Very good situation. A very nice, large home suitable for a family stay. On first inspection nice bedrooms and comfortable sofa and dining area.
This property is not properly maintained and as such left me with concerns for safety. Lovely big garden but totally wild (knee high grass and brambles scratching car on entry) broken garden furniture. All the floors/ carpets were so badly stained/marked you could not tell if it was clean or not. Mould in bathrooms and one toilet constantly flushing with a door that didn't close - making this bedroom completely unusable. Boiler looked like a bodge job and no gas safety cert even after requesting it from the management. Smell of overheating wires when bedroom lights left on.

Location was the only good point
First thing we noticed upon entering was the damp smell. Boiler did not work, so no hot water or heating. phoned for help, no one called back. The owners are based in London, communication was poor & slow. WIFI did not work. There was damp in many places downstairs, watermarks on bedroom ceilings, Questionable electrics in one en suite. Carpets looked disgusting. The house was generally tried & neglected. The photos on booking.com do not reflect the condition of the property. Plus we had to wait over 3 weeks for our deposit to be refunded. We really should have asked for a partial refund.
I would have left this review sooner but I already had very little faith we were going to get our deposit back.

Large communal areas. Friendly neighbourhood cat.

Lovely spacious house with plenty of room, well-equipped kitchen. Great location, handy for the bus into the city centre.
The house could do with a lick of paint and having the carpets cleaned - it’s fairly worn out in places. Also the garden is a bit overgrown! Tea towels in the kitchen would have been handy, we had to use a bath towel to dry the washing up!
3.5
Location is excellent for access to Cambridge centre and Folk festival. Good parking. Comfortable with well equipped kitchen, plenty of sitting areas including lovely conservatory, dining area and settees. Beds were comfortable, clean new bed linen and towels.
Hot water was plentiful once we found heater controls.
There was no instructions on how turn on hot water. I had to look in every cupboard before I found the controls. Fortunately it is a very similar system to the one I have at home so I was able to use it without any instructions. The internet and the TV didn't work. Again there were no instructions.
The decor is very tired (walls, carpets etc) but the curtains are good.
The bathrooms/toilets are clean but the plugholes need treating with drain cleaner. One bath plug backed up and one bathroom smelled of drains. A couple of the toilet seats are fitted incorrectly. The property met our requirements but it's quite expensive for what it is, so I will look around for possible alternatives next year.

I liked garden and the sun room, house was spacious and definitely benefits from being a detached private property.
3.5
Plenty of space for all guests, easy check in, great location and plenty of parking! Beds were comfortable with clean bedding.
Improvements could be made to bring it up to a nicer finish. Marked walls, holes in walls and water damage etc.

Location was a little further out of town, than anticipated, but well connected. Very spacious and warm.
Could have been slightly cleaner.

great property, very spacious and clean.
size, decor,

big, warm.
toiletries were not provided except for hand wash. had to rush out and buy body soap n shampoo, which was an inconvenience. only one room had a mirror out of a total of 6 rooms. . i have reminded the staff over and over again about putting in mirrors. we are a wedding party and it was mayhem trying to get ready whilst queuing for that one mirror. the staff kept promising to look into it but no one actually bothered to make sure the issue was resolved. also there was garbage full of alcohol bottles on the ground next to the driveway. Cleanliness of kitchen and the utensils were not at par.
3.5
good size
wasn’t well maintained, lots of broken things, damp, needed a very good deep clean. dishwasher broken

The size of the rooms we're good, towels provided and little gifts chocolates booze etc was a nice surprise, plenty of parking. Good service from staff, electric heating was provided quickly, rubbish cleared
Heating did not work it was very cold we had an 85 year old and under 5's, had to have electric heaters, these were brought to the house within hours of reporting, dishwasher not working properly, dishes in the cupboard dirty. floors were very stained looked dirty. Seating could be better. We moved sofa from the conservatory into dinning room and moved table and chairs into the conservatory made more sense for space. The whole house needs some attention replace flooring.

