I like the house and the toiletries.
The TV in the room I stayed was not clear. And the landlord said I can't eat in the room. So these two I don't like.

More like a bad Airbnb than a guest house. Cold rooms, dirty bathrooms and nobody around to help. Tolerable as a bed for the night but not particularly enjoyable.
Check in is all done via door codes so you never see any staff. It feels like a cheap Airbnb but is charging guest house rates. I had to sleep in my clothes as the room was cold and there were no blankets just a thin duvet. The whole places smells old and needs generally updating. I don't expect huge amounts for £50 a night but it didn't even feel worth that. There wasn't even a kettle in the kitchen area to make a tea in the morning. The flush on one of the toilets didn't seem to work and the shower had mould in it but was at least hot. I left as early as I could on the two mornings that I stayed. The location is good and it is easy to walk everywhere from here.
Update: Lantern House took nearly 2 months to let me know there was an issue with the card details that booking.com had provided them with and then got aggressive, threatening me with court action despite me paying. Avoid.

Basically nothing about the place
Self-check-in - The code to open the door was different from that given in the booking confirmation.
The rooms were very old and the bed was very uncomfortable.
The toilet was extremely dirty.
The shower was not working properly.

Clean, warm, nice atmosphere, great location,,extremely good value for the area.
The duvet was extremely thin, almost just a cover! Although the room was nice and warm, I still had to sleep in a jumper and was a little cold getting to sleep. And no staff around to ask for a blanket

What breakfast?!!
I think the owner, with whom l had an unhappy encounter shortly before l left was possibly unwell &/or severely stressed that day.
Previously the quality of Customer Care from the cheerful helpful Polish manager was really good, but the unlappy encounter with his employer left a bad taste in my mouth. Perhaps l came across as a bad listener and was myself tired that day but it felt that it was he that could not listen to my case for having some flexibility with an particular client deserving a hearing

the location was convenient.
lack of cleaniness, the communal space was very cold. bathroom downstairs was freezing. heating not working in bathroom during minus tempretures . shower taps confusing on where is cold and hot. water takes ages to heat and goes from cold to scoldding hot.
no cooker in kitchen that was disappointing too.
no spoons, knives, forks in kitchen. rusty sink racks. stained plates, cups.
bed comdortable. rooms warm enough.
Host present most of the time talking loudly with other tenants in the livingspace. found it hard to focus on my work or take a nap.
I would not use again .

Walls paper thin, room tiny, bed cheap, toilet and shower shared between several people across the lobby...

Location and parking ok. Got 3 toilet rolls supplied in bathroom.
Filthy dirty disgusting room. Carpets and curtains very dirty. Curtains too small for windows by about 20% so light beaming in on the morning. Bathroom horrible, hardly any water coming out of the shower and diluted used soap containers and empty containers supplied. Dirty bedding with dead compressed insects on sheets and old dirty towels with other peoples hair on them. Food wrappers under bed from previous guests, not cleaned! A nasty experience not worth £20 a night. We paid £270 and were completely conned. Booking.com informed. Will be contacting the H.S.E. (Health and Safety Executive) tomorrow to get it audited and inspected. This place is well below human living standards and a breach of Health and Hygiene regulations. I know this as I have worked in a QUALITY DEPARTMENT for my job.
The owners will deny everything as they do with all the other HONEST reviews about the place claiming the same, so you decide..... read my other reviews and other people's about this place then decide yourself.
Also, nearly forgot to mention all the bites over my body, arms and legs from what I suspect is bed bugs. It is Mid November- definitely not mosquitoes etc.... HORRIBLE !!!
I have stayed in hundreds, if not thousands of places working away from home and this is the 2nd worse place ever for me in a close 2nd place. Didn't quite reach the worst but that is nothing to be proud of.
They replied to my review stating I did not contact them during my stay. Correct, there was nobody seen to deal with anything the whole 4 days there. They took the money and disappeared.
Yes I paid £270 for 4 nights which is £67.50 a night which they claim is cheap. Rubbish, there is a 4 star hotel a few doors up for less on booking.com with a 7.3 rating. Also many others for less with better ratings.
I booked 2 days before arriving, had limited choice, needed somewhere quick for work starting new job, but it looked nothing like the pictures in reality.

