chill vibes.

Nice, big, clean room with a lovely terrace over the river, with a fan, hammock and table. Good food. Air-condition. Close to the Don Kon Pier and other restaurants and bike rental opportunities.
Very low water pressure.
Only two bottles of water at arrival, not every day, and no fridge in the room, but easy to buy cold drinks in the reception.

Nice room with lovely glazed wall facing out onto the Mekong with 2 hammocks to relax the day away.
Quite far away from Don Det which required a 20 minute cycle, although we did know the other island required this. Water pressure for shower was very weak which made showering a long process.

+ Room was big and terrace was overlooking the Mekong.
+ Water cooker facility in the room, but no tea bags (luckily we brought our own).
- Total lack of hygiene standard; walls full of spots, water pressure non-existing, you can’t wash your hands and properly.
- So much noise we hardly slept during our 3 night stay; people shouting, motor/scooters passing by as you are direct near the road (no garden!), dogs crying under our floor, roosters waking up at 3 AM, hard disco beats from Don Det (we stayed at Don Khone to avoid the party scene).
- Lao suffered heavily from Covid, but they didn’t take the time to work on improvement of their facilities. Actually it is one big mess with hardly any facilities and comfort while there is so much potential. Compared to the Mekong Delta area in Vietnam this is 180° different and therefore a bit of a disappointment.

The rooms were next to the river with the outside private covered deck over the river with great views facing west. This is a great place to hang out in the hammocks during the heat of the afternoon and take in the river life and view the sun set. Room and bed very comfortable and reasonably clean. The husband and wife team (and assistants) that run the guesthouse and restaurant were very helpful. The restaurant serves up mainly traditional Lao food but the breakfast options included yogurt with muesli and pancakesThe husband actually works for Green Paradise and can arrange bicycles, boat tours, transportation, etc. The area is relatively quiet, especially after 2100. Overall, I would say that this was great value.
All acceptable and, for the price, met expectations.

Most amazing stay. Perfect location, great views from the hammocks overlooking the water! Delicious food at the restaurant too, we ate there everyday and it was easily some of the best food we've had in Laos!

The terrace with the hammock is the best place in Don Khone!
Everything was good

Very friendly staff. Nice room with balcony on the Mekong.
In the superior room (which is very nice) there is really missing a wardrobe or shelves to store clothes and other personal items.... there would be enough space to put a wardrobe or else.

Super beautiful room. Clean and well equipped. Magic view, ammocks in the terrace. The family is kind and helpful, the restaurant is great ans super clean. Higly recomanded!