there were lots of bedrooms and space in the house. location was perfect for us too

Queen Edith Place is great for a group staying. Further to its number of bedrooms it has abundant space in a vast living room plus conservatory. And a nice garden. A generous, relaxing atmosphere. Really nice.
Unfortunately the place wasn't clean, floors and surfaces were unpleasantly sticky.
The internet didn't work. Albeit toing and froing of a number of Emails nothing happenend to fix it.
That was very disappointing.
A few door locks didn't wirk properly.

location good nice beds and clean . lovely kitchen and garden
awful bathrooms. terrible tiling. missing shelf, seats wobbly , light wouldn’t turn off in shower room upstairs.
TV didn’t work. tried to get help but none available. was poor internet.
lack of mirrors in bedrooms .

No time constraints
Was told the day before an enginee could be there when we were there

Location was great, loads of parking, lovely comfy clean beds spacious rooms! Good socialising space, didn’t hear from any of the neighbours! Loads of clean towels and spares.
We couldn’t get the TV to connect to the internet, we didn’t let the host know at the time but so they didn’t have an opportunity to fix it!
Carpets and flooring a little grubby but it’s clearly a rental only and not someone’s home so you can accept that! Bathrooms need refreshing they were clean but in need of a refresh so looked grubby…
The decking outside is appalling and extremely dangerous especially in the dark there’s foot sized holes through the rotten wood right outside the doors into the garden
No keys for the windows to open them as it was warm!
3.5
Excellent location for festival and buses into town centre, good kitchen facilities, clean bedrooms/linen, comfy beds, excellent parking, large garden
One toilet out of action, decking in garden area rotten making it a trip hazard
3.5
The house is very spacious and comfortable.
3.5
The location. The communal areas were great and all very clean and comfortable.
The only thing i think it needs is mirrors in the bedrooms, would make getting ready in the morning easier
3.5
The location is great; near to town, near to a bus stop and near (ish) to a few supermarkets. It was also very quiet.
The house is really big and there are ample bedrooms and bathrooms.
The beds are comfortable, there was parking on the property for 3-5 cars and the heating worked well (it was cold outside).
The key safe was easy to get into.
The main bathroom shower was powerful and hot (the other showers were not).
There was a decent amount of furniture and storage.
The television and WiFi worked well.
The house had clearly been recently cleaned - the bed linens were clean and the surfaces had been wiped down. Some areas could have been attended to however.
There was enough toilet roll.
Overall the maintenance and general upkeep of the property is lacking. On arrival the front garden / drive is tatty and there was rubbish perhaps from previous guests dotted around on the ground (and the bins were full).
There were weeds growing up from the paving and there were broken solar lights etc. Just generally quite shabby.
This continued inside with the main hallway / staircase carpet being very stained, along with the lino in the kitchen. The curtains in the front large bedroom were half hanging off and very difficult to close and open. Many of the door handles were loose or broken. The kettle was absolutely encrusted with limescale. There were no coffee pods for the machine and no tea bags (only old earl grey and camomile). There were no scissors in the property and although having 2 fridge-freezers may be handy for some guests one of them is situated right in a pathway from the kitchen to the small dining table area.
The kitchen tap is very loose and wobbles when you turn the faucet lever.
We had requested a travel cot and we could not find it anywhere so had to call Stay Beyond who told us to look around in cupboards for it and we eventually found it unopened in a box in the cupboard under the stairs.
There were a handful of broken lights in the property and some of the plug outlets in some of the bedrooms did not work.
The patio doors from the living area to the conservatory couldn't be closed properly.
There were no coasters available and all tables / surfaces were white and prone to staining!
There were no cloths at all so we had to buy some in order to wipe down the kitchen after use.
One of the oven dials was broken (on the right hand side) and it was hard to tell whether it was on or off.
As it was winter we didn't use the garden but as other reviewers have mentioned the decking is very slippery and broken and unsafe (and installed inadequately - it doesn't seem to have a foundation, just straight on top of lawn).