The only good point to the property was the location and free parking. 15/20 minute walk to Jesus Green Lido with some nice pubs on the way on the walk into Cambridge city centre next to the river in a quiet neighbourhood with local shops.
This is one of the worst properties we have EVER stayed in. The property needs inspecting by Environmental Health and removing from Booking.com. I have already complained to the property who were uninterested. Nearly two months later Booking.com have yet to receive a reply from the property. We couldn’t wait to leave - if Cambridge wasn’t so expensive/busy that weekend, we would have left and booked elsewhere.
The property was run down, dirty, smelled musty and there was another guest who openly said they had mental health issues staying there. I didn't feel safe. The beds/mattresses were uncomfy and squeaked. We didn’t see any members of staff during our stay, or upon check-in / check-out.
We had SEVERE issues with the water supply / pressure in the en-suite shower room. The water pressure was extremely low all weekend - the worst we've ever experienced. The shower flow actually completely stopped running for a few minutes, whilst I was attempting to wash my hair! We tried to use the first floor shared bathroom instead, however the water pressure wasn't much better, it was absolutely filthy, covered in black mould & I tried not to touch anything.
More seriously on the second/last morning, I woke up covered in itchy swollen bites, with more appearing after we left. I had 40-50 bites all over my limbs and torso, including at least 10 on each leg/foot, which were spread out in clusters and lines. I strongly suspect the room had bed bugs. It would be extremely unlikely for this to be mosquitos due to the volume and pattern of the bites. Despite taking paracetamol, prescription strength antihistamines and applying antiseptic cream, I could barely sleep for 2-3 nights afterwards due to the pain/itching. The bites are still healing and my legs are scarred.
Due to the above, I have asked Booking.com to contact the property and ask for a partial refund for the stay.

The room was clean and so was the bathroom. We are cyclists and Arkie was kind enough to let us in early on a very hot day and also accommodated our request to stay an extra day because of the coming heat wave. The room had a life saving fan, so we kept cool. There are shops nearby and it's only a short walk to the centre of the old city.

was within walking distance of the town centre (around the 1 mile mark.)
whole building smelt of stale old cigarettes. Bed in the room was really low to the flow and the mattress was really thing so could feel the bed supports.

The place is good for short stays, I think the price is fair for what you get. The room was clean, we did not meet anyone from the staff there but we had contact through email and that was friendly, they also complied with my request for thin pillows and I really appreciated and loved that they took care of that. There was also a living room space with a sofa, some books, a table, fridge, microwave, and sink that were very useful.
Toilets were difficult to flush, they are quite old. The place is about 25min walking from the city center and 35min from the train station. We had to walk all the time since public transport is not very fluent and there aren't stops close by. When you don't come by car or don't have a bike at your disposal prepare yourself to walk long distances.

Cheap, no frills hostel-type accommodation within easy walking distance of the city.
Messy shared kitchen area. Purely down to clientele and not due to staff inattention.

Comfortable bed. Decent wardrobe and shower. Television not bad.
Heating not on. I had to scramble around on the floor behind a table, to find the valve. There was mould on the bathroom wall near the sink. The light above the sink didn't work. The electrics seemed less than perfect. When I put my phone charger into the wall, the bulb in the bedside lamp blew. There was a coffee machine in the common room, but it didn't work. I lost 80p in the attempt to make it work. The catch on the window seemed to be broken.

Not much
No cups in coffee machine. Bedside light crackling like it was going to catch fire or electrocute me. Large stake to wedge in door for security. Toilet flush not working. Dubious men who looked like they lived there slouching around making me feel very ill at ease, woman who looked like she was sat in a sea of belongings after being evicted from somewhere, tvs blarting 4am.

Location was convenient.
Bathroom was cleaned.
Enough storage and hangers available
This was a trip for work for 3 days but had to check out after first night. No parking available. The hallway smelled with a cigarrete smoke, the room smelled, walls make of paper as I could hear everything people were saying in the next room or out side the room. The floor squeeked everywhere I went and the mattrace was cheap, very uncomfortable and not even straight. Sheets had stains. When booking accommodation I selected to pay at arrival and gave the time of arrival but they deducted the money from my bank account a day before arrival.