3.5
plenty of room for our family of five, good bedrooms, kitchen well stocked
an extra full length mirror would have been handy as we were getting ready for graduation
3.5
That we had a large living space to
Sit together
That curtains didn’t close properly, stains all over carpet, broken kitchen equipment, windows didn’t close, mould around windows, couldn’t open bedroom door so people actually got stuck in, no locks on bathroom …. The list goes on!
3.5
The property has some lovely spaces. The conservatory is spacious and light. This was a family gathering and these spaces were ideal for us to enjoy time together.
The beds were really comfortable and linen provided was fine.
The property is a little tired in places e.g. stained carpets and weeds in the front garden. It also lacks certain basics such as hanging space and mirrors. We were staying for a wedding so these things were of importance for us. A mirror in each bedroom and hangers over each bedroom door would simply but dramatically improve what's currently on offer.
There were also things like sink plugs missing! C'mon! And the broken, tiny ironing board! These things are very easy to put right.
Loo roll was minimally provided and we had to buy more and considering we were out for much of the time that seemed a bit unreasonable having been advertised as provided.
3.5
Amazing space, cannot fault this. Beautiful location. The property is amazing and I will book this again as the price was very good for our stay duration. Loved the big cooker, although I didnt get a chance to use it. The layout is also amazing.
The property needs abit of TLC. The front garden and rear needed maintenance. Looks like it hasn't been done for some time. The internal decor needs updating. Couple of the furniture was worn out. One of the ensuite has had a bad tiling job done, even the vynl flooring was loose. Experienced a number of bits, you need pest control out.
3.5
Lovely large house, very suitable for 9 people - spacious, light conservatory for use as a main sitting room, decent sized bedrooms, several en suite bathrooms, decent sized double cooker for a large group, 2 full size fridge freezers and well crockery and kitchen wear. Painted white throughout giving a clean, modern, fresh feeling. Nice modern decor. Close to Cambridge - we got taxis to and from the city but buses would have been fine too.
Some things need sorting out - other people have complained but still not resolved eg Wifi MUST be upgraded (we missed some important football matches due to this), outside wooden patio is dangerous (slippery and broken) and needs replacing, door handle on bunk bed bedroom wont open from inside (so locked in), no hooks for hanging anything in the bedrooms and bathrooms.
Beware of the neighbours - they complained about the noise at 22:15 on a Friday. Luckily we were all in bed by 22:30 each night. Not suitable for a large group wanting to party and stay up till late - this is a quiet residential street which was fine for our 1 family group.
3.5
The rooms were a good size and a lovely quiet location not too far from the center. Good showers. A cat came to visit who was very friendly
No hanging facilities except in 1 bedroom. No downstairs toilet. No facility for a meal together if used to it’s designed capacity. A few lose fittings and marks.unfrosted glass in the bathroom. Decking was dangerous as it had a hole and some planks were very soft.
3.5
Location, cleanliness
Everything about the property is excellent except that door handles at ground floor were faulty which could not be sorted during our stay.
3.5
Very spacious with very good amenities.
3.5
Spacious property. Justin at Staybeyond was the only member of staff that provided consistency in communication and updates on issues. Thank you Justin.
Arriving at the property and being asked to delay arrival due to long-term tenants moving out. Tenants turning up to the property asking to pick-up mail and parcels.
The property was filthy, with pet hair all over the house. Washing machine broken; grass not cut, weeds everywhere; cigarette butts and lager bottles in the plant pots; outdoor chairs broken and outdoor deck slippy; washing line broken; carpets filthy; door handles broken leaving people locked in bedrooms for 15 minutes; rear of sofas filthy; dog excriment all over the front and back lawns (25 amounts that we had to remove); window key broken and, therefore couldn't open some windows; fridge filthy; toilet filthy.... having to chase the refund of our security deposit and compensation...I could go on! Cleaning company are appalling, and the staff in charge of making checks and ensuring key issues are resolved at the property should be sacked.
